  9. Nice car I hope it finds a good home
  10. Also the special six has a six clip demountable wheel and a smaller diameter hub cap and hub. Special six hub cap i.d. is 2 5/8". the Big Six uses a seven clip Wheel. the big six was also a seven passenger car with fold a way jump seats in the rear, At a glance. Owning a special six I would say it is a special six that is optioned well, and has had a headlight and tail light bezel from a big six added at some point.

  12. the hole is to let blow by from the valve stems to escape
  13. Well I just recently reasoned through this very question. And From all of my research they are only splash lubricated from the bottom. the valves are only lubricated by the fuel that passes through them. I have resorted to a maximum mixture of mmo to the gas to get the valve lubrication. 1/2 pint to 10 gallons. with good results. however my car gets very cranky with out mmo
  14. Hello, I don't know if you have solved your problem, I ran into a similar problem with my car it would charge and the quit. I had a couple of issues. I had mismatched components. the previous owner had put a remy gen with a cut out mounted on the gen, and the car still had the cutout from the wagner gen on the firewall. they were fighting each other and causing the thermal overload breaker in the gen to open, causing a no charge after a short run. it would cool off and work again for a little while. it was quit maddening to figure out, hope this helps, ethan
  15. When I got out my precision ruler and not my tape measure I measured 7 5/8" same as yours thanks. all I know for sure is they did not fit my special six. And that Studebaker did not put the part numbers on them.
  16. You are looking for Studebaker part #46707. I may have what you need pm me with the dimension of your bows folded at the point where the plug is in the body. I have a pair that measure 7 1/4 " tall inside the support
  17. Well here is a progress report, after going through the engine with a fine tooth comb. I found a leak at the original gauge line fitting that appears to be the cause of my oiling concerns.
  18. The LS-2 stromberg on my 1920 Studebaker does this as well. the shop manual for my Studebaker say that some fuel is normal upon stopping the motor. a tablespoon or so. if more than that float may not be seating correctly. my manual say to remove the needle dust cap and rotate the needle against the seat. also if you engine is a priming cup engine as mine is it may not turn over with the starter fast enough to draft fuel up the manifold. I hope this helps
