  1. As per the ad "Clear coat is pealing but the original paint is still perfect". Makes this a 1 of 1 1972 Ford LTD as they were single stage paint from the factory. This is a very very rare car!!! Or simply B.S. You decide. Also the lovely side trim ala' Pep Boys or Walmart is likely the "original'.
  2. Seller is on a fishing trip thats all. I don't know how you do a "frame off" restoration on a unibody car.
  3. Not mine, but belongs to a recently deceased friend's estate. This had been a project for over 20 years by a real mechanic/restorer. The chassis has been completely restored. The engine and transmission rebuilt with some break in hours. All parts are there minus the rear bumper, it may show up. The interior has all the seat frames and new upholstery that needs to be stitched and fitted. It has been inside a heated shop for at least 20 yrs. Runs smooth. Needs to be completed. Bargain priced at $12,500 Canadian dollars. That's $9250 US dollar. Can be seen on hoist by serious buyer. Contact me here via message and I'll put you in touch with the owners people.
  4. Lot's of interesting comments on here. As I don't normally dabble in Pre-War cars I generally stay out of these conversations. But a friend recently passed away with some vehicles left to be finished and I'm trying to help get a reasonable price for his widow on his long term restoration 1935 REO Royale. The chassis is all restored properly. Engine and transmission rebuilt and running. Body is all there including all trim minus rear bumper. Interior has to be finished. Seat frames are good and all new correct upholstery is included but not put together. She has decided to just sell it instead of trying to find someone to finish it. I think its at least yard drivable. So, my question is where to list it, and price? I'll probably start a thread on here. Thanks in advance for any input!
  5. I'd much rather have the Studebaker coupe than a Model A. I'd sell the Fiat 850 and put the money into the 53 Champ if it were my decision.
  6. Was thinking of taking this around the block or further, but lack of brake pedal pressure nixed that.
  7. Yes it likely did have the staggered shocks. But they needed a lot more than that to keep from wanting to go sideways at anything above 2,000 RPM! My friend had a 69 Mach 1 428 4 speed, another friend had the 428 automatic Cougar, and a guy I knew in high school had a Shelby Mustang KR 500 428. I had a 70 Torino Cobra 429 SCJ automatic Ram Air Drag Pack and later a 69 Cyclone 428 CJ automatic. With stock wheels and tires all of them would melt the rubber and go sideways at each shift almost halfway down the 1/4 mile drag strip. How anybody survived driving them is a miracle!
  8. Yes the 260 engine option got the fender badges similar to the 289 ones.
  9. This is one of my favourite Muscle/Pony cars. A 428 CJ 4 speed Mustang or Cougar were scary to try and hang onto. Once they finally hooked up the torque pinned you solidly into the Comfort Weave buckets and when you shifted it was a real scary time trying to keep them from going completely sideways. The automatics were faster because Ford tuned the trannies well and you could keep both hands on the wheel to counter steer while the tires were set on fire. Best bang for the buck in the early 70's by far.
  10. If you pulled the bumpers in tight to the body and got rid of the rear mudflaps it would look much better. But I still like it the way it sits.
  11. Yes it is on Marketplace. He bought this from a local collector for around $20,000. Very nice car though.
  12. Hmmm. A red 190 SL that's not rusted out. Should bring lot's of scammers and fly by nighters. Seems kinda fishy to me. But what say ye of real price for this?
  13. I've been looking for a X100 for awhile up here in Canada. If our Canadian dollar ever recovers against the US Dollar I'll travel across the bridge to get a southern one. Best of luck on your restoration journey! I'll be watching.
  14. I like the car but the owner is delusional. Seeing far too many of these guys advertising with too many zero's in their price.
  15. I'm cruising on the north side of Lake Erie. Port Stanley Ontario. Pictures soon I hope.
  16. Ah yes. The TR7 & TR8 finished off Triumph for good..,at least here in Canada. Today Steve I was able to finally yard drive my TR6. A big step forward as it hadn't moved under it's own power in many decades.
  17. Floors. A major problem if they are rusted. Monocoque type chassis and very difficult to restore properly and $$$. As others wiser than I have said, clean, clean, and re clean for a few days. I'd add spin the spark plugs out, soak with brake fluid in the cylinders for a few days and then turn over with a bar on the crank. If it's freed up it worth more. These old 390 FE big blocks are not too hard to work on.
  18. I drove a 1970 Fury back in 1976 From Ontario to Florida that was a $150 car. Plan was to buy a 57 Corvette to drive back and just sell the Fury to a junkyard. The Corvette was a piece of scrap, owner was a real scammer ( Hemmings Ad). So couldn't find anything else so figured better try to get the Fury to make it back home. Opened the hood to check oil, etc and found a broken plug wire. Got that fixed, put in almost 4 quarts of oil, some anti-freeze, topped up the transmission fluid and power steering and headed home after partying a bit. I was 21 at the time. The old rusty Fury ran great and got better mileage than ever out of that 318. After a full 21 hour journey I parked it in a snow drift until almost spring. It fired right up again and I kept it for another season. Looked a lot like the subject car except for the rust and dents!
