  1. I went through the same thing the first time I put mine on, then I flipped it around and works as it should. I bet you've done the same thing I did. Lucas
  2. I believe on a 63 the engine was silver originally, but yes, I think what has been said about the factory torquing the necessary parts of the engine to function, then painting is correct :).....of course none of my stuff is stock, except my Cadillac, and that's how its engine is painted. Lucas
  3. Yessir, as we talked about on the other forum, pretty pi$$ poor, but its what I had to work with. I'm happy with it now after some more fitting and tucking. I'll post pics on another thread once I get the rest of my interior finished up here hopefully next month.
  4. Yep, I've striped motorcycle rims that way. Just have to watch out for an out of round tire or rim. They all seem to have a little runout on them. Lucas
  5. I wonder if a guy could buy the "proper" tires without the size on them in blackwall, and mask off his own triple lines and use one of the white wall paint kits that are sold on ebay. I've seen good reviews on them on some other forums, but only from guys making their own wide whites. I don't see a reason you couldn't make your own. Just a thought...... Here's a link to ebay and the paint kits http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odkw=white+wall+tire+paint+kit&_osacat=6000&_from=R40&_trksid=m570.l1313&_nkw=white+wall+tire+paint&_sacat=6000 Lucas
  6. Yep, it's tough (and expensive) going the all original route. You'd think they'd have provisions for a "closest part available" when exact repos aren't made...... Lucas
  7. Yep, what Tom said....I've got an OPGI, or what's left of it after I modified and re-did the whole thing in my car. Was supposed to be an exact replacement. What showed up was a painted piece of cardboard......
  8. I believe the other gentleman was Scanlan Classic Auto Veneer. I had gotten a hold of him a couple months back, but he had had a medical emergency. He told me he'd get back with me when he could, but I haven't heard back from him, despite trying to get in touch with him a few times. I hope he's okay, but not 100% sure where he's at with things. Here's his site: http://www.scanlanclassicautoveneer.com/ . Let me know if anybody is able to get in contact with him. Thanks. Lucas
  9. I believe they were 3/4", but not 100% sure. To be honest was just happy to get the fugly things off of it.......
  10. My car had wheel spacers/adapters to 4.75 bolt pattern when I got it. The only thing about that is then you have to put the offset at what I consider to be undesirable. It looked like I had rims off a front wheel drive on it, which they were....hideous.
  11. Just a few more pics of my interior and led taillights. The woodgrain is going to be custom red burlwood so I've got new panels out getting done, and I'm going to cover the center console in black leather to match my leather dash and package tray. Will be redoing the armrests in black, as I feel the red on them now looks a little chinzy.
  12. Sorry to the original poster if I'm helping to hijack your thread.....We can start a different one if you like. Let me know. Lucas
  13. No, no bottoming out. It's a little stiffer than stock, as the shorter you make a spring, the higher the rate gets. But, it's not uncomfortable at all, just doesn't "float" like a stock one anymore. I think having the low profile tires makes a bigger difference in ride quality than the springs do. I'm going to put the 15" Supremes and Coker wide whites off my Caddy on it this summer when I get it re-aligned (the alignment machine can't clamp on the 20s with them tucked in like they are), then I'll know for sure, but on my F100 when I switch from my 18" summer tires to my 15" winters, it rides like a completely different truck. Lucas
  14. Yep, what Ed said. It's the way of the world now, and Chinese stuff can be just as good as ours, unfortunately. I've got a 552" stroker engine in my Mach 1, and the crank and rods are by Scat (one of the best names in the custom engine business). They're rated to 1500 hp. Guess what? They're all Chinese steel castings to begin with, and machined here in America after they ship the blanks over. Same with Eagle, Lunati, and most others...... Lucas
  15. Correct, sir. Sorry, I misspoke, forgot I was on a Riviera only site and the guys here would actually know this. I've said '65 front end just to keep it simple for the common "car guys" haha.....No worries
  16. 245/35 front and 275/35 rear. I cold cut the coils for 3.25" front and 3" back to more or less level it out and running kyb shocks.
  17. 5.5 on the rear, 4.5 on the front. The fronts will rub the inner fender liner slightly at full lock, but I added a 5/16" spacer and no rubbing whatsoever. These photos are before I put the spacers on, you can see how much room on the outside it had on front. Lots of room in these for big wheels and tires
  18. Thanks, and you too. Mine is stock drums all the way around. I run Ridlers on pretty much all my cars. Fit great. These are 20x10.5s on back and 20x8s on front. Lucas
  19. Just as a tip to anyone else who likes these style of wheels, Ridler makes almost the exact same thing, in chrome, grey, or black, and they fit my 1963 without any modifications to the car whatsoever.....I've got 20s on this, and 18s on my Mach 1 in the same style. Just thought I'd try to help if anyone wants to step up to a newer style 5-spoke without shelling out the money for 4 wheel discs. Lucas
  20. Thanks, Ed. Will do. I'm on a few other forums so I won't be on every day.....(also have a '72 Mach 1 with a 552" stroker I bought when I was 12, a '70 Coupe Deville, and a '74 F100 with a 395" stroker). But, I will be on as much as possible, I love that this is Rivieras only! Been going through the posts, and it looks like a great group of people and I'll try to help as much as I can when I'm able to share my little bit of knowledge haha. This has been my "other" dream car after my Mach 1, and I've been going through quite a bit on it. The previous owner was a serious hack......
  21. Hi, new to the Forum, and happy to be here. Here's my '63 with a '65 front end. Finishing up a lot of the previous owner's "sins", but it's been a good start to my new custom car build. I'm in Montana, so finishing up the engine compartment, the interior, and doing the trunk in black leather while it's still winter. Lucas
