Thank you ! I think it’s the Alkyd enamel i am looking for. Will it smear while sanding it with a maschine? Was it a single component paint ar was hardener added? Is it possible to paint enamel over enamel? Is there a test to be proof the car was painted with enamel before? In this special case i try to trace down the paint on a 51 Merc 2D repainted in the 80-90ies. I am sure it’s not painted with acrylic paint since it’s not that shiny and the paint is much more soft. also the fuel dripping from filler neck let the paint crinkle. Thank you so much ! Joe

Hello, i am looking for help on the various American car paints. Since I live in Germany and we obviously have completely different names for the individual paints here, it is very difficult to get information about it and to assign it. My main concern is to learn how to differentiate between paint systems through tests. There is the modern, water-based acrylic paint with hardener. It's of no interest to me. Then there is probably the early nitrocellulose paint from the 1930s, used by Studebaker for example. How can you test this safely and what is the name of the paint in American? The most interesting for me is the paint from the 70-80 years, which is called "thermoplastic paint" in Germany and is not compatible with modern acrylic paint. How can I identify this varnish with certainty? I know that it is very difficult to sand this paint with the machine because it immediately starts to smear. What is the correct name for this in US? I own several American cars which appear to have been repainted but the type of paint used is unknown. Since partial repairs have to be made, I would like to continue using the same type of paint. Thanks in advance for information Joe

Roberts engine is in germany now. I bought it in 2018. Joerg -
that’s good if you have a delorean with flux compensator travels minimum 80mls/h. than you do a time travel to 1933, go straight into a Studebaker/ Rockne dealership and order it brand new using this number… 🤣 PS. sorry Brad 😎😊😂

correct Trailer hitch for a 1933 Rockne?
Rockne33DLXRoadster replied to Rockne33DLXRoadster's topic in General Discussion
Paul, yes, it have roll up windows. And yes. Rockne advertised this Model as „Roadster“. I was wondering about this many times, the only explanation for that i found by myself are the „chopped“ appearance of the in Roof. Joe -
good advice. Since my Rockne is not restored and keep his patina that would be my choice too
