  1. So I was installing new LED bulbs in my dash (look good) and in the process I broke the gas gauge loose.  Dammit.

So far as I can tell, I need to re-soder the red wires to the top spots. But overall it seemed to be floating in the gauge pod, yes? Or is there something on the bottom that broke?!? I can’t see anything except there was a really small brass circle that was loose in the pod.

I have no idea how these work.

  2. Prices are all over the board. I think even your location plays a part. I see prices in the Midwest much more reasonable than what you would see a private seller in California or Washington (where I am) willing to take.

  3. I have issues with the ignition sticking 'ON' when you crank the engine. Mechanic diagnosed it down to voltage regulator. One of his failed, and he replaced it. I have since bought the fancier Delco one, but it buzzes in a z-z-z-z pattern and is clearly broken. Sometimes the wiring to the starter even smokes a little!

So I put one of the older voltage regulators back on, but basically I think I should get a fresh one again. I have a feeling I am shorting it out or something (mainly because of long cold start cranks).

  4. I've gone through three now. I've tried the expensive ones, and the cheap ones. I mean, I think the ground gets screwed up sometimes too, but anyone have experience with these? Not all that interested in paying $50 for the Delco one again unless you all think it's miles better.

While watching the Oscar's this year, I spotted a 63/64 Riviera shown in one of the scenes for "Once Upon A Time in Hollywood".

According to the Internet Movie Car Database, there are at least 3 and probably 4 scenes with 63/64 Riviera's in the movie.

I have not seen the movie yet.

when I saw the movie my friends were probably wondering why I kept exclaiming “oooh” every time I spotted a Rivi. You see some a few times.

Had the same issue.  I corrected it by enlarging the holes on the top radiator bracket that mounts to the core support.  This allowed me to push the radiator back just enough that it did not rub any more.

Do you have A/C? I can’t imagine pushing the whole thing forward with the condenser too. Interesting.

  7. I bought the repro fan shroud too. I had installed a new fan clutch though and it sticks out farther than the original one. Didn’t realize that at first.

I tried everything to get the shroud to fit (including cutting the bottom middle out entirely). Ended up throwing it away.

  8. Yeah it’s the auction commission where they make $$. I was asked about listing my Riviera through their auction service and the listing fee was the same as Bring a Trailer (about $100). But the auction turns into a classified ad if the car doesn’t sell.

Problem is they don’t have the audience of Bring a Trailer. They need it to grow a lot.

Their classified business was probably getting eaten by BaT. Had to try something.

  9. So I bought a bunch of the dash light LED bulbs. Anyone have advice for accessing the original bulbs? I thought maybe the instrument lenses would screw off ala the clock, but it doesn't appear so. I read (above poster) I could reach in from the access panels below (but that seems weird.) Do I have to remove the dash pad?

    Advice appreciated!
