  1. More made 'on the cheap' rather than innovative. Only the rear fenders have compound curves. Craig
  2. Thanks, Gary, Yes, we are saddened by the loss of Jerry. I express my condolences to his wife and family as well. Another one of his well-known restorations:
  3. After seeing the AACA's fine facilities in person, including admiring all the excellent work done there, and then reading the title of this thread, I feel as if it my own garage that was violated. Craig
  4. In Alberta, we had Pedal Pushers for bicycle safety courses back in the 1960's. Appears its still around: Pedal Pushers Bike Safety Program - ReachFM: Peace Country's hub for local and Christian news, and adult contemporary Christian programming. Craig
  5. Bicycle riders are also expected to use hand signals, at least they are here; be it on a public road, or a dedicated bike path. I know in my case, because of that, I knew what hand signals meant, years before I was car driving age. With more bikes on the road, and people of car driving age being encouraged to use them, I don't expect hand signals to ever go away. Craig
  6. I wish there was a rattlesnake in it!! Craig
  7. And then land a good job so she can pay for the damage!! Craig
  8. As long as its NOT Carbon Monoxide, with is both colorless and odorless. Craig
  9. Thank you for the update, and I am thankful she was caught. I only hope she gets charged to the fullest extent of the law, including jail time. Craig
  10. An EX-employee is no longer considered "staff". And obviously, those three you cite left on good terms. Not every company or organization is fortunate enough to have excellent, reliable employees working, or who once worked for them. For example, at a competitor of a company where I worked at a number of years ago, a respected salesman who was with that outfit for many years got caught stealing goods and 'back-dooring' them to customers for cash. He ended up being charged with theft (on the merchandise he stole that could be proven) to the fullest extent of the law. In the early 2000's, the former Treasurer of the Studebaker Drivers Club absconded with a huge amount of club money before it was noticed. Bad actors exist everywhere. Whether one agrees or not, EVERYONE is a suspect, even an EX-employee, especially if they had a disagreement with someone. Craig
  11. Then that eliminates one trail of potential suspects. Craig
  12. Check the list of your former employees; especially those who had a grievance. Craig
  13. I wonder if a well-stocked newsagent near you sells them. There is one here locally that sells both AuroRetro and Retro Viseur. Craig
  14. The same thing happened to the head AACA Librarian a couple of years back. So sad, and my condolences to those involved. Craig
  15. It should encompass more than just the birth of LaSalle. 1927 was also the launch of Harley Earl's "Art & Colour" design studio, of which the LaSalle was the first GM car to be sold on design effort. Craig
  16. I do know Citroens were imported to Canada before the DS series, which was popular as for as imports. The Traction models would have been as costly as an Oldsmobile or a Buick at the time. French imports to Canada go back to the 1900's with the Darraq, Rochet-Schnider, Lorraine-Dietrich, as well as other French cars. The Calgary Daily Herald - Google News Archive Search Craig
  17. Thanks for your account of the premises just before it was vacated in 1988. I didn't realize it was that run down just prior to it being left abandoned. I remember a late-1987 Time magazine article showed a photo of it just before it closed, calling it a 'crack house in the making'. I'm just so thankful it got restored. This will be the second major effort Ford Motor Company had taken to revitalize Detroit; the first backing the construction of the Renaissance Center in the 1970's. Craig
  18. 58's especially suffer from the disintegration of the foam under the soft vinyl covering. The top edge protruded much further forward than the instrument cluster, and obscure the speedometer when it drooped. Craig
  19. It IS a Rolls-Royce! A hi-jacked Silver Shadow!! (And 'hoopty' Hooper would never rebody a Rolls like that!!😆) Craig
  20. On warmer days, I like to have the driver's window open an inch or two, and the right rear window also lowered an inch or two which provides excellent cross-ventilation that's draft-free. Craig
  21. Thanks again. The lever was not visible in your earlier photos. Interesting about R12 being banned in France before it was in the rest of the world. Craig
  22. Thanks for posting these interesting photos. It appears to have been a very well equipped Electra that was sold new there. The kph speedometer is not common here (not in 1969.) I might be missing something, but does it not have the day/night rearview mirror? Were they illegal in France? Craig
  23. If you can believe, a Type 2 van/Transporter of the same year with an adult passenger in every seat would probably come close to that Beetle/trailer combination!! Craig
  24. A '52 put out an amazing 30 horsepower, while a '71 Super Beetle progressed to 60 hp. I recall the '71 brochure stated 850 pounds towing capacity for a Super Beetle! Craig.
