  1. Hummm... I love these. Only downside is expensive to have worked on. I have a friend with 2, and last summer I drove his black 98 (I think) around a few times in the summer. I loved it! It may be small but it had power and the fun factor was there. Plus the fit and finish was impressive. You’d likely talk me into this if I saw it in person and you’re as good of a sales person as I assume you are. (By that I don’t mean manipulative, but helpful and have integrity). I will seriously think about this. Funny thing is I was originally going to buy the retractable hard top 2 door version of my Pontiac. I got the 4 door because my daughter was still having me cart her and friends around and felt I had to be responsible and go with the 4 door. I forgot my dad had the 57. I’m just drawn to these cars.
  2. I already have the second car. The 57 ?. My last new car was (is... I gave it to my daughter), a 06 Pontiac G6 GT. It’s loaded. Faster V6 engine, leather, heated seats, Panaramic roof, etc. It’s sporty, comfortable and has all the goodies. It’s just got close to 200k miles now and not something for out of town or heavy use like my sales job. I always felt safe due to the size (full size 4 door) and it felt substantial plus looks sporty. The new cars I can afford now feel tiny, have punky 4 cylinder engines, and after all the trips to Tx, I’d be scared on the highway in something that small and slow. I just have to adjust to being poor for now. ?
  3. @Matt Harwood if you had said SLK in my price range... ? I love the late 1990’s and 2000’s. I should say that I average about 20k plus miles a year just for my sales job and regular personal use. That wouldn’t count trips to Texas. I’m probably going to stick with the Tundra. I wasn’t sure I could refi the lease on it, having been out of work so long, and I was going to buy a car for cash. Of course I can finance a new car ?‍♀️, they will do anything to sell them, but not interested in the ones in my price range. I had some financial struggles during the past several years due to the cost of being out of work, travel, very high medical and legal costs for dad, etc. I focused on keeping a roof over my dad and my affairs were secondary concerns. Now that I’m back to work I’m trying to get my life back on track. I agree that the 55 Nomad is the best of that model. I should have kept dad’s Danbury Mint version.
  4. Wow! How reliable was it? I’ve been considering buying a used car for 10k cash, but need something reliable for work and that I can drive to Portland to see dad 4 hours North. I’m thinking I need to spend a minimum of 20k, even then, I’m not sure I’d get anything appropriate I don’t want to waste money on a new car in the 25-30k range and don’t want to take a hit on depreciation. I also don’t want a $500 payment. I don’t think I can’t get anything I’d feel safe in for 10-20k.
  5. I like the turquoise best, but this was beautiful!
  6. @keiser31 is probably right. He diagnosed an issue with my ‘57 just from a description of a sound I told him it made. Took it to the shop and sure enough... he was on the money.
  7. ??? That could be the same car! I hadn’t seen this one yet. Thanks for posting. I might need to go back to red hair.
  8. @Caballero2, I love the Tbird. Sometimes I wished my dad had one of those, but I’d never tell him!
  9. Oooh, can’t wait to see it. Mine will be delayed due to moving. I will tell you all that everyone I’ve given a ride in it likes the ride. Maybe @keiser31 can tell us his honest opinion of the drive and ride? I’ve seen some red and white ones and I think that’s my favorite color combo. The coral is fun though and I especially get a kick out of reactions of little girls at the car shows when they see the car. Plus, my dad wasn’t a dummy, he knew the big girls would love it also!
  10. He knows the OP does that all the time. It’s fine. ?
  11. Very nice, thanks for the pics! Of all the Chevy’s, 55 is my favorite. Four years ago when I first went to help my father in Texas, I started by cleaning and boxing up his many Franklin Mint and Danbury Mint model cars. He must have had close to 75. I saw the tourquois 55 Nomad and was intrigued. I had never remembered seeing one, so I did some research. It is the only one I regret getting rid of. I love seeing them at car shows now.
  12. @mcdarrunt, I sold the 55 Chevy, I liked it better than a 57 Chevy, but I like the 57 Ford the most. Just my tastes. To each his own. However, if that’s a turquoise 55 Nomad, ???! Are these your cars?
  13. I saw one of these I think at http://www.dicksclassicgarage.com/
  14. You probably want to post your stuff under parts for sale or open an eBay store. This section isn’t really meant for that.
  15. I’m going with the Corvair. I really like the EM’s, (and the LM’s also).
  16. My guess is this guy wants the real thing. His cars are some of the most beautiful, original (unrestored), I’ve ever seen.
  17. I don’t know. I just saw it drive by me. They both are original and very low miles.
  18. It drove by my work today in a Medford. I think it’s following me! ??
  19. True that it’s like comparing apples or oranges, but he happened to park net to me and it got me to thinking... One thing I like like about this forum is that we can have this conversation and everyone is civil and respects each persons contributions. As for why why there are so many more Chevys today, I think that is answered by the numerous remarks about what made the Chevy more popular as a used car. Cheaper to keep on the road, due to part availability, easier to work on etc. Also, I have read that there may be more tri fives on the road today then ever produced. Due to the fact that they remaufacture all the parts for the Chevy. They don’t for the Ford. Parts are less readily available also possibly due in part to fewer years with the same style?
  20. Lots of good points, but I actually love the look of the eyebrows on the headlights.
