    This 1935 Auburn 851 cabriolet is powered by a supercharged 280ci Lycoming L-head straight-eight paired with a three-speed manual transmission and a two-speed rear axle. It was acquired by the seller approximately 15 years ago and subsequently refurbished, with work including a repaint in maroon with a tan soft top over replacement tan leather upholstery. Features include a rumble seat, a side-mounted spare wheel, a period Crosley radio, and a heater. This Auburn 851 has won a first-place award at the Auburn-Cord-Duesenberg reunion and is now offered with ACD Club documentation and a clean Illinois title in the seller’s name listing the last five digits of the car’s serial number.

    Supercharged 1935 Auburn 851 Cabriolet

    The cabriolet body was constructed by the Central Manufacturing Company of Connersville, Indiana, a Cord subsidiary. It is said to have received bodywork before a repaint in its current maroon with gold pinstripes under current ownership. Features include a tan soft top, polished teardrop-style headlight housings, chrome bumpers, a split-folding hood, full fenders, running boards, rear-hinged doors, and dual Auburn-branded taillights.

Derived from the all-conquering racing cars of 1952, the production model of the 300 SL was introduced to the public on February 6, 1954 at the New York International Automobile Show.  A total of 1400 Gull Wing coupes were built during the period 1954 to 1957, 29 of which featured all aluminum bodies.

    The total number of Roadsters produced between 1957 and 1963 was 1858.

    Cost. The price for the Coupe in Germany was DM 29,000 and $6,820 in the US. The Roadster was DM 32,500 in Germany and $10,950 in the US

  3. The Jaguar XK120 is a sports car manufactured by Jaguar between 1948 and 1954. It was Jaguar's first sports car since SS 100 production ended in 1939.

    The XK120 was listed as a desirable car in the recent Hagerty news letter.

    Are XK120's increasing in value, decreasing in value, or value is steady ?

    What are the demographics for those who like XK120's ?

     

  4. The XK120 prediction is interesting (based, I gather, on an uptick in quotes among Gen-Xers for those cars in recent months).  Prices have been falling, for that and many other similar 50s two-seaters, so a predicted turn-around is worth watching for.

    I like XK120's, a friend has one and a small fleet of xke's

    Are XK120's going up or down in value ?

    Gen X likes XK120's ?  How did this happen ?

    The article is pretty good.  Like you I am aware of everything they wrote, for many others this will be news.

     

    In 2019 I bought a 69 CB750 sandcast for $5000, the guy had two of them, what the heck one will do.
    In 2020  a project sandcast sold for $16k on ebay (just like mine).
    Well you know what they say about hind sight.

  6. This 1964 Aston Martin DB5 is a left-hand-drive example and was the fifth of approximately 900 coupes built during the model’s two-year production run. Chassis 1305/L was completed on October 10, 1963 and delivered through British Motor Car Distributors of San Francisco to its first owner, the manager of a fruit and produce company in Yakima, Washington.
