  1. Hi Alain My Chrysler 65 has a Delco starter and so do all my Chrysler ‘s I will show a photo of ID plate not sure if it’s original but considering my other cars have delco starters I figure it should be delco. But that I say this if it is incorrect I’m sure someone will jump in and correct me.
  2. Thanks everyone for the additional info. It is great when others who have more years experience chime in and set us clear, as some of us are still learning. So it appears on my 75’s some one actually went to the effort of removing all evidence of the vacuum wipers this is good to know in case I want to return to original. Thanks again
  3. Hmm did a bit more investigation on my cars because rightly so I started to doubt what I had said earlier about 29 models both manuals I have (models 65,75) state the the windshield wiper is of suction type operating from engine my manuals are dated August 1928 and October 1928 but my cars are later production. So given this bit of info I thought I would investigate on the cars themselves and I could find no evidence any where on my 75’s or my 65 (non of the cars have been striped down fully restoration in their life) of vacuum wipers so either who ever converted these to electric did a thorough job at removing all the the vacuum system or maybe they were electric from day one, who knows I’m probably not going to change now anyway. As for 72’s I have it is clear they were originally vacuum operated but changed at a later date to electric. Your truly Confused 🙄🤯🤣
  4. Yep Leo you are spot on with the model 72 being vacuum wiper system as all the remains of 72’s that I have indicate vacuum system originally as all the plumbing is there but all have been converted to electric at some point in their life. That’s great info about the TrIco motor from A Fords fitting as I would kind of like to set the coupe back to vacuum when I get to it. Thanks Ben
  5. I had a quick look at my cars and two of them plus some of my spare radiators have the petcock on the bottom hose outlet here is a photo of one of my spares. But I have just as many without a petcock so I’m guessing your radiator may or may not have one. Removing the sheet metal below the radiator probably won’t help the viewing of this but removing the radiator will and doesn’t take too long. just something to watch with the 27 engine is mid year they changed to a semi automatic distributor so this won’t interchange. But it is easy to tell the difference as the 26 and early 27 have a much larger diameter then the late 27-28. Just one thing to watch if you are doing a lot of traffic driving is the Carbon throw out bearing/bush, if you hold the clutch in for extended periods of time eg at stop lights etc instead of just engaging neutral and releasing the clutch these will burnout or so I have been told. I have actually never had a problem with mine but I tend to only have my foot on the clutch when changing gears as one should. If you do encounter problems with this don’t fear there is a modern bearing style conversion available from the Filling Station that will solve these issues. Any way good to see that you saw the light and came over to the brighter side (Chev 4 side) of life 🤣 and best of luck. Cheers Ben
  6. Yep definitely possible to work a electric 6v wiper motor. I believe in 1929 they were all electric wipers on both the 65 and 75 models here is what is on my 65 sedanmy 75 sedan my 75 Roadsterand now for what you are probably most interested in my 72 coupe has been converted and some stage in it life from vacuum to electric here is a pic If I was doing the convert I would chase a wiper motor with out the switch on the motor it’s self something more like my sedans as I feel the ones with the switch on the motor are more for open cars. Any way if you want more detailed photos let me know. Cheers Ben
  7. What my wheel is a bit out of balance, Never 🙄🤣 this is what I discovered under a couple of the covers on the last 75 wreck I purchased. And under the opposite Covers Nothing! Lucky my other 75 and 72 have more respectable weights.
  8. Hi there and good choice of cars I currently have 2x 1926 Chevrolet’s and 2 x 1927. As far as the radiator petcock goes I’m pretty sure this was located on the bottom hose outlet but I will check later I know some of my cars don’t have a radiator petcock/valve I’m guessing they have probably been removed when the radiators have been replaced or repaired. 1926 vs 1925 compatible parts are limited as the 1925 engine had a different oil pump/ generator/ distributor set up so the block it’s self is different. In saying that the heads should interchange and the rods as well and some other bits. I’m not sure if the distributor it’s self are the same but I’m doubtful. You may find an early 1927 engine might be a better proposition as they share the same Dissy on thing that is really different is that 27 had a oil filter so some differences in the plumbing for oil distribution. I’m not sure on the actual quantities of oil for the diff and gear box but will check my books later to see there is any thing written in them I usually just fill the diff to just bellow the filler Bung on the diff and similar on the gearbox. Hopefully this all helps you and it would be great to see a photo of your car here are mine.
  9. Both my 75 and my 72 have these weights definitely original to the car. Not sure if other makes had them or not.
  10. Unfortunately it is only an owners handbook/ manual there is no workshop manual for these cars however it is still pretty handy to have a copy. I was use to having proper workshop manuals for my Chev 4’s that are really comprehensive shows how to rebuild nearly everything I guess Chrysler thought their cars were better then that or that no one would be foolish enough to want to restore one in 90+years time 🙄🤣. I was lucky enough to pick up a copy of the owners book on EBay thanks to fellow forum members spotting it and alerting me to it. Cheers Ben
  11. Yes it would have as to what it looks like I have no idea. Tool list as per manual
  12. Yep I agree 1930 70 or 77 early production because of the hood pennen type. Not sure how to tell the difference from the 70 to 77 by the photo provided someone else might be able. It has similar styling to the 75 picture below however some differences ( windscreen angle). This picture is from George H Dammann book 70 years of Chrysler, I have no other info sorry.
  13. And to muddy the water a bit more here is what I can see of the remaining paint on my 1928 Chrysler 72 Coupe engine.🙄🤣
  14. Hi Narve N Interesting that you note 4 different ratios I’m sure I had read the same somewhere but when I picked up my 75 instruction book it only mentioned 2 different ratios either way I definitely agree the only way to be sure is to count the teeth.
  15. Hi there, I’m not sure what the cars that ran at LeMans had in terms of gear and diff ratio. But when you say yours is running the original that would mean third/top gear is straight through/ 1:1 ratio and the diff for the roadster should be 3.9to 1 might be worth checking that yours is the 3.9 and hasn’t been changed to 4.3 to 1 which all other body types had. Hopefully someone else chimes in with more info Cheers Ben
  16. Yeah if I lived close to it I would definitely be going and having a good look about. I agree I cannot see any roadster panel’s either
  17. Hi Narve N the Chassis does look very similar to my 72 chassis as you would know an engine number may help confirm unless of course the engine has been replaced at some stage. I see the head that is with it was a red head head but a shame about the piece missing out of it where the thermostat housing bolts on. as for the sheet metal, the Cowl and doors look similar to what is on my 72 Coupe but could be from a sedan. The front gaurds that I can see actually look a bit later to me as I cannot see any bead lines on them. If you want I can take some photos of my chassis later when it’s daylight. That chassis etc would make great spare parts or a fun speedster/special. Cheers Ben
  18. Yeah it’s all interesting stuff and I’m just started in the last couple of years learning about these Chrysler’s. I probably need to get out a travel a bit and have a look at some other 75’s in the flesh. So far I haven’t seen evidence of locally built bodies on 75’s but willing to be educated either way on this. Thanks again for the reply Lozrocks. Cheers Ben
  19. Thanks for the info yeah I was thinking that maybe the case. What threw me is that the front seat folds flat like what’s on some Aussie bodies but maybe it was changed here as most of the pics of the American bodies show different.
  20. Yep close to the 75 but still a bit different here are the instrument clusters in my 2 75’s The first one is in a Sedan the second a Roadster
  21. Another interesting observation John is that your instruments are white on a black background as opposed to black on white background. Also finding a fuel gauge is one thing, finding a fuel gauge and sender unit that will work maybe another. I’m pretty sure the model 65 uses white on a black background but it is a different cluster and I’m doubtful as to if the fuel gauge is the same as the 72. Also what is the max speed on your speedo ? Cheers Ben
  22. Hmm 🤔 interesting comments Zeke and thanks for making them I guess you are talking about the 27 oval type dash I know my dash is more like the 75 style but different colour here is a pic.
  23. Hi John I’m sitting here having a bit of a chuckle about this, as the book I have says 120.5 but when I did the Fedco look up it stated 118 3/4 for my car and that’s how it measures up. The fun of early Chrysler’s! On this forum I have learnt so much from questions that I and others have ask here and I’m still learning but unfortunately sometimes the only response to the questions are the sound of crickets 🦗 chirping. As for the wheel base business and I’m only surmising that perhaps these cars were early in the production run as when I look my one up it states it was a 1927-28 Chrysler 72. If I’m wrong on this I’m sure someone will chime in pretty quickly as they usually do when I start assuming things. By the way no hard feelings to those that have corrected me in the past it’s good that’s how we learn. Anyway that’s enough of my rambling hope it helps. Cheers Ben
  24. Yep another one🙄🤣 I should eventually have enough parts to complete something.
