  1. I like the car but the owner is delusional. Seeing far too many of these guys advertising with too many zero's in their price.
  2. I'm cruising on the north side of Lake Erie. Port Stanley Ontario. Pictures soon I hope.
  3. Ah yes. The TR7 & TR8 finished off Triumph for good..,at least here in Canada. Today Steve I was able to finally yard drive my TR6. A big step forward as it hadn't moved under it's own power in many decades.
  4. Floors. A major problem if they are rusted. Monocoque type chassis and very difficult to restore properly and $$$. As others wiser than I have said, clean, clean, and re clean for a few days. I'd add spin the spark plugs out, soak with brake fluid in the cylinders for a few days and then turn over with a bar on the crank. If it's freed up it worth more. These old 390 FE big blocks are not too hard to work on.
  5. I drove a 1970 Fury back in 1976 From Ontario to Florida that was a $150 car. Plan was to buy a 57 Corvette to drive back and just sell the Fury to a junkyard. The Corvette was a piece of scrap, owner was a real scammer ( Hemmings Ad). So couldn't find anything else so figured better try to get the Fury to make it back home. Opened the hood to check oil, etc and found a broken plug wire. Got that fixed, put in almost 4 quarts of oil, some anti-freeze, topped up the transmission fluid and power steering and headed home after partying a bit. I was 21 at the time. The old rusty Fury ran great and got better mileage than ever out of that 318. After a full 21 hour journey I parked it in a snow drift until almost spring. It fired right up again and I kept it for another season. Looked a lot like the subject car except for the rust and dents!
  6. Last year I had 3 manual stick shift's none with A/C. I've done my time in the August heat/heavy traffic. Too old to Not enjoy cars. Only one for this year. 1972 TR6. 4 speed no overdrive and no A/C. Not going to see much wheel time after May until late September.
  7. Yep. The knees do dictate the choice. The increase in traffic doesn't help either!
  8. As someone who was in the 4 speed no A/C club as a kid I'm finally over that. Gotta have Air and automatic. Last year is 1st pic. This year 2nd pic. LOL
  9. Lovely car. Too far off of my radar and budget to opine upon. Still love it! The last time I was up close to a Duesy was back in 1990 at The Imperial in Vegas. Made reservations to spend time and sip a few in The Duesenburg Room. I've never forgot it. All them sitting side by side with Cord's and Auburn's. The caretaker guy was very nice when I chatted with him. He seemed to enjoy that I knew a bit about them.
  10. Yes, I agree. It looks like a Mop N' Glo job. The chrome reverse and baby Moons don't really help. Makes it look like a "flipper" car to me. I do like these 69-70 Cougar's. But in an era colour. I had a 69 coupe in Butterscotch with a ginger vinyl top and "Comfort weave" ginger interior.
  11. The 1st gen Corvairs had different tire pressure recommendations for front and rear and labels also. Of course nobody paid any attention to that.
  12. Yep, I can't imagine one of these being forgotten very easily. Especially when owned by a prominent Baroness who likely had the money to maintain servicing on it. Any shop that did service it would keep tabs on it as well as any family or friends.
  13. As a 66 Marlin owner I do prefer the horizontal lights. But I see your point on the 67 stacked front clip. This car is a smokin deal for someone local.
  14. These have great lines and even the roof is scalloped. Last year for the fabulous "dome dash". 413 4 bbl under the hood. This is a man sized early 60's muscle car with more doors. Serious highway cruiser at WOT.
  15. Yes. I'm likely wrong about the K-H wheels. The base Marauders sold up here in Canada had the fake "Mag wheel" hubcaps it seems. One of the best looking hubcaps ever. I'm a big fan of the 1968-72 Mercury cars, and have owned a few back in the day but never a Marauder. A long lost buddy of mine had a red 70 X-100 with the 429, blackout rear panels and ivory white bucket seat interior. He traded in it on a new 1973 Mustang Mach 1 Q code 351 4 speed when he got a job at the Ford Oakville Ontario plant. I was too young and poor to buy it, but have never forgot it!
  16. Replacing rusty frames in Canada is a necessity in a lot of cases. Take the Toyota trucks from 2000 forward. Lots of Chevy Silverado's as well. Almost any C2 or C3 Corvette that was sold new up here and then driven in the salty winter seasons even for a few years has had the frames rewelded or replaced. My 1st Vette was a 1965 convertible bought in 1979-80. The frame was rotted thru on the main rails behind the sidepipes at 15 years old.
  17. My Grandpa sold and serviced Case and David Brown tractors in the 50's and 60's. My hometown of Woodstock was farm country in S-W Ontario. The 1st vehicle I got to drive was a tractor traded in. A 1939 Allis Chalmers. He told my brother and I if we could get it running we could have it. He tutored us and taught us about ignition timing, magneto's and how to crank start it. Lot's of fun for a 13 yr old!
  18. Red was a very common color on these Marauders. It's a base stripper model. Bolt action 3 on the tree, no A/C, crank windows, no clock, and looks like a base FE 390. The K-H wheels are not present so maybe sold new with hubcaps? looks like a common Canadian bare bones model that snuck back across the border!
  19. Recently read an ad for a nice El Camino SS. "I will only deal with people showing respect, thank you" The seller was a very nice guy tired of all the B.S. that comes with listing a car privately on the internet. Was able to contact him with a few polite questions, didn't hear back. Checked the ad in the morning and it was deleted. So I figured it sold right away or he got frustrated. Got a text from him an hour later stating that I was welcome to come look at it, and even though I wasn't the 1st response he appreciated manners. When I did get there he showed me the list of emails received and how stupid most of them were. The ad also mentioned the price was FIRM, no lowballers, no negotiating an already attractive price, etc. The car was much better than described with a good photo documentation of the restoration. My only question was how did he wish to be paid, cash, bank draft, or we meet at the bank and transfer funds.
  20. You won't hear back. Scammers are looking for a e-transfer deposit on car they downloaded some pictures of. Not a car they possess.
