  1. 1917 Dodge Brothers Screen Side and 1919 Dodge Brothers Touring sold together for $12,000.00. People have contacted me about selling separate, the prices will be 1917 Dodge Brothers Screen Side $8,000.00, 1919 Dodge Brothers Touring $6,000.00. A lot of work has been done to both vehicles to list if intereste, please call between 9am and 7pm Eastern time 803-203-1529 Jim. Will not tex or message information.
  2. Your right I should said complete chassis. Both titles are clear Oregon Titles. I have a box about 1 ft tall with 40 years of Dodge Brothers information even a picture of the 1919 DB Touring 1 hour after they brough it home. Some of the history you'll find in Dodge Brothers Club News, March-April 2021 page-10, Dodge Brothers Work a Family Farm. This was a dream put in my head by a man named Gill Belcher. I moved both vehicles in 1996 to Charlotte N.C. to complete that dream in 2016 I started having back problem, since 2016 I've had 2 major back operations. This will be a onetime sale I would like a museum to buy them. I will always think the 1917 DB Screen Side could be a protype of the first business car DB built no records to prove it. To many small items on this vehicle for a person just to make a business car, the first 3 years are the unknown years. I forgot I now live in Rock Hill, S.C. about 35 minutes south of Charlotte N.C. I was born in Portland sad city to see this last summer.
  3. I agree with you, I live in South Carolina, this is Ford Country. I've had two back operations and now having problems in just the simple things. My dream was to complete the Dodges, but as you know time has a way of changing things. The price that seems fair is $12,000 for both and all extra parts, a barn find for a 1919 complete DB Touring (this one I'm second owner) is around $5,000 and this one has the engine, transmission and rear end gone through. The 1917 DB Screen Side is a different story, I know the history to 1920 and very little has been done to it. The question is why does a original 1917 DB frame have a screen side body on it with touring dash, frame is June 1917 and with no records, I don't think this will ever be answered, with its problems they were corrected by time production first came out in October 1917, and some of the change (the seat distance to steering column) noted in adds. I have spent time and money to restore the frame back to original (matching number original) so this vehicle will be talked about on both sides, original or not. This vehicle price $7,000, I feel the frame is between $2000 and $4000 not only is the block redone but starter/generator, water pump, Delco distributor (extra parts also) new bearings in transmission and rear end. I'm down to one shed to clean out, it's interesting what a person can collect as the years go by even the passenger floor ID tag for the 1917 used as a bookmark.
  4. I'm in the process of completing a 1917 Dodge Brothers frame all matching numbers with original starter/generator, water pump and Delco distributor (with extra parts) all rebuilt by Romar DB Parts and Service, frame, axles and springs all newly painted. I'm in the process of getting it ready to sell a screen side body fits on top. I've had people price me all over and was interested in other prices to come up with a fair price to sell. I'm selling this vehicle and 1919 Dodge Brothers Touring selling both together not breaking up. I should have all parts together and pictures end of February. If a person would like more information, please call Jim 803-203-1529
  5. I painted my Dodge Brothers suspension parts last April with STEM self etching black primer then because of back problems they were put in a shed as soon as the weather warms up I'm wanting to put a final coat on them. My question is what do I use to clean the parts. I've been told I have to sandblast again (this I don't want to do) and been told to clean with Windex all the parts have been sandblasted and primed with a good primer just clean the dust off and paint its just suspension parts. So just wondering if anyone had this problem and what they did.
  6. 1917 DB Business Car, Finally ready to paint frame have been told gloss black also been told satin black. Does anyone know how Dodge painted the frames and what color was used. Thanks Jim
  7. When did Dodge Brothers start installing grease fittings on the front axle spindles. I have a 1917 frame with a grease zerk about center of the front right axle spindle, on the left side spindle there is no grease hole for a grease fitting. Could this be correct for 1917 a design change?
  8. Thank you I will contact Doug. Information on the early business cars just isn't around anymore. Again thank you Jim
  9. Hello again, my business car has a true touring frame just one flat bar on the bottom of the driver side of the frame, no reinforcing that people tell me the business cars frames are to have. No rear fuel tank lower straps fuel tank under seat. My production date is around June 2, 1917 frame number 159389 the title is dated 1917. The 1918 series started July 1, 1917 so I've been told the title should read 1918. Their is no literature that I can find on the early business cars but date of production. I've been told that dealers made business cars out of touring cars, but Gil Belcher said that dealers just bought cabs and sometimes beds customers finished the rest with wood and mine has the c cab sides and original wood top with side screens and curtains that it was a assembly line production. Gil also said that there is a possibly that this was a promotional vehicle to go to events to help sell the new business cars (todays world we truck them) this could explain the 1917 title, but Dodge was behind on production so this is a far fetched idea. Military truck maybe but original paint is black not green. I was thinking with the information you have received someone has a early business car I could communicate with. Now do you know of literature I could buy not just frame number production I already have that. I know the history to 1922 just wish I knew the first 5 years. Thank you for your time Thanks again Jim
  10. Was wondering if you were going to sell the information you collected on the early Dodge Brothers business cars. Would be very interested, like to know what the earliest frame number you have on the DB business cars are. Have been told mine is not a real business car frame number is to old. Thanks Jim jgdb1919@hotmail.com
  11. looking for 1918 DB left steering knuckle or called spindle (early DB it fits many years). part number E13091 or E13092 I do have some extra parts so can trade or will pay. Thanks Jim
  12. When did Dodge Brothers stop making the one piece cast bell housing with transmission and went to the steel bell housing and separate cast transmission case. My number is 210285 possible early June 1917
  13. I have a early businesscar #159389 production around late May early June 1917. Does your book have any other information?
  14. what paint mfg was Dodgebrothers using in 1917. Someone told me it was PPG but not sure of that?
  15. What paint mfg did Dodgebrothers use in 1917, my production date is first of June 1917, I have a Businesscar
  16. Forgot to add the narrow bearings may have caused your problem on the rubbing in the rear end. I wanted to talk to you about this when I gave you my number.
  17. It's easy? get hold of a old Timken catalog (Timken stopped production of the bearings in the mid 50's) so even given the bearing number might not show up for size. The last catalog that I know of with the information was early 70's. The bearing material is harder than the axle so a old bearing would be the best to measure unless it has spun. I worked for Bearings Inc ( now Applied Industrial Tech)in Medford Oregon for 10 years and spent two years on this subject, RIV Bearings was the only one to have the size I had to buy $3500.00 (a loan my late wife didn't like) min order RIV wasn't sold in the US at that time (took 3 months to get the order) sold all but what I needed. At that time Timken cup and cone was $100.00 each Yea $200.00 per wheel, cost on RIV was $15.00 for cup and cone each $30.00 per wheel. So get hold of someone who sells RIV bearings give them your size and see if RIV still sells that size, so you see its easy! I moved from Oregon to the Carolinas in 1996 because of the timber industry problem in Oregon and put my Dodges in storage I planning on finishing my hot rod next year and putting the Dodges together.
  18. I was told SKF company bought out RIV company so the bearings are RIV call me more to talk about than write about Jim Guenther 803-230-7918
  19. Sorry I'm not sure what I've done with my old paper work. My bearings were Timken so find out the size by the number then go to "RIV" bearings (I think SKF owns them now) they still made the same size, but again this was 30 years ago. My DB's are in storage so I don't have numbers to give you, yes it's time to put them together.
  20. Looking for information on who made the first cabs for the Dodgebrothers Businesscar (screensides) I have a businesscar built July 1917, Frame#168389, engine#210285, cab (number on firewall) #38843 sold as 1918 series. When did Dodge first go into production, I understand the Army bought around 1,100 of the first production. Thanks
  21. Looking for information on who made the first cabs for the Dodgebrothers businesscars. Mine was built in July 1917 frame #168389, engine #210285 cab (firewall number) #38843 sold as 1918 series. Was all of the first production sold to the Army or was some sold to the public. Thanks Jim
  22. The truck didn't have the screens on it, a year later I'm starting to find out more about the truck and asked the owner it the truck ever had side screens. He told me yes and didn't like them because he had to load only from the back (he sold milk out of the truck) This was a dairy farm and they never got rid of anything. In the horse shoe shed on the walls were 4 screens they used to hang the horse shoes.
  23. I've been told this truck is original and also been told I just have a bunch of parts. The truck was complete when I got it and the owner said he bought it in 1924 and used it till 1933 when he bought a new truck. The frame and floor id tag is 168389 production date around July 10 1917. The cab numbers on the firewall are 38843 so this cab does not fit with the frame. Engine, trans and rear end numbers are close to frame number. Can anyone tell me where the cab came from or who built it. Thanks JAG
