  1. Well I found the reason for my brake issues. I started disconnecting the lines from the booster to remove it and found that there was very little fluid coming from the line that is connected to the reservoir/ fill tube. I figured it might be plugged with crud or something, so I removed it and dumped it out. Out came a paper disc like the kind that fits up under the cap of a brake fluid bottle. It must have fallen into the tube when someone was filling it up. Once that was out, I cleaned the filler tube and re attached it to the line. Hooked the booster back up and bled the brakes. Plenty of pedal and brakes now.
  2. I notice Fusick carries rebuild kits. Has anyone used any of these with success? Any tips?
  3. The booster is the master cylinder. I would like to do that if I know that is the problem and if I can get parts to rebuild it.
  4. I bought a 55 Super last fall and among the issues it had was a spongy brake pedal. We inspected the brake shoes, cylinders (none leaking) and did the various adjustments. All looked good. Figured we might have air in the lines so we began to bleed the brakes. On the first opening of the rear passenger bleeder the pedal immediately went to the floor. We were never able to pump it up and get any pressure. We have plenty of fluid in the reservoir but were never able to get any pressure back no matter what we did. Wondering if it might be the booster. Any ideas? Thanks, Paul
  5. Thanks. I'll remove mine this weekend and be sure to identify the correct one.
  6. Thanks very much for the info. I'll try that!
  7. I recently acquired a 55 Buick Super and one of the very few things I am needing is the left vent lever on the dash. Someone must have tried to move it without first using lube or penetrating oil and broke it. I am missing part of the lever and the knob. I was wondering if any member might have one or a lead. Thanks, Paul
  8. I disassembled the speedo to the extent that I found 2 issues. First was that one of the magnets rubs ever so slightly, but enough to be an issue and second that the spring seems to be very weak not returning the drum back to 0.
  9. Not really a 90 degree elbow. Cable just curves around going from vertical to horizontal. I figured it would be much more of a bend. Car is at a stand still. Tranny end is connected. Cable end is stationary. Very easy to slip cable into head, but when I do the red line just starts moving all the way over. I can get it to stay put when beginning to insert cable, but when almost fully inserted it moves.
  10. I recently acquired a 55 Super 2 door. Among the various issues is the redline speedo. I removed the top of the dash and accessed the speedo cable. I removed it and lubed it up. It was not working and now spins very nicely. My issue is that I am trying to re insert the cable end into the speedo head. I get the redline turned to the point of almost 0 mph and once I insert the cable end , the speedo suddenly spins freely and goes up to 100. Is there an issue with the speedo? Am I installing it wrong? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Paul
  11. Thanks for the info. I talked to several suppliers and found that the 320 engines had a bigger sized joint. Ahhh, the impossible just takes longer.
  12. Looking for a good torque ball u-joint. Did the larger engine cars use the same torque ball tranny set up as the smaller engine cars? Should I only be looking for u-joints for Centurys and Roadmasters? Thanks in advance.
  13. I understand that ,but have found the neopreme to be a better product.
  14. Hello, I am currently working on a 41 Buick Century and trying to slow down the leaks. One is due to an old rear main rope seal. I was told that they don't make a rear main seal out of neopreme for the 320. They do for the smaller 248 but not the 320. I was wondering if I could use a neopreme seal from another make. I have a 55 Cadillac that needed a rear main seal and found that a neopreme one from a 318 would work. Any help o this would be most appreciated! Thanks.
  15. Hello, I am currently working on my 41 Century and am trying to stop some leaks (or at least slow them down). I was told that there are no rear main seals for a 320 other than the rope seal. I can find neopreme seals for the 248 , but not the bigger 320. I sure would like to find a neopreme seal. I have a 55 Cadillac that had a similar issue and found that the neopreme seal for a 318 engine fit perfectly. Has anyone found anything better that the old rope seal, or a compatible substitute? Many thanks in advance.
  16. Hello, I just purchased a jack, stand and lug wrench specific for my 41 Century Sedanette. I have researched all over to see how and if there is a specific way those items stow away in the trunk. Was there a certain way? Thanks for any info/pics. Paul
  17. Thanks, I got it out a couple times before winter hit and really enjoyed the smooth ride it has. I'll bet the Roadie coupe rides nice too!
  18. Thanks for the reply. I pretty much found the items I needed. Doug Sebold out of Cleveland got me squared away. Paul
  19. Thanks for the response. That fan just cracks me up! I found that the 41 has an upper radiator baffle. I don't need it so much for cooling. The 41 I have seems to stay right on temp. I need it to line up my grill and to adjust the hood.
  20. Looking for a 41 Century radiator shroud and flywheel cover. Would a 1940 Century shroud or flywheel cover fit? I might have better access to a 40 than a 41. Thanks! Paul
  21. Hello, I am also looking for a radiator shroud for my 41 Century. Do you know if this item was compatible with the 40 Century? Thanks. Paul
  22. If you look up Matt Haywood's Restoration log to April 18, 2003 "Powdercoating Madness" Toward the bottom of the page you get a good look at the radiator shroud. Paul
  23. Hi Ben, The only pic I found of the shroud was from a website from Matt Haywood who went through the process of restoring a 41 Century like mine. Midway through the process he shows a radiator shroud getting painted. It is a pretty good pic. When my car arrived ,I noticed that there seemed to be something missing around the back of the grill area. I really did not know I was missing the shroud until I got my shop manual and saw Mr. Haywood's website. I also wonder if the shroud was shared by the 40 or 42. Paul
  24. After looking at my shop manual ,I find that my 41 DID have a shroud. It looks like my needs list has grown to a flywheel cover, radiator shroud and an adjusting bracket that attaches to the shroud. Any leads would be helpful. Paul
