  1. Not sure of the production numbers but the Buick Somerset (not to be confused with the Regal Somerset)is a forgotten model. They changed the name to Skylark but that didn’t seem to help.
  2. The side spear was optional and should be body color except the outer edge which is chrome. There is chrome under the paint and some owners have opted to remove the paint and expose all the chrome.
  3. Ray posted a note earlier today on the ROA Facebook page that it has been delayed due to a chemical spill at a USPS distribution center. They hope to get it out ASAP.
  4. I had the very same color combination as well. It was one of 454 Super Wildcat non-GS cars.
  5. And if you recall, they used a 2X4 as a prop rod for the hood on the pace car. 🙃
  6. It wasn’t running at the Lake Geneva meet in 2001 either. A few of us had to push it on the show field. I actually considered it to be a privilege to have pushed it!😁
  7. The Turbinator only takes Plaid Stamps Steve!😁
  8. It is not being reproduced so used will be your only option. I haven’t seen any NOS come up for sale. It is very similar to common window/door screen. You might be able to get some at a hardware store and cut it to fit if you can’t find used pieces.
  9. If you are able to find the center piece, you will need the 2 clips that secure it in place. The factory used chrome plated screws as well. This diagram is from the 1969 shop manual.
  10. Bob, when you say rally wheel, do you mean the chrome road wheel? If so, the center cap medallions for 1966-1970 are all the same. These would be too large for that application. They did not have adhesive backing.
  11. After 5 months of retirement I couldn’t stand it any longer and went to work part time 8 months ago as a driver for my local Chevy dealer. For those of you who have had the pleasure (myself included) of replacing/repairing a heater core in a first generation Riviera, I thought you would like to see what is required to do the same job in a current generation Camaro. I hope you all feel better now!😁
  12. GM ran a special ad campaign announcing the new Mark of Excellence initiative and they would proudly put the Mark of Excellence sticker inside the doors of every GM vehicle. My family bought a new 67 Caprice coupe and a new 67 Impala SS convertible and both vehicles had them. A friend has an all original 67 Corvette that has them. Another friend has a 67 GTO with them. Of course assembly line work being what it is and the occasional supply issues, I’m sure some vehicles came through without them. As an added note, I just looked it up. Wikipedia claims the decals first appeared in late 1966 although I have never seen a 1966 with them. 1967’s would be in production by that time.
  13. GM also put the “Mark of Excellence” metal decal on the passenger door in the same location as the drivers door. It would be a one year only initiative.
  14. I have never tried it but the 68 and 69 may work. The molding at the forward edge would need to be swapped out and the spears were different between 68 and 69. The Riviera lettering was also different.
  15. The first ones were standard for the 1969 and 1970.
  16. All rear seats had the speaker grill in the center, standard or custom.
  17. I had the same issue when I had my 65. I purchased a piece of one inch foam rubber and cut it to match my air cleaner. Once the hood was closed, it was held in place.
  18. Looks great. The tan cardboard is a nice match.
  19. I have a pair off of a 1965 that was originally a Texas car. No paint whatsoever and they are rust free. I still have them in my parts stash.
  20. You could also get the custom interior with manual windows but it kind of defeats the purpose.
  21. I removed the resonators from the stock system when I had my 1969. It provided the mellow sound I was looking for without being obnoxious. Of course the BCA judges penalized me a couple of points but it was a fair trade IMO.
  22. They were built with detents. Is the spring missing or broken? They won’t work without the spring. When I bought my first 64, the spring was missing and I had to replace it.
  23. You are right Bob. They seem to “upgrade” some of their cars. Caveat Emptor!
