  1. If a President passes away while in office they have the option of using the horse drawn caisson with a riderless horse walked behind it. The saddle has boots in the stirrups backwards. The ceremonial horses name is Traveler after I believe General Grants or Lee’s horse but I am not positive on the general. It’s the same caisson used when Lincoln was killed. JFK used it also. It’s not a MB, Cadillac but might be considered a Lincoln I guess. dave s
  2. If they can put all the buzzers in a car for ajar doors, unfastened seat belts etc, why not something that disables a phone if the car is in gear and running. Blue tooth would only work if a passenger was in seat or you were calling 911. No texting either unless someone was in passenger seat. It would eliminate a lot of problems. dave s
  3. Try Stephen Allen’s in FL 352-472-9369 dave s
  4. This is the latest fuel saver. Ad says 55% fuel savings. Sure it does! dave s
  5. Looks like my 38 State Commander but a different color. dave s
  6. Steve, saw the pics of the car being unloaded and in the building. Looks terrific and probably a heck of a lot better than in my garage as a display. But the offer still stands. dave s
  7. My windshield doesn’t open so I don’t have that problem, you may consider carrying a towel or just driving on sunny days. You could always just wear a bathing suit too. 😳 dave s ps - there is always a smart a$$ in every crowd and I think it’s me today.
  8. That box looks nice covered or not covered. The owner should bless your hands, your skills and your potty mouth for such a good job, catholic or not! dave s
  9. Walt, you should keep going. None of us are too old to learn and appreciate what someone else knows. The art is also in the words of the writer and I think many will agree you sir are an artist. dave s
  10. Just because it’s broken doesn’t mean it’s no good, it just has to be fixed. dave s
  11. Steve if you don’t have room for that new car I have no problem putting it on my garage. dave s
  12. Happiest day of my boating life was when I bribed the gas guy on the dock to fill my two 60 gallon tanks during the gas crisis. Then I advertised the 42 foot CC for sale with full tanks and a low price. It sold quickly. otherwise I was going to sink the damn thing. dave s
  13. Kerry, my daughter rode at the old Radnor Events. But she only had one horse power but four hoofs under her. dave s
  14. I thought you corrected Ed! dave s
  15. In KY you can drive from Paris to Versailles to London and even Baghdad and Lisbon in a day. dave s
  16. Glad you and your better half are ok. Nice work on the bottom. I did the side of a 42’ 1948 Cris Craft back in the seventies. Hand did the screws and by the time I was finished I would arm wrestle anyone for a cold beer! Keep the pics coming as it is a very good looking boat. What engine are you putting in it? dave s
  17. You are a lucky person to have someone do that for you and a kind person to do it for others. I feel I have been as lucky with members of this forum helping me with problems and sharing their knowledge and abilities in the old car world. Hopefully more people will feel the joy also. dave s ps- pics of the Garwood would be appreciated.
  18. Yes, the above suggestion is very good. Get a good barn cat or two, domestic cats get bored to fast. Feed them a treat when ever they bring a mouse to the door and you won’t have any mice after a while. Then you have to feed the cats. In twenty years plus of having horses, grain and then cars in our barn I never saw a live mouse. dave s
  19. This may be an off the wall suggestion but it may work for you. There is a fellow ( can’t remember his name because the grey hair is pulling the memory cells out of my head) on the Ford Truck Enthusiast forum that has rebuilt heaters. He is usually on the subgroup called 48-56 F-series trucks. wish I could be of more help. dave s
  20. All the above is great advice. But some other things need to be considered. Where do you live? Does it require A/C to be comfortable or for your significant other to go along with you. The Healy is a fun easy to work on (except carbs) car. Parts can be found and based on your list not overly expensive. The MB has the best chance of A/C. The Vett has the hp options. The Porsche and E-type will be hard to work on and expensive for parts. As far as looks the E-type is undoubtably the most beautiful car of the list. The best thing you have done is join the AACA, you may want to scroll down the forum list for each of these models and just read thru the threads. May give you a good idea of the good and bad points for each. Good luck, don’t be a one time poster and let us know what you end up with. Post PICTURES when you decide! Have fun. dave s PS I’ve owned Healy’s and MG’s and have always loved the E-type especially with 3 Weber carbs. They go like a bat out of hell in my opinion.
  21. I’ve got the 38 manual, it also has the planar suspension. dave s
  22. From Lexington KY to Dallas to Seattle Wa then drove to ferry crossing took the ferry to Van Couver to buy a Jaguar MK IX the owner sent about a hundred pictures of to me. The pics had to be 20 + years old as the car was junk. dave s
