  1. Steele lists them both,  70-1853-2 that mounts to the body and 40-0018-52 that slides in the channel on the windshield frame.  Bernbaum also lists the second part for half the cost ($40 vs $83)A-310.  So I'll order those soon.

My concern right now is finding lots of rust in the frame when I take it off, of I can figure out how to get out off the windshield.   I don't see rust evidence elsewhere, so it's a bit strange.   The frame itself seems hard to find and expensive if you do find it!

I'd also like to find an electric wiper conversion if anyone knows where to find one.   I dint like vacuum wipers (or anything really).  My C3 had vacuum headlights, that got ripped out after a few winking headlight moments in favor of electric mirrors from a Mazda Miata.  I've seen kits for hot rods, but $400 seems excessive and I'm guessing they are 12v.

  2. Ok, so I'm getting the interior sorted it's fine too start looking at the next step.   I need to address the windshield.   The glass is fine, it just needs new rubber and the range has a few questionable areas.

O know I've seen worse, is this likely to be fixable?

Also, I have found the rubber that attached to the outer frame.   I havn't found the piece that attaches to the window itself.

The clips that are closest to mine that they still have in stock are number 1195 black. They don't have any more of the retainer plates.

Progress report... mineral spirits behaved just as I suspected.   After a few hours in the mineral spirits, the decal and paint were visibly damaged, so I went for it with spray foaming degreaser.  Three decal is completely gone and it will need repainted.   Fortunately I found the decals.

So now the copper mesh is once again copper and water flows pretty well (it didn't at first), I'm still now faced with a dilemma...I am NOT doing this every time it needs cleaned.   So I will either have to take @jpage advice of pulling it apart (Although I question how that will hold up over time), or run the filter dry and pan to clean it regularly with a water hose.

    Thanks, I'll check with them

  5. Is there a way to clean this out?  The shell doesn't seem to come apart that I can see.   The media is obviously VERY dirty and in need of cleaning.   Was it a one use part and then you replace it altogether?

I can recast the window crank knobs with no problem.  The dash knobs are more complicated.  I'm currently discussing similar knobs from a '36 Dodge and Chrysler.  The cost is not excessive.

I'll send an email through your website, but can you cast them so they bolt on with some kind of shoulder bolt instead of the rivet?

  7. Ive been struggling to find a solution here, hopefully the collective can help me out.  Im slowing redoing a 36 Plymouth P2 Deluxe.  The window cranks and door handles could use a re-chrome.  The problem is the bakelite knobs are riveted in somehow and I can see a way of removing a replcing them.  I have also not found a source for the correct color/style replacements (for the cranks or any of the dash knobs).  Is there a way to remove and re-install these somehow?  Or a place the can re-create them with a threaded instert instead of whatever rivet contraption they used?  Pic to follow soon.

  8. Thanks, I was trying door card clips and wasn't getting any hits.   I now recall we discussed this a while ago too (my days of working on this are WAY to far in-between!).  I'm going to try a few of these and see if they are a good match.   They are proud of them and their shipping ($25 to ship a few ounces!!)

  9. Not worth the risk to roll around in old tires.   Even if the there is no visible dry rot old tire can be dangerous.   There was a recent thread on another site where a visibly fine, but old tire blew out catastrophically.   Although it soars ok, the rubber is worn out and fatigued.   It's just not worth the risk.   Spend the money and get new tires at least every 10yrs.

  10. I would kind of like to hook up dual horns for the P2.  I'm wandering if there was an underhood dual setup in 36.  I've seen the headlight mount option and not interested in that at this point (outrageously expensive). If there was a factory option I'll see if I can find one.   Otherwise I have a line on a pair from a 48i may be able to fit.   Dad has aP15 with the same horns and they sound great.

there are two RESTORATION SPECTALTIES       one in Winber PA and one in California        the on in PA supplied the clips for my restoration    as for as the board as I remember had a problem getting a size big enough to duplicate the old piece    would check local uppolstry shops or supply houses

I never realized there were two, so they both have websites?

  12. I thought of remaking the cars, but the clips give me pause.   I think my cards are usable.   Could be reinforced with some rigid plastic sheet maybe.   The weatherstripping is shot though, so that's another problem. 20221231_202553.jpg.ff06a7254682aad03bda15dcba42ccd8.jpg20221231_202546.jpg.1dbdaca166c3dcad1918e8bb62bcc2f2.jpg
