  6. I'm selling my awesome completely rust free, very fast 8 cylinder Imperial Airflow Coupe in almost completely original condition. Needs nothing. The overdrive allows very high speeds and works flawlessly. I have owned 125 prewar classics and this is certainly the fastest, smoothest, most dependable car I have ever owned. The Imperials had the big straight 8 cylinder motors. Everything on this car works, even the wipers and gauge! When was the last time you owned a car where the gas gauge actually worked? A brand new 6V electric fuel pump and turn signals were added. The interior is believed to be original. The engine compartment has never been detailed. Same with the undercarriage, other than a hot pressure wash @ 3000 psi just 2 weeks ago. This car leaks no oil at all. Hydraulic brakes are new for safety reasons. Whitewalls are 2 months old. This is truly a time capsule and the most reliable car you will ever own. Partial trades considered. 3 window 40's Coupes that are not Ford or Chevy are put to the front of my wish list. For full description and lots of photos, here's my Hemmings ad link: https://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/cars-for-sale/chrysler/airflow/2174852.html tom griffith/madison,wisconsin 608-212-8774 lincoln1955@msn.com $118,000 OBO

  8. I am all oiling it through that little oiler cup with the flip up cap attached to the throwout bearing underneath the inspection cover.
  9. Yes I have tried the lighter penetrating oil as well as regular 30 weight and it’s gotten a little better but still it’s quite annoying.
  10. Is there a bolt on transmission replacement for the transmission in a '32 Chevy Confederate that would work without altering anything else to fit it in? tom griffith lincoln1955@msn.com
  11. Thank you for your advice. Yesterday I did takeoff that inspection cover and discovered that indeed there was a little flip up cover where you can put in oil. So I did. The next day after I let the oil sit in there overnight I started the car in about 60% of the noise went away . This morning I went out there and started it again and now I would say 85% of the noise went away, so apparently it worked. Thank you everyone for your detailed comments and helping a fellow car collector out. Tom
  12. Thanks. Now I'll see if I can get to it without having to take it out. Much appreciated.
  13. The only places I could find to put oil are the 1/2" plug in the first photo located in the center of the photo just under that arm; and, where the blue piece of tape with the arrow drawn on it is. I started the car and it still whines when you push in the clutch. And the faster you rev the engine with the clutch in, the faster the whine gets. I am missing something here? How do you lubricate the thing that making the squeal without pulling the trani out?
  14. Thanks for the advice. I'll try adding some oil as you suggested. No, it's not the 'ball type', but rather a disc looking thing with a hole in the center with an insert in the donut that looks to be made of something that's not metal, but rather some composite material.
  15. As I said, I did not lube it at all before installing it. Should I take it back out and coat it with grease or soak it in oil or what?
  16. Here's a link to my Hemmings ad for the most beautiful 30's Packard Super Eight with newly installed Overdrive you will ever drive. tom griffith/madison wisconsin lincoln1955@msn.com 608-212-8774 The car was just invited to be displayed at the Amelia Island Concours in March. I'm holding off on filling in the paperwork until I know who the new owner will be. https://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/cars-for-sale/packard/super-8/2169654.html Trades considered.
  17. I installed an NOS throw-out bearing in my '32 Chevy Confederate. Every time I push in the clutch it squeals like a pig. Was I supposed to soak that bearing in oil or something before I installed it? Or is it something else? Thanks. tom griffith/wisconsin
