  1. thank you for the news ! , your Buick will be very beautiful
  2. Santa Claus brought me some lovely presents ! Two Shelby sweaters, Shelby socks and two beautiful decorative plaques
  3. Merry Christmas and Happy new year to all !
  4. Thank you so much Yes, I like this black Buick on the ad . There's still a little work to be done on my Buick, and when it's finished I'm going to drive it, drive it a lot :). I will continue to maintain it, and I am happy to ride with it :). As "Rocky" said in one of his films "he wanted to drive his 58 Chevy until the tires burst" :D. When my Buick is finished, I'm going to work on my 1978 Dodge Monaco police (there's some body work, we need to redo the bottom of the rear and front fenders, etc. ). I will also continue to maintain my parents' 1941 Buick And I don't know if I presented it to you, but in 2018 I bought (saved), a 1969 Buick Electra 225 Limited 4-door hardtop, and I want to repair it It is complete, the registration document and the engine are missing. So I have something to keep me busy
  5. Thank you so much EmTee ! the rear of the car is almost finished Thank you very much JohnD1956 , I will see over time if it lasts long, but the person on the videos does this method for all restorations of yellowed plastic . I'm leaving this morning for a week to work in the mountains, near the Pyrenees in the south of France. I won't be able to connect to the forum because there is no internet, so I will only post the photos of the rest at the end of the week or during the weekend
  6. Then the support gasket. I couldn't find a remanufacture of the seal, so I have to make it. Originally it was a 3mm foam seal, and so I bought a roll of 3mm foam (I couldn't find a small quantity) the black foam roller in 3 mm Then I redo a joint using the old one Then the second white joint, of the globe. This joint has shrunk over time and it will have to be redone with the correct dimensions So I bought white joint/foam plates to redo this joint Then clean the screws, the license plate lighting pilot light is ready to be reassembled Then reassembly The plate lighting night light is finished . The next step is the Buick logo / locked trunk cover, and I will post the photos at the end of the week
  7. Then the night light support The support had been repainted in a gray color, but we can see behind that there are still places with the original color, it was anodized in “gold/copper” color. Sandblasting Light gray priming Then painting. I looked for a painting that was closer to the original, but it looks a little more like a Christmas ball than the original. But it's still better than what it was Its cable will also be cleaned
  8. And I start with the window / plastic globe which has yellowed For this I would first try to make it come back transparent before saying to change it (no remanufacturing, but you can find it in NOS). For this I took inspiration from a video that I saw on the internet. I like watching videos of restoration of everything (it can be a work tool, computer devices, home, car, etc.) because it gives ideas for restoring lots of objects. And so for this plastic “globe” I would do exactly as I saw on a video. So I will need a blue LED strip (black light) 12% hydrogen peroxide Aluminum foil Then a jar or transparent plastic. Then we surround the jar with the LED strip, with the LEDs on the inside side of the jar Then we wrap the jar with aluminum foil to reflect the LED lighting Then here's how it looks inside Then I pour the hydrogen peroxide into the jar Then I turn on the LEDs and leave it on for a full day (from Saturday morning at 10 a.m. until the next day, Sunday at 10 a.m.) plastic is better than before Before and after Here is the video that inspired me for the night light globe. This method starts from 5min30 on the video This method works on transparent and opaque plastic, of all colors. He explains in his videos that he leaves the plastic parts soaked for more or less 1 day, and if the plastic is really yellowed he leaves it soaked for a little more time. This method also works without the LED strips, just with sunlight, but it takes much longer, at least 1 week to leave soaked.
  9. Hello everyone, here is some Buick news . So still on the rear of the car but with a much smaller part than the bumper . So I continued with the license plate light, which is not in great condition. The plastic has yellowed The joint is no longer watertight Joins shrunk
  10. Hello, I have just discovered this sales site in America, and I saw this ad for a very beautiful Buick ! If it was in France I would have bought it! , it's a survivor, a very beautiful 1969 Buick Electra 225 coupe, black in color, and it is in good condition! It even has the “cruise control” option ! And the price is low, it's not expensive ! https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1969-buick-electra-225-2/
  11. Thanks a lot for your answers . I made a new joint with a sheet of black foam (joint plate), I will see if it is good. And if my new seal is not good, I will reassemble the original seal
  12. Thank you very much ! , I just looked and they have the joint I need ! https://www.steelerubber.com/hood-to-cowl-weatherstrip-with-ends-set-70-3876-43
  13. good news, the Buick will continue to drive
  14. Woaww beautiful ! I like !! I didn't know the Chevrolet Laguna, it looks like the Chevelle of the same year . you are very lucky, I would really like to see the cars, Chevrolet, Buick , ... , dealership, buildings, in the 70s No, I don't think there were any Renault Lagunas imported into America. French vehicles were imported into America until 1985 I believe, and the Renault Laguna dates from the early 1990s (phase 1 was produced until 1999 (if I'm not mistaken) and there were some modification between 1990 and 1999). The Renault Laguna (and the Renault Safrane too) are solid cars, they can cover a lot of kilometers/miles and we still see them on the road. Someone in my town has a beautiful Laguna V6 Dark Blue with Renault aluminum rims, it is in very good condition. I like the Laguna because it reminds me a lot of the Buick Park Avenue. For the quality of Renaults, it's true that there is a rumor/bad reputation and in France we say "with Renault, always a new noise", or "buy a Renault and go back on a bike", ... But this is not for all models. Renault is a brand for everyone, for small budgets and big budgets. There is low end and high end. The Renault cars that have a bad reputation will be the low-end cars. The Renault Laguna, Safrane, 19, Mégane, Clio , ... are good cars, reliable and solid
  15. Okay, it's good that it's still used and still running . I don't know if you knew this model, but here in France there was no Buick Park Avenue in the 90s (only imported), but Renault had made the Renault Laguna. And the Laguna was the great French Sedan of the 90s. They have a few things in common: Large sedan, comfortable, very solid engine, quiet, and the high-end version has a lot of options, leather interior, etc., and there is also a version with the V6. And they look a bit similar too. here's a photo
  16. hello and thank you for the photos. Your station wagon is superb ! , I've never seen ! Do you know if the new owner is a Buick enthusiast ? , will he keep it for the saved ?
  17. Do you have a photo of your 1999 Buick ? Here in France I have only seen a Buick station wagon from the early 1990s, they are rare! Here is a photo found on the internet of the same Buick station wagon that I saw : https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1992-buick-roadmaster-7/ Did you often see these Buicks (like in the photo) from the 90s on the road? Are they rare in America ? I love this Buick station wagon, I find it magnificent !
  18. Thank you for the photos of your new Buick, here in France we don't know the new Buick models, and some people don't know this brand (I'm talking about people who don't like cars. An enthusiast knows this brand). It is beautiful, and as you say, it seems to be a high-end car. The engine seems small, a bit like here in Europe... I would definitely see a V8 7L on this Buick !
  19. Hello, I sent messages to the sites for the clips of my Buick, but the first site does not answer me and the second site told me to send a message to an email address that they sent me but I never got a response. So I think they don't have these clip models . So I'm looking for these clips : I am also looking for the seal of the Buick emblem on the trunk, this hides the trunk lock And I'm also looking for this seal, there are two, one on each side, it's located at the front of the car between the hood and the windshield bay , I apologize in the photos the measurements are in cm (centimetre) Thank you
