now that you see marks on flywheel
if you highlight marks with white paint , it makes it easier for the next time
I also use it with a timing light

Matt, had same problem with Bill 16, if valve clearance is good, then pull valve and look at contact surface ,. Bill car had rust pull in the intake and scared it, replace with new valve from Myers, had to just lap valve seat with valve,

I have a 3/8 shaft fits on drill with standard drive on end , primes to 20 psi, prior to installing Distributor, I have a standard gage I test with a dead weight tester, picky-back in system during initial run, or when adjusting pressure relief!
If external fitter is installed make sure to fill before installing cap.

A 6 volt starter, positive or negative will work, the way the starter is wound it will still turn same direction, voltage amp direct portion, 12 volt lower amp, 6 volt higher amp , need larger cable,
main thing I fine 12 volts spins faster and bendix engages faster, may shear ,
i have been running 6 volt positive ground stater on 12 volt negative for years on cars and tractors, only problem was bendix.

Matt, look around town for local shops or major car dealer see if you can find a experience Mechanic to work with you on reseating valves, you will need a valve spring compressor tool and valve grounding compound, or a new valve from Tom, easier, then you only have to lap valve if seat is still good, if valve seat is bad , you will have to get a machine shop with portable equipment to work case. You may have bad guides, get help, may save you money in long run and you will get valuable experience,

Front is the Plymonth 16 inch wheel, 10 scallops, these were used on 13 2nd series truck, like mine, I have the 17 on truck , with a 16 spare, to fit wheel wheel with larger tire.

check valve like Doug suggested
When cylinder on top
should have a little play in stems
have a look and make site they are opening and closing
if not maybe stick exhaust or bad valve
