  1. Love those running boards. Exactly what I am eventually going to put on my DB.
  2. With the exception that you say it was running fine after you reassembled you are describing the exact issue I had on my 26 DB. Did it run for an extended period after reassembly or just until the initial prime ran out? It wasn't until numerous disassembles that I discovered the alignment needle on the bottom of the float was not in the hole at the bottom of the tank. The result was the float was slightly cock-eyed in the tank and thus was assembled with the float stuck in the up position thereby shutting off the fuel supply. Mine is working perfectly after correcting that.
  3. Apologies - I was unclear and you mis understood. Lady at the laundromat welcomed the business and had even neatly folded all 10 of my jumpsuits when I came back to pick them up.
  4. Don’t even think about putting those in your home washer! They will leave a smell and possibly dirt that will remain for the next 5 loads and show up on her next load of whites. That comment is from experience! Local laundromat is my only resource for shop clothes.
  5. As a former resident of Mass I can totally understand your frustration. My fix? Move to GA. Unless you live in a county that touches Atlanta - no inspection. And that inspection is only for emissions. The people at my county registry smile and say please and thank you. I even had one apologize when they admitted making an error. I won’t even start on the tax and cost of living difference.
  6. Thanks for the post. Just the push I needed to get my garage cleaned up before it’s too late.
  7. Nice toy! Can you determine year from a vin number?
  8. Thank all for the help. As far clearance I don’t see how there will be an issue. Looks like you could shave at least .125 (not a typo) before any clearance concern. Hope to start this project in the next couple of weeks and will post pictures and progress. Thanks again for all the info. Paul.
  9. Thanks Ray: To the best of my knowledge the engine has been down before. Two different size head studs. In addition the head was flattened .010 when I did the valves. Is there too much at risk to go ahead and have up to an additional .10 removed from the block? Is there any way to tell if the block has been shaved before? I am really trying to keep this original engine with the car but have a spare block if needed.
  10. Getting a little closer to starting this rebuild now. This question may be way out there but - are there any modifications that can be done to a 90+ year old 4 cylinder that will add even a few HP? Would boring it out even if it doesn't need it help? Just thinking, if I can add even 4 - 5 HP it is a 10% increase. I live in the foothills of the Appalachians and would like to make it to the top of some of the hills in at least 2nd gear. Thanks for looking! Paul
  11. It just results in lost revenue. There are ways to bypass almost all of PA. I am not the only one avoiding the state. Maybe a copy of this correspondence should be sent to the ones who are trying to keep their jobs next November.
  12. Guess I do not know the difference between fast four and four. Would these fit my 26 DB? I have not torn it down yet but may need these. Thanks Paul
  13. Water pump and misc small parts still available.
  14. Has anyone looked into the feasibility of 3 D printing for replacement parts? I am thinking in particular right now about interior door handles and window cranks.
  15. All that diesel/gas tax in PA and the roads that I need to use (I have tried them all) to get to Mass are so bad I refuse to haul my camper through there anymore. Makes me wonder what they are using the income on. The last time I tried the pounding shook a lens cover over the side of the camper. It always shakes open the kitchen drawers and in some cases has bounced clothes off the hangers in the closet. Done with PA!
  16. Nice 5 window resto project - NOT!! This is on the side of a trail at a waterfall park in NW GA. The falls are called Amicalola. (Easy access and really neat place if you are in the area) The intriguing question is how did it get there. It appears to have been there longer than the trail. It is a long way up a very steep slope to the road above it. No way it came up from below. There are a lot of large trees between it and the road above that look to me like they have been there longer than the truck. It is completely stripped of anything removable and is only the shell.
  17. You may want to try calling the marketing division at Dana. Obviously its a long out of production part but someone there may know of an old former employee or customer that makes or has replacement parts. Or maybe a really good metal fabrication shop.
  18. I have always just used a power washer with a mild detergent that is for the siding on the house. The mold does come back but only about after 3 - 4 years. Pretty humid summers here in GA.
  19. Hi all. I came across a 1930 model A yesterday. Other than a poor attempt at some new interior it appears to be a survivor and completely original with about 26,000 miles. Owner says $10,500. Does that sound fair.
  20. Kombi? Base and clear mix? First time painting in a very long time. Not up to speed on all the slang. Thanks Paul
  21. Well I finally got to the sealer, base and clear and am happy with the results. Don't know how I managed it but sealer, three coats of base and three coats of clear and only one run. In spite of making a 12 X 20 PVC frame with plastic tent I still got some dust in the clear. Absolute zero smell made it to the house upstairs though, so happy wife and cats. The current plan is to go with 3M 1500 to 2000 to 3000 all wet by hand. ( I am a little hesitant to do this with a DA) So the questions are - - What is the best way to take out the one run? - Is that the best plan to get the dust nibs out? - What are some recommendations for compound to final finish products? I will post pictures once compete. Thanks again for the expert advise.
  22. Just to add to the list - he also contacted me last week. Just looked too suspicious especially with the email address and need for a phone number. Glad this one is banned!
