  1. Thank you Charles for your answer. I guess you mean that torsional spring in the following pictures? Any Idee where I get such replacement parts? Yannick
  2. Hi there I'm owning a 53 Pontiac Catalina with an Inline 8 which I actually rebuild. I had also an issue with the hydra-matic so I decided to check the transmission. Always when pushed in Neutral or when towed I had a rattling noise coming from the tranny that stoped when the car reached a certain velocity. I opend it and located the source of that noise. There is a Parking Brake Gear and sort of blocker lever. And this lever causes the rattling noise. Now. I am no sure, if this is a Problem. Usually I don't move the car in Neutral. Perhaps there is a problem with a valve that doesn't keep the blocker off the parking brake gear in Neutral. The parking brake blocker lever the parking brake gear with slight signs of wear. the lever is removed Blocker lever and gear disassembled. Hope my english isn't too bad, it's not my mother tongue.
  3. Hello Last year I bought a 1964 Galaxie 500. We wanted to rebuild the engine and for that, we took it out. The car had originally a 289 V8 but later somebody put a FE390 in it. They told me, it is a 1964 Engine - but I am not sure if I can trust the vendor. Together with the engine, they swapped the transmission. Originally it had a standard manual - at least the trim tag says so. Now it is a 3-Speed A/T. Now I am wondering, which one it is. First I thougt, it would be a C6 but the oil pan ist rectangular. So I need some help to identify the tranny. Sadly this is the only picture I can take at the moment, 'cause the car hoist is occupied. The dust Cover says C5AP-79986-E. The bellhousing is painted black. Is it possible to identify the transmission by the bellhousing? Thanks for your help. Yannick
