  1. Thanks Guys good reading , not planning on changing Ruby or selling , just admired the sleek look. will go with general opinion and keep original , but love the wires so will be looking at true spokes as mentioned cheers pilgrim
  2. Saw this convertible which is the same as mine , like the lowered look , but will this devalue the car if other aspects of the car are to original spec. ebay one has other modifications so probably not an issue. Your opinions would be interesting. thanks pilgrim http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/311808608125?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
  3. Looks like a very powerful unit with great bodywork

  5. Hi guys been reading great threads on this forum of many frame off restorations and been amazed and in awe of finished results and got the bug! so chatting with a like minded friend have purchased a couple of project healeys 58, 100/6 and 62 , 3000. had them shipped from LA , to Cyprus , both lhd , but intend converting . Have them stripped so will post photos shortly although I personally would rather be doing a 50's American , thought parts would be difficult to get. However have found parts difficult to find in U.K. Unless prepared to pay for new, so if anyone in has surplus parts would be willing to send requirements , purchase and ship. cheers pilgrim
  6. Hi just noticed this thread , very interesting to me as just taken delivery here in Cyprus of same car , same year and colour, but red seats had her shipped from LA . Will start a post when I start and we can compare. cheers pilgrim

  9. Hi Guys Love Kelsey Hayes , there's a 53 convertible on eBay now same colour as mine complete with wires , looks great, jealous anyone out there with a set , I'm here! cheers pilgrim
  10. 91vert, Thanks , bit of a novice on identifying American cars , thought black top was canvas , but now see chrome strip. also being an olds explains why no port holes cheers pilgrim
  11. On reviewing your photos Mr Earl , bet you know what year the pale green convertible in the Sinclair garage is, no port holes , but looks like a Buick , similar shape to my 53 , probably earlier 50? cheers pilgrim
  12. Hi guys living in U.K. And Cyprus , drive RHD everyday. however , after importing Ruby 53 Buick special last year have similar experience driving LHD whenever I take her out . Think have bigger problems than Americans driving RHD European cars , as our roads in general our smaller especially in the villages It's pretty scary on the two way single lane roads , my wife cringes every time a lorry approaches . For the first couple of months ruby used to wander quite a bit and scared me sometimes , until a knowledgeable friend said you can adjust steering , which he did and improved it greatly. Driven ruby quite a few miles now and reasonably confident now , but find it difficult parking and turning right in the small villages, but worth it. cheers pilgrim
  13. 2 possible solutions , will take advice and check out both. cheers pilgrim
  14. Thanks Ilikecars53, carb king and old tank, you guys are great , all the advice I need in 4 hours amazing . special thanks to carb king , if you remember I purchased kit off you last year. old tank , thank you may be the solution , pity back in uk for six weeks and can't try till end of march , but will let you know how I get on. cheers pilgrim
  15. Hi folks woke ruby up a bit early this year as weather good in Cyprus , but try as I may she refused to start , used easy start fires up by dies soon as used. Removed air filter and placed hand over carb , normally works , but as hand came away dry , think problem is fuel . So topped up tank , same result. I have already punched a carb kit , so thinking best to service fuel pump as well. Shopbook says type DG . However is this sufficient info and any suggestions best place to buy. all comments welcome. thanks in anticipation regards pilgrim
  16. Topic caught my eye as have problem here in Cyprus with classic car insurance as insurers I've found so far will only insure third party or stolen to a max of $12k , hardly any crime here , but worrying still and not the best of road conditions coupled an appalling accident rate makes added stress. Choosing dry quiet days for trips! cheers pilgrim
