  1. Well congratulations! I'm still at work and will work a half day tomorrow.
  2. Haven't picked it up yet but finally got a compressor that will allow me to use my sand blast cabinet.
  3. Here is a video I copied off the Drudge Report. Hopefully it will work. Really full of cars as they were new. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10348569/Amazing-remastered-color-video-LA-1930s-shows-city-life-old-traffic.html
  4. Looks like Captain Nemo's last ride.
  5. Wow, collecting all known Jones cars would really be "Keeping up with the Joneses". Sorry I couldn't resist!
  6. I figured he had to be gone for many years as he seemed old to me as a kid. He always seemed so enthused to be showing his car and treated me well. Now you have my interest up. I didn't know he had a collection and where is it now?
  7. I also was a teenager during the early 70's and made the rounds of the AACA shows in the south. My dad always referred to his 31 Model A Deluxe Roadster as a "Sport" Roadster but turns out Henry never made that designation for a roadster. His car, (mine now) has the double sided wide whitewalls, orange wheels, dual side mounts with metal covers and of course, a spotlight. My dad loved all the bling so I guess he was the "Sport". When we restored my early 30 Model A Rdst. PU during that time we chose a non standard color and also went with the WW tires. I never did like the color or the WW's. Some vehicles just need to be plain. MY2centavos.
  8. HOW LONG IS YOUR GARAGE? This is why the '50s were such a special time ! Continental kits were special \ The good ol' days ....
  9. Took a little time on Saturday to disassemble the rear springs on my 36 Ford. I have to admit that I felt like I was defusing a landmine just waiting for it to bite me but with 4 heavy C-clamps and patience I got it all apart and started on the cleaning prep for painting. I had thought about just painting the outside of the springs but finally talked myself into doing it right. While in the process I filled my parts washer with cleaner so tonight when I get home I can scrub the leaves. (leafs?) I have the rear hubs apart too so will scrub on them as well. Sand blaster did a great job but missed some greasy spots. My goal is to have the chassis sitting on its wheels by spring.
  10. In the 60's my dad was building a building with metal trusses and I happened to be watching. My grandmother (his mom) came by and picked up the welder and started welding as if she had done it all before. I learned that she had, she built ships during the war.
  11. I have enjoyed your restoration journey. It gives me encouragement to see restorations that take years to accomplish. It helps me realize that I will finish mine some day!
  12. My dad was always there for me. Not really outwardly but behind the scenes. He was my catcher when I was an aspiring pitcher in "Little League". He always kept me busy with busy but interesting work. He sent me to a strict private school and when I was about ready to get kicked out for cussing he took the blame and told the principle that I had learned it from him. Actually graduated from the school. He bought me an early 30 Model A Rdst. PU for my 15th birthday and then spent the next 9 months working with me 6 or 7 nights a week to restore it. Still have the truck 50 years later. But I think most of all, my dad was a real gentleman, a man's man and a good husband. My mother had issues that took her to alcohol. Dad stood by her through that journey and was probably her route to eventual freedom. If my wife compliments me it is usually along with the words, 'you are like your dad". I don't think I can get better praise! After mom died dad met a nice lady and called me up one day to ask my permission to get married again. He never wanted to do anything to dim our view of him. He got my approval. Probably not the response asked for in this post but these are a few of my memories of who my dad was.
  13. When I was a kid in S. Florida there was a Saxon in the area. It was owned by Tommy Hanson (SP) who always dressed for the era and loved his car. I look forward to following your progress.
  14. Looks like a great car. I'm looking forward to watching the build.
  15. I enjoyed listening to "Car Talk". I always wondered about all the people still driving the older cars and working on them not knowing the show had been off air for many years and I was listening to reruns. Turned out the cars with problems weren't actually that old.
  16. I come to this site almost daily in hopes of an update. While I do not understand most of what I see or read, and am in awe of such ability, I am also motivated to work on my own projects. I know that I will never match up to such skill levels but I also know that with the help of this Forum and others I can get my car finished and eventually drive it. Your work inspires me!
  17. I joined the site and will see if anyone can help. Thanks for the information!
  18. A number of years ago my grandfather sold his Overland to a man in Okeechobee, Fl. I heard the car was resold and ended up in Ireland. I would love to know where it is today and of course buy it but I'm sure that is out of my price range. It was an amateur restoration of a car that only had 900 miles on it. Two brothers who worked a farm together bought the car new but their wives had a falling out as to which husband got to drive the car. The brothers wisely parked the car and it became a "real" barn find.
  19. Well, we have made the move to NC and after remodeling a house and trying to get into a groove of caring for the in-laws I have finally had a little time to get my shop in order. I have a lot to do to the shop before it is what I want but I'm making progress. So as to not lose any parts and to make more room for my other cars I put the body on the chassis along with the hood and fenders. It sure looks good and will be nice and cozy sitting in the corner until I can get to it.
  20. Thanks, I'm afraid you are right on the bike. I guess it will remain as yard art to look at as I pass by.
  21. I saw this on Facebook and the fact checker was all upset that what you see happening in the picture wasn’t really happening. They were trying to cover for the electric car propaganda.
