  1. Hi, I am looking for “letters” to replace damaged ones on a 1960 car. Does anybody here by chance have some for sale? See the design attached. Cheers, Jakub
  2. Hello, I am in Chicago this week and have been wondering if I can get some stuff we are missing on our 1960 LeSabre. Does anyone here knows about a junkyard or other type of vendor around this place? Thanks! Jakub
  3. Hi! I'm wondering if someone has a couple of small things we're missing in our LeSabre by now. Specifically 1) A battery handle with pegs 2) A gray door-locking knob 3) "I" button for the radio 4) One of the external LeSabre writings. The one, which part we are missing is from the left front section, but perhaps they are all the same..? The pictures of all the items (or their surroundings are attached).
  4. Yes, they have it here. However the store we visited was only able to mix us the nearest color from the sample sets they own. So we have a small bottle of Fiat paint, allowing us to correct the white spots at least to a certain shade of red, which is nevertheless way too bright from the first sight....
  5. Hello everyone, let me introduce you to the issue we're trying to solve. A few years ago, we bought on ebay and imported a red Buick LeSabre into the Czech Republic. The car had been partially restored back in the States. This restoration probably included a new paint (as there are remainings of the original paint visible from the inner side of the trunk). The car had been involved in a little accident last year, after which is scratched on a few spots. We'd therefore like to correct the damaged spots by paint with nearly the same shadow as the original one. However, we have no documentation about the performed painting and even the local painter doesn't know any similar (nor the same) shadow. So I accidentally got an idea, that someone here might be more acknowledged in this issue or perhaps even recognize our shadow as one of typical ones, performed at Buicks these days? If that will be the case, I'd be very happy if you let me know. Greetings, Jakub
  6. Hi, so I (as I'm European) wasn't able to stay away from the guy with the computer and recently received a wrong U-joint. So currently am I looking for the right one... Is any of you experienced with this one? http://www.summitracing.com/int/parts/mog-434/overview/
  7. Hi, thank you for directing me towards RockAuto, the website seems helpful at least in the terms of seals and bearings. However the crossing, you mention, seems a bit different, that what we found in the cardan, which is a bit strange, since our car is listed in Dana #5213X specification...
  8. Hello, so it looks like, that the noises were caused by the cardan and its components, which have almost tore apart. I've started a WTB thread and asked for the parts at several places, however without any results. Can maybe some of you advise me a place to get the cardan components? I guess they can be the same with some other GM cars, can't they be?
  9. Hello, following this post, we found out, that the cardan, tied to the differential is in very poor condition and thus could be causing the problem. Anyone able to provide me with one?
  10. Hello, let me ask you for a help with my issue, concerning rear axle differential on 1960 Buick LeSabre. A few years ago, we've been facing strange noises, coming periodically from the back of the car during acceleration. Our service recognized this as a failure of the differential, probably caused by a lack of fluid exchange (what was inside was more a vaseline than oil). We were also advised to endure the noises (which persisted), since repairing of the differential would be quite demanding. So we were using the car (not on a daily basis, it's still a vintage car) with these quiet noises until a few days ago. By this I mean the moment, when the car started to emit significant noises from the engine space when in higher speeds and having gear in. Also, there often are vibrations in the accelerator. None of the engine parts is lacking the fluid at the moment. A visit of the service showed up, that the differential is now emitting stranger noises than ever when the car is lifted up and one tries to move a wheel by hand. So now we have a hypothesis with almost dead differential, sending vibrations to the front parts of the chassis. Have some of you experienced a similar difficulty? Would you confirm or deny the assumption? What would you recommend to do next? Regards, Jakub
  11. Hello everyone, water in the interior of our LeSabre together with not working heating lead us to inspect the valve of the heating unit, which was then found as massively leaking. Is someone here able to offer me one in a better to mint condition? Greetings Jakub
  12. Hi, as some time passed after our Buick production, the rubber seals are getting bad and we decided to replace them with a new ones. I've found some rubber kits at classicbuicks.com, but I'm not sure, which of them do I need. I asked the shop, but things didn't get much easier by this conversation. So do you think I need only 2-DOOR HARDTOP BODY RUBBER KIT or also something from here? Or buy it somewhere else? The biggest issue is probably the rubber, located on the front side of the rear window and substituing B-pillar, which is attached to an iron rail... This is what I need to get. I'll be happy for any reactions...
