  1. I'll send you the money in the mail if you go buy me the winning ticket..😇......and by the way Crown Royal is also my drink of choice...so there is alway some on hand. You would be surprised how many Canadians that live close to the border will go and buy tickets when the power ball draws get up into these cray winners. It always seems funny to me a person from another country could win the big prize.
  2. I we are getting closer to the exterior structure being complete the tasks to finish up are getting smaller in size so I will just show a few of the small projects I have completed over the last week, the first one was installing the 2 man doors.
  3. Good thing my oldest is doing concrete these days as that is the only way I could afford to do all these great ideas you guys are suggesting.😁
  4. I will give it a go.........Ed said I could do it.....😁
  5. You have me thinking Ed....Under my porch I was going to pour concrete in a couple of yrs after the ground is all settled but I think the idea of have a bigger pad might be a great idea, I might look into extending the pad and having a larger area done. Now how do I get this past the wife....hmmmmm In the pic below I would extend to where the camper trailer is and one of my kids cars....that would make a great outdoor work area. I have already set that area up for parking with stone put down.
  6. I am kind of at the point of just having some small project to do so last week I put the snow guard up on the back side of the building. I still have the front to do. This is a good weekday project with it getting dark so early and don't really need to get any tools set up to do this,,,just a drill and screws.
  7. I need to back track a little bit here as I skipped some steps with the live concrete news feed last week. Prior to concrete I was working on the trim around the porch and below is how the the finish looked turned out with the metal installed. I was able to do a 1 pc sheet all cut to go around everything and up above the porch roof. I was pleasantly surprised how flexible the metal was to be able to manipulate it to go around all the obstacles.
  8. Here are a couple of pics from around 8pm last night after some of my nosy neighbours who came over to drink my beer and whiskey ( Crown Royal of course) had gone home.😁 The floor will get cut some time today.
  9. As of this moment I do not have a plan for sealing the floor.
  10. The back side and west side away from the doors is good enough to walk around on
  11. Fought the rain for about 4hr. The front section because of it has not dried as quickly...
  12. Have to take advantage of the kid and his job when I can..he has been talking advantage of me for 21 yrs...lol..😄
  13. Thanks Andy...I will surely get some pictures up of some car projects later on . Jeff
  14. Sunday afternoon I tackled the trim work around the underside of the porch. I have to admit I have enjoyed doing the trim work, it is a bit slow and time consuming at times but when it is done and the the paneling is installed it just seems to improve the fit and finish when done. I had mentioned back at the beginning of this thread I went and look at a few finished garages/barns and I was not very impressed with the finishing details that I saw and most of the issues was the lack of trim work and just not caring enough to do a good job with it. I guess that is the difference sometime when you are doing it for yourself or paying a company who it trying to build 10 or more buildings in a year and have 2 or 3 going on at the same time.
  15. On Sunday with the weather still good I thought I better get the caulking done at the windows and the garage doors so that it will dry properly. I spent an hr or more doing some clean up and putting stuff away which seems to be a never ending job as I try my best to keep things as neat and tidy as possible during this garage construction. I also cut and mounted the wood in front of the door openings for my concrete.
  16. While dodging the rain last week I managed to get all the strapping on the roof and Saturday was hoping to get all the roofing installed. You will notice that in these pictures I have not done the soffit and facia and that is because I have run out of the charcoal J channel. Between when I order material in May and now I seem to have changed my mind about the way I was going to do something and I do not have enough of the charcoal J channel but it looks like I will have about 7 or 8 pcs of red J channel left over. I need to order some this week. First thing to install was the drip edge around the front and the capping on the side. Next up was the metal roof on the short side. I installed these panels backward to have a clean full edge on the outside and not the shorter overlapping cap edge on the outside. This way I could also use buttel tape to seal the outside edge with the small flat on the steel panel. It also looks neater this way if you are not using a full roof cap on the outside edge to cover the ends. Front done. The last 2 thing was to add the flashing at the wall and the ridge cap. I will have to go back a redo the ridge cap seal, I did not have the right stuff and what I tried to do did not work. But that is for a later time.
  17. Finished up the framing of the porch. Still need to put the strapping on so I can start to add the metal. I probably should've cleaned up my mess before I took the pics.🙃
