I believe the windshield garnish has to come off first. That's coming up on my list as well, so I havn't done it yet. I did get as far as you though, removed the screws and it looks like the garnish is holding it in.

I didn't see any on the site, but I havn't called yet. Worst case, it looks like standard 10-24 speed nuts will work. At least well enough.

Hey gang, I'm looking for the speed nuts that hold the door bumpers in the pillar. I dropped one down the pillar and a few are pretty rusty. I can't find them at Bernbaum or Robert's. Although both have the bumpers, but not the speed nuts.

Got a little color on. The hubcap is an extra I'm playing with. Honestly I like the color stripe. Just a splash of color I think really brings this car to life!

There are LED replacement available as well that are much brighter. A welcome safety improvement in my mind

Y they have the stripe in sunburst, but not two tone. At least ours did as early as the 60s. I've seen others as well.

Did you make a template and do the wheel yourself? I'm considering the steps myself with pinstripe tape. Maybe there is s way for the wheel too?

I'll have someone do the stripe on the side and wheels. I'll do the chevron myself. I plan to supply the paint. My paint guy knows it's for lettering/ striping paint. I love your wheels! Mine won't be two tone like that, but the stripe is similar. Not sure if I want the outer stripe or perhaps one on the hubcap instead of black

Since I can't find and exact code or paint chip, I'm just going with what I like. Narrowed it down to these two. The blue green color is a59 dodge truck color, the other one is just a paint chip from home depot 😅. Leaning towards the dodge color right now. This is just the pinstripe, wheel stripe and headlight chevron. Original color is "spring green #2" but there's no reference for that color.

Thanks for that. Mine are indeed cracked. I tried aJB weld repair but it didn't seem to hold to well. Might try and clean it and try again. As for leaking, maybe a better gasket material or a more permanent sealant would work better. Like permatex gasket maker. Being a later model is fine. Not to far off to imagine a 10yo car getting a new accessory. Beside that, this is one gramps had in a box of parts he left when he passed. So it's going into the car he left me as well.

It's vinyl wrap! I'm amazed how well it turned out! $240 for both bumpers and the 2 good guards I've got. For the price difference, I'll run this until I can stomach the bill for chrome. It's convincing at 10-15ft. Up close you can tell it's not chrome, but still looks pretty good. Prep is key. They must be CLEAN AND SMOOTH. I spent a full day sanding on them and still missed a few spots. But I'm thrilled for the money.

If by maneuverable, you mean light enough for a few young lads to pick up; and by peppy, you mean light enough to Fred Flintstone it home when the gears go out 😅. Otherwise you and I have very different experiences with Yugo's or very different definitions of maneuverable and peppy! But having said that, I can appreciate well maintained or restored cars of any make! Enjoy!

I didn't find any bolts. No grease cap either, sorry. Plenty of random gaskets and such though!

I determined that to be the case as well, but it was really a guess 😅 I was just so excited to get the bumper back on I couldn't wait! I present to you; the poor man's chrome!😅 front is so being worked on. Maybe tomorrow.

Hey guys, I can't seem to recall which direction the rest bumper brackets go. One is marked BO, other than that I don't see any markings. Should they angle up, or down?

I've mentioned before that I believe the car was hit at some point. Here is the worst example of that, passenger frame horn is about a half inch further out than the driver side. I haven't measured the frame yet, but I suspect it may actually be more of an issue with the fenders being mounted poorly than the frame being bent. The drivers side fender shows signs of a weld repair at the seam and the license plate bracket was mangled pretty good. As it sits, the passenger side frame horn will not be completely concealed by the cover or rubber pad. I'm trying to determine a good measurement that I can get to to see if it's in tolerance or not. Has anyone done any frame measurements on an assembled car? What are the easiest points to access to determine square?

I would think mineral spirits would damage the paint on the compass card??

Finally got this refinished. We painted it 4 times, kept having some reaction with the paint. Switched to an etching primer and it worked great. Rather than oil, I'm just going to give s light spray with a machine oil and rinse it out once or twice a year with a hose.

It would be a chore to get it apart, although you could do as jpage suggests.

Great, something else to spend my k money on!

I'm trying to restore the old beaconlite compass for use in my 36 Plymouth. The compass turns freely on its own, but when I fill the globe with mineral oil it turns excruciatingly slow so as to be unusable. Is there something other than mineral oil I should be using?
