  1. From what I have read, I thought this was your life. I had too. Looked at the pronged sensor this AM it is a one prong sensor with no chance of a second being broken off. The bottom of the pan has one dimple and the heel impression. Spline on the input shaft has one set of teeth. So by deduction then, this is not a SP trans or converter. Thanks RoadShark, I read that one as well. Thanks PS: Someone should write a definitive book on the subject
  2. Here is a pic of a transmission that I have. The tag tells me it is from a 64, I think. ST400, BN 64. Is it a SP ? Just a little confused after reading this; http://www.buickperformanceclub.com/switchpitch.htm The converter has grooves inside as well. There is an electrical connection on the trans but I am not sure if there are 2 connections or not. I have not measured the converter. I will take a pic of the pan and input shaft tomorrow.
  3. I am not sure of that. But here are a couple of sites that may help. http://www.tciauto.com/tc/speedometer-gear-calculator/ http://www.drivetrain.com/parts_catalog/ring_and_pinions/what_gear_ratio_do_i_have_in_my_gm_or_chevrolet.html https://www.hotrodhotline.com/calibrating-speedometer http://www.tciauto.com/tc/transmission-accessories/speedometer-gearshtml/ Also ebay has a 40, 41 and a 42 tooth speedo gear for the ST400 trans for sale now. 6. If you decide to go with lowering springs, I have a Jamco 2" set that was literally put on, observed, removed and then the car was bagged. I can let you have the set with 4 shocks (no bumps) for what I bought them for $350 + shipping. I believe Jamco has them for 499 + shipping. I have not placed them for sale here yet but intend to soon, getting pics and such.
  7. All real questions and concerns. Do you think the valve covers and air cleaner could have bee sold long ago? As it has had a repaint the correct badges might not of been obtainable at that time. I am not being hopeful here, just asking the question. So, has anybody checked the vin to verify that it either is or isn't a GS ? If not a GS what is an appropriate value ?
  8. What are your thoughts on this '66 GS @ $19,996 http://sfbay.craigslist.org/pen/cto/5974389992.html
  9. I wonder if anybody has offered him anything ? Been there for months at that price. 17 is not far from 22, you could offer. When a car is on CL for months, i get the impression that the seller is not really interested in selling it. (Maybe not even for the asking. ) But gets something from it being listed. Not sure what, but some cred somewhere. But here is a 69 for 6 ? Seller states "jest needs some love" http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/cto/5975755163.html
  10. "I really really love that 65 GS in Sacramento linked above but what the heck is with the trunk lid? The fit looks terrible" I think there a few being sold recently that have been in accidents and not repaired to the highest standard. You know, fill it, sand it and paint it. With a just get close approach. But, Here are a few projects out this way for sale: 1970 $3500 http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/cto/5939313784.html 1966 for TRADE http://sacramento.craigslist.org/cto/5950302746.html 1967 $7500 http://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/cto/5953789918.html 1970 $5500 http://bakersfield.craigslist.org/cto/5953161750.html 1970 Old School no price http://merced.craigslist.org/cto/5966553099.html 1973 Boat $20000 reduced http://losangeles.craigslist.org/lac/cto/5942991376.html 1963 $10900 http://orangecounty.craigslist.org/cto/5953715206.html 1969 "RestoMod" $14500 http://losangeles.craigslist.org/lac/cto/5951344971.html 1966 $147500 http://palmsprings.craigslist.org/cto/5931075703.html 1973 $12500 http://lasvegas.craigslist.org/cto/5968651025.html 1964 $23500 Mild Custom http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sfv/cto/5965637318.html
  11. This car has been for sale on craigs list for a few months now. Price has not budged. Looks nice though. If anybody is serious i am close enough to make the drive and check it out.
  12. Hey This is hard to describe without alienating sellers. So, these are my wants in a car. I like 63s for their interiors, 64s not so much because of the interior controls, and 65s for their exterior styling. Ideal car would be a abortion 63 with a 65 front. Or a 64-65 with a 63 interior controls. Not saying I would do this to a car I bought. Sacrilege I know to some. First and foremost, I am looking for a decent driver, is a must. It must be drivable. So everything needs to work reliably. My dream continues, Looking for one with a rebuilt engine, and a 200r4 trans would be nice as well. Upgraded brakes are a nice touch. As I am in California, I am used to no rust cars, and that seems the way I want to go. Not interested in a project at this time, in the sense that it does not drive. Upholstery could need redoing. Or, paint could need help. Or it could be pristine. Delux interior is nice as is AC, working or not. Lowered is OK. Perhaps you have a lead that I would be interested in checking out. I am willing to travel. Either way let me know what you have. Much appreciated and, Thanks Pictures help a great deal. Please PM for my email if you can not post in a reply. Let me add that I am NOT looking for recommendations on what model or year to buy, or why one is better than the other. I have looked at the ROA for sales.
  13. Has anybody attended the Phoenix meet ? There is one in January 2017.
  14. The minimum is the reserve. There is a misunderstanding of what "Reserve " means. Among other things it means no minimum. This is like putting a deposit on an item and then expecting the seller to return it to you after you back out of the deal. Can't have it both ways.
  15. I am looking, but I need a driver. Otherwise this could be a road trip for me. More info would be great. Where is the rust ? What is the mileage on the motor ? Does everything work ? "and pics of engine and ID plate" will help a great deal.
  16. My name is Peter. And I am looking for a '63 Riviera that I intend to use as a DD. Although I might consider a '65. I like the interior of the 63 and the body of the 65. 64 just does not do it for me, nice cars though. It would be nice if the car had some updates like disc brakes and a 700r or 2004r trans. I am in Northern California if anybody finds anything interesting please contact me, and I can go and visit it. I am leaving the sports car scene and heading into an American car. My background is from the 60s and Chevrolets. Looking to offer my knowledge to this group if I have anything to add. Thanks Here are a couple of my favorite things.
  17. This is and has been a craigslist car for a while now. http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/cto/5877072920.html
  18. This might help http://www.engineersedge.com/manufacturing_spec/calculator/torque_adapter_extension.htm
  19. Looks decent enough to visit, just a bit to far for me in California. Edit, got some interior pics. This is a project, although "runs well".
