  1. I am the same way. I also prefer purchasing undamaged, previously un-thumbed through copies of magazines. The bad about this Covid thing with some magazines not being shipped through their regular distribution channels, is that I have had purchase some online, requiring them being sent through the mail. And indeed, a few of them have arrived like they've been through hell and back to get here. Craig
  2. I'm sure glad your car had a nice, happy ending; unlike this one: 🙁 My old Buick has been found after 4 decades - General Discussion - Antique Automobile Club of America - Discussion Forums (aaca.org) Craig
  3. I received my copy in the mail today, it is a good read! Lots of excellent historical black & white photos and high-resolution color photos of restored cars, especially from Continental Europe. I'd recommend it for those who do like the odd and unusual. Craig
  4. I believe that was very characteristic of Knight engines. They did consume a LOT of oil. Craig
  5. I can see in the northern areas in most of Canada where there are parking lots with block-heater plugins, they'll be converted to EV usage. In the Southern States, they will have to be installed. Craig
  6. I won't argue. But never say never. In the muscle car world, there are several examples of cars that received options that were supposedly reserved for certain models. Craig
  7. Yes they are when box-trained. As long as they are the short-hair type, like a siamese. Persians and other long-haired cats are notorious for shedding. Craig
  8. The outhouse tipped over. Craig
  9. What a shame! Now I don't feel so bad that mice destroyed the interior of my one car while it was stored INSIDE a building. Craig
  10. Even MORE than $75K if it's a Z11 package with aluminum front fenders and bumpers!! Craig

  12. That was just one thing that got me turned off with GM back then. Just when they got the Fiero 'right' for performance & handling in 1988 (after spending a claimed $30 million), they foolishly pulled the plug on it; especially so when the stillborn 1989 Fiero showed even more promise. It didn't help when they overspent time and development money on the GM-21/W-body cars, all during the Roger Smith era. Craig

This new release on Bentley might also be a good read: Bentley - Last of the Silent Sports Cars 1938-9 (hortonsbooks.co.uk) Craig
  14. This '67 GS California shows up regularly at local car shows here during the summer. Craig
  15. That is a shame. From what I can see in the photo, it appears to be a very well equipped car, with more options than the car you have replaced it with. Craig
  16. I just did the exact same thing; making a sit-down workspace in the furnace room immediately after the installer replaced the old one. I now have the patio table inside to fabricate some new stainless steel fuel & brake lines for two Studebakers I'm currently working on. Over the past several months, I've been taking in the old fasteners to get cad plated. A 'before' and 'after' photo.
  17. Wheel chocks were very common into the 1960's when loading and unloading big trucks, as I recall. Craig
  18. Please note I typed "1980", not "1980's" in reference to that specific model year. Craig
  19. What is wrong with that two-door sedan missing its front clip in the driveway? Craig
  20. As I stated in previous posts, there was a way for the automakers to work WITH the 5-mph bumper law instead of against it right from the beginning in 1973. GM proved it was possible starting in 1973 right when it was first enacted with the Grand Am and the Corvette, and the next year with the higher-end F-body Camaro & Firebirds. Unfortunately, they didn't go all the way and do the same with the remainder of the product lines. If one can believe in 1980, the F-bodies were considered 'ancient' by then, being a ten year old product, but they were arguably the best looking of any 1980 car on the North American market with the 5-mph battering rams being stylistically concealed at each end. That is one reason they still sold so well despite being a ten year old design, although performance suffered substantially. Craig
  21. I remember the whistling "Dollar-49 Day; Tuesday!" ads on the radio, a monthly shopping day my mom would never miss. As well, Woodward's 'Famous Food Floor' had the best bakery in town, and others said they had the best produce. Woodward's never really did recover after the early '80 recession, and operated in the red from then on. My mom was just pissed when they foolishly sold their only profit-making division, the 'Famous Food Floor's' to Safeway in 1987 which became 'World of Food' until the leases ran out, and could be closed down. To keep it vintage truck related, there was a fully restored 1953 Dodge two-ton Woodward's furniture van in the former B.C. Transportation Museum in Cloverdale. I wonder what became of it. Craig
  22. There are hardly any 1980 cars that were sold in North America that actually look good; especially with those ugly 5-mph bumpers hanging off each end, which is why the interest in them remains so low 40 years later. To consider. In 1978, people were already collecting 1964-'66 Thunderbirds, what was then only a 12-14 year old car. Fast-forward to 2020, how many do you know of restoring a 1978 Thunderbird? One might stumble on a well-kept original at a car show, but very few are going to spend more than its worth for a good quality paint job on one. Craig
  23. Are you going to work in there over the winter while they're stored, and thereby creating dust? If so, cover them. But if you are storing them only, with no work being performed and there is no air movement or leaks through the doors, uncovered should be fine. Craig
  24. In Vancouver, it was WOODWARD'S that was the BIG one that went under! It meant a LOT to Vancouverites; unlike Eaton's and Sears from down east, Woodward's was a homegrown company, and JUST barely made their 100th Anniversary. Craig
