  1. This is what an "e30" sport seat looks like. e30's are the chassis designation for bmw 3 series from 1984 thru 1991. Apparently all convertibles had sport seats, unlike the sedans/hardtops which sometimes had sport and sometimes "confort" seats. So the point is you should have sport seats. They have value. I sold a pair quickly for $140 even though the vinyl looked shabby, and had a couple tears. Sport seats are great seats, better than "Recaro." The amount of recline adjusts, the mechanism is strong and well made.
  2. I do not see anything there worth saving, unless there are sport seats in good shape I would pull those and scrap the rest.
  3. I like these. I owned one of these, or like it anyway, 1972 Alfa Romeo Berlina
  4. Do you need the white letters? And what size? We use these on the BMW 320i. Barum 185/70-13 $50. Barum is a quality tire actually made by Continental. They are available at America's Tire, which also goes by Discount Tires Direct, depending on what state you are in. http://www.discounttiredirect.com/fitmentresult/tires/optionalPlusSize/185/70-13 BARUM BRILLANTIS 2 185 /70 R13 86T SL BSW Item# 11362 40,000 mile warranty $50.00
  5. If we get a picture we can cross post it on the bmw forum and maybe you won't even have to tow it yourself, someone local will show up with a trailer and more than scrap value in cash and take it for you. If it is a "Euro" model the bumpers really should be saved, they're worth something, unless badly banged up and rusted out. And a Euro would have a 6 cylinder instead of a 4, and the cross member under the engine would be different. Rusty bodies are worthless, they rust around the trunk and windshield and rear window channels, and tail lights and lower parts of the doors. But there may be drivetrain parts and bumpers and some other parts that could be saved. Maybe a Targa Baur roof could be re-used. The rear section is fabric, the front part is a removable targa top like would be on a Porsche. This 1982 sold for $14K, not a Baur even. And you can see the difference between the ugly US 5 MPH bumpers here and the Euro bumpers on the Baur in the previous post.
  6. This one sold for $15k on BAT http://bringatrailer.com/listing/1981-bmw-323i-baur-tc/ 1981 BMW 323i Baur TC, SOLD ON 6/22/17 FOR $15,250
  7. Don't be too hasty. If it's not rusted beyond repair it should be saved. They are highly sought after. This fellow here has a website devoted to them: http://baurspotting.blogspot.com/ If a 1977 it would be an e21 Baur. I would think if your dad had a Baur he would have called it that, as opposed to calling it a convertible? Get a pic and I'll forward it to the e21 forum http://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?143-1975-1983-(E21)
  8. Here is that song - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZVANQheoRUw
  9. I think it's a kind of lowrider. It is located in Corona.
  10. Hard to find pastel blue with hardtop and ragtop. http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sfc/cto/d/2003-ford-thunderbird-pastel/6714058502.html 2003 Ford Thunderbird Pastel Blue - $11499 San Francisco (925) 518-7437 Oops, that interior pic was an accident http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/cto/d/1955-ford-thunderbird/6710890219.html
  11. It's because you added a great deal of value to that previously rusty pile of parts, especially with the body you created. Potential buyers could see themselves taking it out on the road; enjoying it. I'm just sorry you didn't hold until you took it out for the first drive yourself.
  12. TSLA has a Market Cap of $45B, GM is $47.5B, and Ford is $37B. This is rather crazy. The p/e (stock price to earnings ratio) for GM is 8, and for Ford is 6. For Tesla there is none as it's not generating a profit. Someone on the investing board was saying he was shorting Tesla since it was $200-something, because for a stock to be over $200 when the company is far from showing a profit sounds over-priced. He got real mad when that tweet went out and the shares went up to something like $380. It's painful when you have a bet on the table that something is going down, and instead it goes up like that. Personally I do not short, have not in the past nor any plans to, nor do I trade options. But that fellow shorting is feeling better now. He'd also have a claim; htere could be a class-action on behalf of those that were shorting it and got harmed. Tesla is estimated to lose $ 5.50 per share this year, but start to actually show a modest profit for the 4th quarter. Find that hard to believe, but we'll see.
  13. Tesla CEO Elon Musk, company settle fraud suit for $40M Tesla CEO Elon Musk and the electric car company have agreed to pay a total of $40 million and make a series of concessions to settle a government lawsuit alleging Musk duped investors with misleading statements about a proposed buyout of the company. Good news. For him to have been removed as CEO would have been a huge shame. None of us took his tweet seriously. He was just being combative with critics who were constantly on him about not making production goals, when are you going to show a profit, etc, etc... I do realize there may still be a class-action lawsuit from those who bought the stock right around the time of that tweet. Those who understood shorted it when it made that move upward. Many people still expect to be able to short it all the way to near zero.
  14. Got the two (partial) hides today. They have several scrape marks in the field. Maybe that's why they are discounted the way they are. 1.5 mm thick, I took measurements at several locations.
  15. This thread is intellectually stimulating. Recently it thrust me into deep thought wondering if a "camelhair brush" and a "camel hairbrush" were the same thing. You know what I concluded? They are not. I agree with Dave: you should paint it yourself. A mirror-like concourse painting wouldn't be appropriate. Paint by brush if the brush strokes don't show would be good. I use these DuraBlock sanding blocks with adhesive roll paper and they work very well. The DuraBlock is a type of foam block that has a "memory foam" quality to it so you can bend it to conform to a curved surface and it will tend to stay that way. Or then flatten it back out to sand a flat surface. Only about $13 for a block and $20+ dollars for a very long roll of adhesive paper. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dura-Block-AF4402-Black-2-3-Sanding-Block/351394746575? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Norton-400-Grit-2-75-x-25yds-PSA-Sandpaper-Dura-Block-Gold-Sticky-Back-Roll/152041983580?
  16. It's on dvd This is a good movie with some classic cars in it, filmed in San Francisco.
  17. Here's what he said: Uncle George's Discount Leather Hides These are just black cowsides.....not shiney at all That's his answer to my question, if they were darker than the other "Graphite Black." So I don't know what that means, but you can interpret it. Anyway I just getting a couple because they are heavier, 4 oz, and price seems good. He's still selling these, $99, 50 sq ft, think we decided they were 2.5 oz weight, Black Graphite regular $225.00 $99.00 As a way of saying thanks for visiting our new site we purchased over 500 of these luxurious Black Graphite Automotive Upholstery hides and we are making them available to you for only $99 while they last. These hides have an average range, in size, from 46 to 52 sq and they are in the 1.0 mm range in thickness.
  18. No, I'm just going to buy a couple now, not intending to use them for auto upholstery. Use them for seat cushion in the house. I am wondering why they are so small 17-23 sq ft, whereas the graphite ones were 55 sq ft. I am getting 2 for $120 including shipping. ( edit: I did ask him your question regarding how dark these are. If I get an answer will pass it along.) He keeps throwing things up for sale on facebook. Also has red goatskin. $30 each, 3 oz weight, 7-9 sq ft.
  19. This same vendor now has thicker leather, 4 oz, on sale, much smaller hides, $50 each. I think 4 oz is about 1.75mm thick? 20. It really looks nice, especially from that perspective. It appears the slope of the top edge at the side of the passenger compartment matches the slope of the "boot lid." Very aerodynamic profile. (The Junek car just looked like the doors went missing.)
