  1. I found this Panhard & Levassor double-sided porcelain sign, roughly 42" in diameter. Panhard et Levassor was a well known early higher-end French automobile manufacturer. Pre-war production of the Panhard et Levassor ceased in 1940, and  the name was shortened to Panhard when production resumed after the war. So the sign dates to at least 1940, and, more than likely, the mid-thirties. Amazing that it survived the hostilities of the war. Only at Hershey!

  2. Legislative vigilance is key. One should never assume that any proposed or pending legislation is completely innocuous, nor necessarily completely harmful to our hobby, despite what is claimed. But one thing to keep foremost in our collective minds as hobbyists is that there is now an entirely new social mindset to the environment vs. automobile equation, and that, coupled with a smaller number of younger automobile enthusiasts than in previous generations (potential voters that legislators might factor in as part of their decision making)  could make legislation that could be detrimental to our hobby much easier to find its way into our lives. Nothing political, just facts. Again, legislative vigilance is key.

Sitting at the FBO in Monterey………lots of attractive ladies here……….you know the type. The ones seen getting on & off private jet aircraft. Most seem to have modified and non authentic coachwork. Plastic and silicone seem to be the order of the day. 😎

Lots of custom coachbuilders here in sunny S. Florida.

  4. That guard house was witness to a lot of Studebaker history. The picture at the bottom of this post is that of Studebaker workers passing by the guard house and through the gates at the end of the work day on December 9th, 1963, immediately after the announcement of the closure of the South Bend plant was made.

For those who may not be aware, Building 84, the 1,000,000 sf main assembly plant at the Studebaker factory in South Bend , abandoned for years and pictured below, is being repurposed into a mixed-use technology center. The guard house now sits at the entrance to building 84.
