  1. Would have looked like this one I suppose. I like that all doors open at the front.
  2. I have a very nice 1930 black and brandy Hudson Essex sedan for sale. My family has had these cars for more than 20 years. I also have a 1931 all black listed in a separate add. I just pulled them out of the garages to get some updated pictures (1/22/22) Both are in great original condition inside and out. If interested I have walk around videos that I can send. My now 85 yr old father enjoyed them for many years before his health failed and he could no longer drive. They have been stored in garages for the past 10 years. It is time to send these gems on to someone who can enjoy them. If they are still listed they are still available. I will modify the postings as they sell. They are each listed for $11,000 a piece. Clean title in hand. I also have a 1921 model T for sale $3,500. contact name: Jeff call or text: (707) 718-2767 https://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/cto/d/napa-1930-essex/7431719029.html
  3. The 1937 model year was really when Buick’s new Century lived up to its name. Mechanical improvements for 1937 were only incremental: compression up 0.3 psi (to 5.75:1), with the same bore and stroke, meant a new 130-horsepower rating. (From Hemmings) The chart I posted above says 114 psi for an engine with a compression ratio of 6.6 to 1. This much earlier '37 engine is very different so the chart I posted is not applicable. Sorry!
  4. Boyle's law This empirical relation, formulated by the physicist Robert Boyle in 1662, states that the pressure (p) of a given quantity of gas varies inversely with its volume (v) at constant temperature; i.e., in equation form, pv = k, a constant. Yes I think you're right. That is a low compression ratio, so readings below 100 psi are probably good. With a compression ratio of 5.75 to 1, the volume decreases by a factor of 5.75 during the compression stroke. So if Boyle's law holds the pressure must go up by a factor of 5.75 too. So the pressure in the cylinder when the piston is at the bottom is 14.7 psi but the gauge reads zero, because the gauge reads how much above atmospheric pressure you are. Then at the top of the stroke the pressure (absolute pressure) is 5.75 time 14.7 psi. But the gauge pressure would be (5.75 * 14.7) - 14.7 = 70 psi. Wow that is low compared to what I am used to. Absolute pressure minus 14.7 = Gauge pressure. That is since the gauge always reads how much above the ambient or atmospheric pressure you are at.
  5. Looks like someone inherited this vehicle and a piece of property. 29 Hudson passenger vehicle. Wondering if anybody is interested. Lot of other stuff on property. 29 Hudson
  6. Bob Vila and the original "This Old House" made the Boston area seem very attractive. And at some point became very expensive like San Francisco.
  7. The Shay has a fiberglass body. So you know something is seriously wrong every time you get near it. But for those who enjoy driving one, great! And it seems some look better than others. All white is not a good look though.
  8. Here's an example of one for sale. Price seems high to me. 104k miles. $14.5k. https://sacramento.craigslist.org/cto/d/shingle-springs-jaguar-xjs-convertible/7426473929.html
  9. If any are below 100 I'd say you have a problem. If all are above 100 good. If all 110 very good. General Specifications for the 263 and 320 straight eight Buick engines
  10. Here's a bunch more English cars ' https://sfbay.craigslist.org/sfc/cto/d/fresno-selling-large-classic-car/7432006228.html This is a rare opportunity to purchase what we believe to be the largest collection of classic Austin's in the United States. These cars are the result of a lifetime of collecting. They have been imported from England, Australia, Canada, the UK and have also been purchased from here in the states. They've been stored for decades inside a warehouse in Fresno and have recently been discovered. There's about 30 vehicles ranging from 1947 to 1954 and thousands of good parts. This is a once in a lifetime chance to purchase the entire collection and begin a new chapter restoring, selling and enjoying these cars! The price will include the 10,000sf warehouse until 12-31-22 so you have plenty of time to sell the collection car by car or to get started in the restoration business. You'll also have a huge parts inventory to sell and use towards your own projects. We have the cars listed on a website called rareaustins dot com for more detailed pictures. This is a local deal so we are open to offers and interesting trades. 1948 Austin A40 Dorset (3) 1949 Austin A40 Dorset (1) 1952 Austin A40 Sports (aluminum body convertible) 1948 Austin 40 Devon (1) 1950 Austin 40 Devon (2) 1952 Austin A40 Pickup (2) 1950 Austin A40 Ice cream truck 1954 Austin A40 Ice cream truck 1948 Austin 40 Countryman 1950 Austin 40 Countryman 1953 Austin 40 Countryman 1947 Austin 40 Panel 1949 Austin 40 Panel (2) 1952 Austin 40 Panel 1953 Austin 40 Panel 1952 Austin 40 Woodie 1953 Austin A70 Saloon 1950 Austin A70 Countryman 1950 Austin Atlantic A90 (2) 1950 Austin Atlantic A90 Convertible (2) 1951 Austin Atlantic A90 1952 Standard Station Wagon
  11. Another English car in New York area. 1964 English Austin FX4 London Taxi - $1,800 (Cornwall Bridge) - $1,800 (Cornwall Bridge CT) The iconic London taxi. This one drove to where it has been parked for many years. It is quite rusty underneath and some rust elsewhere. Front floors are pretty much rusted out (see photo). There are probably other issues as well. I know it needs new headlights and tires. The windshield is cracked, but it's flat glass so an easy job for any good automotive glass shop. The heavy frame is quite sturdy. The engine turns with a wrench on the crankshaft nut. Haven't tried it on the starter motor but I would guess it will crank over. 06705 on the odometer. 2178cc. Austin diesel engine, four speed transmission. This would be great as an eyecatcher in front of a pub or other business with a quick coat of paint on it. I suppose it could be restored as well with a good bit of work. The meter (in pesetas for some reason) is not connected. Bill of sale only. No title on Connecticut vehicles older than 1990. I can deliver this for $1.50 per one-way mile, or help load it on a truck. https://newyork.craigslist.org/que/cto/d/cornwall-bridge-english-austin-fx4/7429998143.html 90ae7c74015e3d48861764c7c1582cc7@sale.craigslist.org
  12. Seller's Description Here is a 1934 Austin Ruby, this is a rare car in the states and cherished in the UK. These were the first cars to be cut down for many specials. They competed in hill climbs and rallies across England. This is a cool little car looks like a mini Ford Vickey. Was running and driving years back then got sidetracked and stashed away. Just put new tire and tubes on the old girl. Try to find another… Text me for more information 914 three 88 zero 377 914-388-0377 Steven Busch 1934 Austin ruby-seven Sliding top $7,500 Listed 3 days ago in Palenville, NY There is the phone number right there in the description.
  13. Maybe you can't see it because you are not logged in to Facebook? It has NOT been sold. I could forward your phone number to the seller if you like. or your email. And you could get information directly from the seller, pictures sent, etc. There are no pictures of the engine posted by the seller if that's what you are wondering.
  14. I think I could calibrate it myself if I felt the need.
  15. Reserve not met at $565,000. Some "experts" think a proper sales venue other than BAT would have seen it sell for closer to $1 million. No Sale! this time around.
  16. A 20's Rat Rod would look something like these. I've seen this type locally.
  17. Someone "private message" the original poster so something will go to their email, alerting there is much irrelevant discussion that has gone on here.
  18. Well he should just mail it to you then. Problem solved. For the cost of postage. And maybe some loose change for payment.
  19. Very interesting fellow, Redmond Turner "RT" Price Jr.
