  1. 5 year old pics, a description & a P O Box sounds like a possible scam. Get a picture with a current paper front page on the car. If you are using a bank that is nation wide see if they have a service that will check the title and the car I D numbers ( serial # as it was before VIN existed) before they hand over the check if not call a lawyer in the area. if you told us where the car and you are located you might find a member that will check it out for you. There are professional appraisal guys but they usually are not well talked about on this forum. dave s
  2. You got passed! The black car wasn’t there in the previous pic! The Jaguar was behind the Cord ! dave s
  3. Route 66 - Corvettes 😳 dave s
  4. Great pic of the clocks and pens. Hope you have good weather the whole way. Friends in Chicago and Indiana said all kinds of trees down and flooding. Hope is cleaned up by the time you round the big lake! dave s
  5. Hope you get better weather soon. Thanks for the great pics. Enjoy the drive. dave s
  6. Hope all goes well and you have a blast! Great verity of cars. If the Metropolitan passed the E type I wonder if he will go beep beep? dave s
  7. One more thing— if the windshield has not been replaced I would do both sides even if one looks ok. If they are original they may be brittle (for lack of a better description) and shatter if hit by a stone. Just a safety idea, I did my windshields but kept the rest of the glass original. Don’t forget to post pics! dave s
  8. Pictures, pictures, pictures. Studebaker made a great car. I drive my 38 everywhere daily. I have even done 15-20 laps on the Indy track and never lifted. It will run at 60/65 with no worries. As is always the case when asking about a car pics and location are a must. The fact you can see it and drive it is a plus. dave s
  9. Matt I’m 25 with three times the experience and still have little interest in tri fives. As Walt says “it has to have a running board” dave s
  10. I like the 56 but feel that’s the best one of the bunch. No reason to put down the others as it’s just personal taste and to each his own. dave s
  11. They changed to Commander, State Commander and President. dave s
  12. Is this another original poster disappearance again?? Sorry Peter couldn’t resist. dave s
  13. Seventy Three years ago tomorrow your friend and mine ( I say that with pride) was born! He is a teacher, artist, historian and auto related memorabilia and printed material collector. He is a kind, caring gentleman always willing to share his knowledge and vast information from his collections. His artistic talent has been seen in many CCCA books and as a teacher he influenced numerous young people in the art classroom for many years. He doesn’t like being in the spotlight as you all probably know but sometimes we just have to give recognition for being a wonderful friend and good person. So please wish Walt G a happy birthday. dave s ps- please don’t tell him who let the cat out of the bag, I don’t want him mad at me.
  14. The one thing to be careful about on a buy back clause is after the insurance company has made a total loss payout they may have to take your title and process it thru the state DMV and send you a “salvage” title. It can be difficult to then insure a car with a salvage title in some states. SC is one of those states and it may be difficult to sell the car if you repaired it yourself. I know as this is what I negotiated with Hagerty in order to not have a salvage title. They were very willing to help avoid it but I took a reduced claim to make it happen. dave s
  15. Aging only in proves in the oak barrel, DRINK it is the best thing you can do with it. If you give it to Ed I’m sure he can show you how best to enjoy it. dave s
  16. They are not left over parts they are EXTRA parts I found when I took it apart. dave s
  17. Great find Walt. That would be a fun car to drive but I probably could not fit in it. dave s
  18. It seems it would always be more efficient and less costly to just buy a car in hood running condition and no body problems. No extra parts needed as the car is going to outlast the owner. No parts to tag or trash when we are gone. What fun would that be?? dave s
  19. The only reason not to go look at this Edsel and make a reasonable offer is if your wife is still not on board. There is not a car out there that you should consider if she is absolutely against it. You will never enjoy that car if you do. It will be a bone of contrition when ever you spend any money on it. If she is somewhat ok then go for it and stop wasting good repair time talking about it. Have fun, I hope you get it and she enjoys it as much as you want it. dave s
  20. Ray, I’ve met him and still agree with you on all of the great qualities Ed has, he even gets funnier when he’s had a few of those Canadian drinks. dave s
  21. Love those KA or KB Lincoln’s. Nice looking car hope you enjoy for a long time. dave s
  22. His stories are so good we need another 400 ASAP dave s
  23. The Volvo SUV’s are easy. Pull two pins and the light assembly comes out so it’s easy to reach the bulbs to change. Now the Mercedes is a different story. dave s
  24. It’s so close to the ground all you have to do is hang your arm down and you can file your finger nails on the pavement! 😳 dave s
