  1. I have seen this episode but I don’t like the show quite as much without Edd.
  2. They come up once in a while but keep in mind that there are two versions of the horn bar in 65 for the standard wheel. They are all the same dimension but one has two added chrome spears imbedded in the plastic on both outer edges of the horn bar. Not sure when in production the spears were removed but some people think they were early production. Can someone confirm?
  3. I noticed that too Jason. I think a good bumper shop could straighten it out but not sure of the cost. This generation Riviera and Toronado were prone to this malady if they were towed by a sling wrecker back in the day. There weren't many, if any roll backs in use then. The Toro's suffered worse because of the added weight with the front wheel drive arrangement. Any time I look at a 66-67 Toro, it is the first thing I look at. This is a beautiful Riviera though. The color combo looks good on this car.
  4. I think the power seat makes a lot of difference as far as the comfort goes. I agree that the passenger seat is not as comfortable. I once saw a 64 with a passenger seat that had been converted to power at a car show. It had the deluxe interior and the conversion included the switch in the door panel just like the drivers side. It was so well done it looked like it came from the factory.
  5. If the Buick tri-shield is still white, it may be an original. The tri-shields on some of the repros have a tendency to prematurely yellow with age. This goes for trunk mats as well.
  6. Not sure about the service engine soon light as it could be several things but the traction control light came on in my former 97 and it was a bad wheel speed sensor. Have a mechanic scan for service codes for both warnings to narrow down your issues.
  7. I have used Waldron twice with my former 65. I went through 2 in 7 years. They may have one in stainless but I haven’t checked their web site in a long time. Their muffler looks good but as I and others have said in the past, these rust quickly on a car that sees limited use. When I used my former 64 as a daily driver, the muffler lasted much longer. I went through 4 Midas mufflers and 2 sets of resonators in 24 years. I never had to replace the pipes from the manifolds to the resonators and the tail pipes were replaced twice.
  8. That bike was at the Hemmings Concours last year and it was probably the best application of Riviera parts that I have ever seen other than on an actual Riviera. It was so well done it looked like it came from the factory that way. Ray put a picture of it in a Riview not long ago.
  9. Anything to get it off the assembly line on a Friday afternoon!
  10. Mike, those seats are indeed from a Pontiac, specifically a Bonneville. I have had several Bonnies over the years as a daily driver and those seats were very comfy.
  11. That is a nice looking car. White was the most popular color in 1965. Probably not many left with original paint. It will be interesting to see what it bids up to.
  12. Anything is possible with enough time and money but nothing is compatible between those years. Buy one of each to satisfy your urge!!
  13. You already noted the floor pan rust and I'll bet the trunk floor is bad as well. The rear window leaks water into the trunk and based on the car sitting there for 10 years, it probably took its toll. The brakes would need a complete rebuild and I would venture to guess the exhaust system is probably in need of repair and/or replacement. The X frames on these cars are very stout so that might be OK. The tilt steering wheel appears to be decent which is a plus and it also has cruise and power vent windows which are nice options to have but at the end of the day, unless you can get this car dirt cheap, I would rather spend the money on one that you can get in and drive.
  14. I have a pair available that I removed from a 65 Riviera from Texas back in 1978. They are in very good shape with no damage. Send me a PM if you have an interest. Thanks. Pat Curran
  15. Were the front carpets wet as well as the rear? The trunk is most likely the rear window and is a common issue. Water can also get in under the decorative trim molding below the rear window. I have also seen water get in around the tail lights. Check all your weatherstrips and gaskets. If the front carpets are wet as well, this tells me you have more than one area that is leaking. Assuming that your floorboards are solid with no rust through, water can get in through dried out seam sealer and failing weatherstripping. As Scott states above, do a water test with a garden hose. Start at one end of the car and slowly work your way to the other end. Let us know what you find.
  16. Buick offered a "shorty" console and a full operating console for a number of years. This car has the "shorty" console. The wire wheel cover on this car was an option and is the correct style for the year.
  17. Speakers can be re-built. You can look in Hemmings under “services offered” or do a Google search. Aftermarket replacements are available in the same dimensions as well and some sound better than the ones that came from the factory. The Concert Sound II was used in other Buick’s so there may be some used ones out there.
  18. I don't believe they are the same for the horseshoes but not 100% sure. Maybe someone else can chime in. When I had my 64, I purchased a NOS Riviera script for the trunk. In the box was a separate small cellophane pouch that contained the clips. My old ones were good so I never installed them but I sold the clips some time ago. I don't know if they are being reproduced or not. Check with CARS.
  19. It actually looks pretty decent Paul. It appears straight and the interior looks to be in nice shape. No cracks in the dash and the door panels look really good. If it runs as good as it looks, the price seems fair. The paint is a little tired in areas but not a big deal if you want a driver. The door weatherstripping is starting to fail but that can be dealt with. There is a debate right now about the authenticity of a hood ornament on a 73 but no harm, no foul. The engine compartment looks tidy as does the trunk. It may even have the original spare? The center caps on the wheels should be Riviera specific, but again, not a big deal. There is only surface rust on the undercarriage and the floors look solid. Certainly not a rust bucket which is a plus. The rear shocks are a "coil over" design and were maybe installed to augment the rear coil springs if it was sagging. Overall, it looks way better than some others on the market right now. If it drives out nice, go for it!
  20. It may not be as collectible as earlier generations but most people who have ever driven or ridden in one of these will tell you that it is the most comfortable of all the generations of Riviera. This one certainly is loaded and in very nice condition. You don’t see many in this color combo.
  21. I really like the color and it looks to be a fine example. I would like to know why it has 68 tail light bezels and why the Riviera medallions are missing from the sail panels. Probably someone's preference but just curious. Easy to correct if you wanted an authentic example.
  22. Restoration Specialty and Supply Co. used to have a clip that was close but not exact. Check out their website. Not sure about the weatherstrip though. There are several weatherstrip manufacturers/retailers out there that may be able to help.
  23. They got the Chevy one mixed up. The hood ornament is off a Malibu Classic.
  24. To my knowledge, the 73’s did not come from the factory with a hood ornament. The 73 emblem had a less formal slant to it which is the one that is mounted correctly on the header panel. The sales brochure for 73 doesn’t show one but if you all remember, hood ornaments we’re becoming all the rage during this time and well into the 80’s. Some Cadillac dealers are adding them to cars today. No harm, no foul. I always liked looking out the windshield to see a hood ornament riding high and proud!
  25. I believe the 69's should be the same as well.
