  3. Anyone know the dimensions of the 11A Sedan (i.e. H,W,L)? Thanks!
  4. Good advice Bob. I appreciate it. Hershey was never on my screen. Before my last two recent purchases (1925 Franklin 11A & 1989 Bentley Turbo R), my oldest car was a 1962 RHD Morris Mini that was modified at John Cooper's shop in the 60s. My interest in "real old" cars was precipitated when my son & I went to the Atlantic Region Rolls Royce Owners Club Concours a few weeks ago. We scored a ride in a Phantom I and then I started learning about some of these quality-assembled gems. That led to the Franklin purchase. The golf date was set this past summer. Otherwise I would cut work and go to Hershey on the Thursday.
  5. Thanks Bob. I was calling it a 2 door Sports Sedan based on the oval 3rd window pictured on the "1925" page from your excellent and extensive website: http://gardnermotorcars.com/1925.html I'm sorry that I'm not going to be able to see your roadster at Hershey. I'm flying up to Brookline, MA to play golf at The Country Club with one of my buddies. It's where a poor caddy named Francis Ouimet beat Harry Vardon for the 1913 U.S. Open championship. Ouimet became a national hero and caused the popularization of golf throughout the United States. I guess that's why they made golf club doors on Roadsters like yours. Any experience with shipping cars from overseas?
  6. Nice policework Bob...so are there any other 1925 2DR Sports Sedans out there? Would there be any interest for this car out on the field? Was the "LYcoming H?? Vertical L-head" engine one that Gardner really used in the 8As? (please see: http://classiccardatabase.com/specs.php?series=1709&year=1925&model=9161) Enjoy Hershey! Jordan
  7. Thanks for the advice ak. Any other advice is appreciated as well... You're correct Steve...I started sailing a Sailfish on Panamoka starting at age seven. Played a lot of Army in Brookhaven Lab's woods, which was across the street from my house...the sixteen year olds gave us rides in their muscle cars...a lot of fun.
  8. From an early Gardner...Lycoming H?? Vertical L-head vs. Lycoming 2H Straight 8 L head vs. Lycoming 4HM L-head. Thanks!
  9. Thanks guys. The Franklin will be initially trailered to Monroe Township, NJ, so my buddy Mark can go over the engine, etc. He does the mechanics, carbon fiber work and cosmetics on my cars and iceboats. He is also my "partner in crime" for various car and sailing events. By the end of October we'll move the 11A up to the Monticello area. I took a look at mapquest and old 17 and 11 run up to Syracuse along the highways. The plan would be to drive to the Trek. I figure it will be 1/2 to 1/3 of the speed that we are used to, but a lot of fun anyway. The Club seems very active throughout the U.S. Steve, I spent my childhood summers in Suffolk County on a lake in Ridge. My family frequently traveled out to the North & South forks to visit friends during the summers. These days, when the cars a put away for the winter and if the ice forms on Eastern LI, I'll iceboat on Ronkonkoma, the Connequot River, Great South Bay or Mecox Bay. It's real nice out in your parts...
  10. Thanks Bill. I joined...Jordan
  11. Thanks. That's some Franklin collection! Is that a Series 8 in your pic? This will be my first old car. My others run from 1962 to 1989.
  12. I have to retrieve the car from West Virginia...then I'll get the VIN and join the club. How do members usually get the cars to the Treks...trailer, main 65mph highways or back roads?
  13. Just picked this up off of ebay. A change of pace for me. Will probably garage it near Monticello so I can take a 2 day stab at the Trek next summer.
