  1. After @keiser31 gave his response I took another look at the pictures and noticed the residue from the gold on the ridges. I don't know why or how someone would have gone to the trouble to do that and manage to not disturb the center portion but sure looks like they did.
  2. Being home to King Seagrave there always seemed to be one of those C series Ford's out front waiting for delivery, or bare chassis in the yard waiting to be built. I could be wrong but I believe my Cub Scout leader was the guy who did the gold leaf on them.
  3. Getting back to the cars and leaving the personal stuff behind some of these cars do intrigue me. Yes, there are a lot of ifs, however, there also a lot of buts so looking at this Buick Forget the color choices, not everyone is about the 100 % original, I can guarantee that you roll into any cruise night or local show and you will have a crowd with this car. If someone took the time to really look this car over and if it was solid and complete and you could get it for the starting bid would it be a reasonable buy? I know there's the but is the engine any good, but do you need to replace the tires, but what about the wiring etc.. but anyone one of your cars could also throw a rod tomorrow as well. This is a desirable body style and the chrome work is already done which is a major plus. To me the greatest risk is the engine and for the price is that a reasonable risk? I have noticed that none of the cars appear to have a drip tray under them and given that most cars like to mark their territory does that mean that the cars have been displayed dry (no oil/water etc) and what risk does that present? At the end of the day it comes down to is the sum of the parts worth the total? And it's a hobby for the owner, the dollars don't always make sense but they do seem to have a way to make cents on the dollar. Be reasonable, be rationale and above all be kind with your thoughts.
  4. This place is just outside Hamilton, Ontario http://www.johnstuartpowerbrake.com/ Quick turn around time and good work.
  5. I hate to be the one to tell you but it's a display item at best. Take a good look at the pictures and you can see where the pot metal is failing, particularly at the top of the head dress. Maybe a little soak in Dove dish soap and a gentle rub with a Q Tip but I wouldn't try much more than that. Still a neat display piece.
  6. No idea - after reading the posts I was curious to see what the cars were and started down the rabbit hole of looking for them which has now led me to this previous thread:
  7. https://www.pctonline.com/news/truly-nolen-obituary/ Sounds like an interesting fellow and now I have book to add to my summer reading list - Truly Original
  8. In the city every surface between buildings on opposite sides of the street is in play for emergency vehicles, those pesky pedestrians will move...don't ask how I know
  9. There was a so called news story that had an inflammatory headline along the lines of "Did an EV cause the collapse" but when you read the article the writer admitted that they had no information that was actually the case and that we will have to wait to find you the actual cause. The actual facts in the article were about the buildings history and having been converted, when it was last inspected and when it was due again. The article did go on to say that structural engineers are now having to consider the increased weight of EVs over comparable vehicles, basically comparing a Ford F150 Lightning to a gas powered F150. There was actually some valid information in the article but a terrible click bait headline.
  10. Similar to the 1918 Kline Kar but I can't find a good picture of the passenger side
  11. I've got to ask, given how long you've owned cars, how old was the gas?
  12. Now that's just not right. Hopefully it's gone by now.
  13. Ok so I had to look that one up and definitely one of the larger issues, if not mechanical

  15. Try this link instead: https://www.auctionzip.com/cgi-bin/photopanel.cgi?listingid=3798453&category=0&zip=&kwd= More pictures and it looks like they are still updating the listing. Looks to be an in person only, old school farm auction - man I miss those!
  16. I realize that the auction company is still updating the listings, however, did anyone else notice that each car has the same 4 pictures, basically both sides and front and back. No interior or engine pictures let along the undercarriage and no information about condition of the drivetrain. Just an observation.
  17. Now I've got an excuse to visit Wolfe Island again the next time we go to Kingston! We used to go to the old General Wolfe Hotel for a good diner when we were going to school there. The ferry from the island over to the New York is well worth the price of admission for how low key of a border crossing it is/was.
  18. Glad to hear that for the most part it has been minor, simple fixes. Funny how repairing those things make you appreciate the car a bit more and gives you immediate satisfaction in a job well down. @31nash880 and @zdillinger, I sure hope that the damage doesn't go beyond what you have already found and that you both can get them back together before too awfully long.
  19. There are no fees basically with the Friends and Family way of transferring money, but once the money is sent it is gone, there is no way to get it back and the receiver has access to the money quickly. The other method of sending money where the seller sends you an invoice on PayPal results in fees being charged to the seller similar to credit card fees of around 4% but the buyer has recourse through PayPal to get their money back if there is an issue with the transaction with PayPal taking the money back from the seller and there can be a longer hold on the funds as well. A legitimate seller factors those fees in. As an aside I have had buyers offer to cover those fees and I have had them also send me the money by their choice through the Friends and Family. I would never ask for it that way, and I am upfront that I prefer the invoice method as it offers they buyer some protection.
  20. A few of the other threads made me think that we need one dedicated to the little or in same cases big issues that we have found as the cars are brought back out. For me it was two different throttle return springs broken - on on the 64 Dodge truck and another one on the 66 Coronet. Ironically both have the same 318 poly engine. No harm no foul for the 66 as the spring was doubled up and I found the broken one sitting on the intake. The 64 only had the one spring and it immediately hit high RPM and just hit the key to turn it off. Needless to say that spring will be doubled up from now on! Package of assorted springs at the parts store just under $9 including tax. I considered it a good start to the season. All the old cars fired right up, my parents 2013 Challenger on the other hand had to be put on the battery charger. What issues have you had this spring?
  21. Never use the friends and family unless that who you are really sending it to. No buyer protection and your money is as good as gone.
  22. Looks to be 1931 - here's a panel off the web but 1 1/2 Ton might be the same
