  1. You have a nice facility to undertake such an adventure in. As for myself, I have only enough room to barely store my DB and only perform in-chassis repairs. I am quite envious
  2. Don't you just hate it when someone shows you up?? Well, I have these ones now and I'm just going to make them work
  3. A superlative suggestion, sir. With just two minor flaws. One, I can't find any 6v BA15S LED amber bulbs, and two, I can't find any BA15S LED amber bulbs. Now I realise that technically speaking that's only one flaw but I thought that it was such a big one that it was worth mentioning twice Any Red Dwarf fans here? They will get the reference. No? Hmm, quiet room
  4. BA15S and BA15D are the specs for the base. This seller has all the bulbs listed this way. It makes it great to search out what bulbs are available. These bulbs for the headlights: https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.ca%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F183127869906 These bulbs for everything else (cowl, tail, brake) https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.ca%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F183244949511 The only thing I am unhappy with is the single filament bulbs were not available in soft white. I will tint my cowl lenses amber to correct the harsh LED blue / white light. I plan on making the cowl lights into signals anyways. (Calm down, this is reversible). They really are not much use otherwise. I suspect the dual filament bulbs would still work in the single contact base. There is no evidence of the LED harshness through the thick red glass tail light lens though and the license plate light doesn't bother me too much.
  5. I don't know if they were resilvered when the car was restored or not. I don't believe the car ever got being in really poor condition at any time in its history. They sure are shiny though!
  6. LEDs installed, draw next to no amps, almost as bright as the Ford Model A healight bulbs I put in. Also did the cowl, tail, and stop lamps. Even with the thick red glass, the rear lamps are far brighter than they were before with the incandescent bulbs (safety!!) From this eBay seller: https://ebay.ca/usr/led_bulbs_for_classic_cars Would not pass for modern headlights, but they work well in this application. I just need to wait for nightfall to adjust the focus
  7. Not to hijack this thread, but were you able to make a metal body tag? I could really use a reproduction Toronto Canada bodu tag so I don't need to pull up my flooring should someone need to see it. Also, mine is very degraded.
  8. My 28 has an adjustment screw on it and it needs calibrating. This requires taking the housing off the speedometer. The screw changes the distance between the gauge face and the magnet that drives it. If I get around to it, I will GPS my speed and have a helper adjust the speedo while we drive. I don't know what style speedo you have, but this is the style I'm referring to
  9. 60A is right at the supply wire to the cab from the battery. Too big for headlights, but not too big for the 8 gauge power wire it is protecting. This circuit also has the generator charging through it. 60A is fine here. If it pops, the car dies
  10. Perhaps it was upgraded at some point? It's certainly double contact housing. I do know of the resistor you mentioned, I wondered what that was for. It is still there. Not sure if it is functional. My LEDs showed up, will update once they are installed. As for the generator, she puts out 30 amps no problem. Turn the lights on and it drops to near zero amps on the gauge. These bulbs are just drawing a ton of power! Noticeably bright though. I have a 60A maxi fuse installed as a main circuit protection
  11. I'm running 6v positive ground with a pertronix if that is what you are asking, 1928 Standard Six
  12. It's fun taking the old girl out. Just came back from a small cruise night at a retirement home. Only about 6 cars there but it was fun talking to all the seniors. Some were even older than the car, some had similar Dodges (or was it a Ford? no, it might have been a Plymouth, it had a rumble seat anyways)
  13. I don't know, where were you? There was a bit of every, from bikes to a 40 ton Oshkosh 8x8 military vehicle (not mine but I did work on it a couple of weeks ago). Most of the dodges were 60-70s. Those clips are all from the beginning of the day. Cars were rolling in all day.
  14. 491 cars this year, for the official count. Down from last year's 527 cars. Spectator attendance was up significantly this year
  15. My 28 at Cops n Rodders, Hamilton Ontario Canada. Charity car show put on by the Hamilton Police Dept to raise money for the Special Olympics. Hundreds of cars showed up. Will have to wait to find the actual numbers this year. Second year for me with the car. First year that I had any sort of setup. Those down the side of the car are original 1928 magazine ads that I had laminated and mounted. I am pleased with my information sign as well
  16. If anyone in the future is reading this, Mazda 1000 bulbs are great for visibility, but I noticed my generator has a hard time keeping up with the discharge they create
  17. LEDs are taking too long to come in. Just installed a set of 1000 Mazda 32/32 candle power bulbs for now. Huge difference over the 21 candle power bulbs I took out
  18. Where did you install the thermostat? Between the head and upper rad hose? It looked like one could go there. What thermostat did you use?
  19. My globes are perfect, the silvering inside is immaculate. The 21 candle power bulbs just aren't capable of shining useable light. In pitch dark they would work. Modern streetlights overpower what light they are capable of producing. LEDs are on the way and should be 47 candle power. We will see.
  20. On mine, the headlight switch has 4 positions (in theory) - off - cowl lights - low beam headlight - high beam headlight The reality of them is - off - slightly less off - useless glow - a slightly different useless glow - The switch is mounted to the side of the steering column I just got back from a drive and it is well into dark. I don't usually drive the old girl this late. (And I'm still on one headlight). The dash light was freaking searing my eyes. There is a little shield, i closed it and it helped a bit, but then I couldn't see the gauges and there was still a sliver of colapsed star shining out from behind it. I think I'm going to install a dimmer.
  21. My thoughts exactly. I'm not out alot on this and will rock it for now
  22. At this point, I'm not going to make you take off your shoes before I let you get in
