  1. Thanks Cape Fear Region for hosting today's show! Y'all had a great turnout and some great vehicles. I managed to get just "inside" the show as #160! My father-in-law was thrilled, as was I. I got pics of just about every vehicle there to show to my husband. (I hope this link works) https://plus.google.com/u/0/+AnnieG454/posts/AEi2R7emVqC?pid=6258757376652275426&oid=113779893943540492580
  2. Got my registration in for the Burb and to Judge Looking forward to it
  3. Yeah.... This dead horse has been beaten into the ground.
  4. And there have been no conversations about it. I'm looking forward to some warmer weather for a couple of days, as well as seeing family before the show. Who else is going?
  5. No, not mocking.... Like with anything else, if you want change, you have to be part of it. If you think the fees aren't structured well, then you need to get on a committee to get things changed.
  6. Bob - seems you might could run for office in the AACA and make some changes you seem are needed.
  7. Excellent point Steve about us HPOF, DPC and Preservation participants.... I get a great little chip for bringing my truck out and I don't feel like I am missing out on one of the beautiful AACA trophies at all! In fact, when I got my board for my HPOF chips I was shocked at how nice it was and am thrilled that I have one place to mount my chips to. As for judging... Not only do we pay for our own breakfast but we pay to travel to the show just like all participants do. There's no discounts for anything. However I'm happy to do it to help keep the AACA going strong.
  8. Thanks! I did see that information but wondered if that was the only one around Appreciate your help!
  9. I've been an organizer of different meets in the past - not AACA meets, but other clubs - and the work and expenses involved is usually quite high! As with everything else over the years, the cost for everything has gone up! Where ever you look in recent years, there are things we have to pay for now that we didn't have to pay for then. The first thing that comes to mind is insurance costs - whether the club has to pay for it out of pocket or the venue has to pay for it, it has to be paid either way. If spending $20 to park your trailer for your show vehicle puts you over your budget to show your car, then maybe you need to either redo your own budget or sell your show car. After the cost of buying the tow rig, the trailer, maintenance for both, gas money, insurance, then of course the expense of the show vehicle, $20 is a mere drop in the bucket! I don't have to trailer either of my trucks. I could easily use my HPOF Suburban to tow my highly modified pickup, but that takes the fun out of driving my pickup and I wouldn't want to burden my Suburban with all that work. Then again, both are built to drive and aren't Senior or even Junior level cars in AACA. Just my 2 cents of course.
  10. Congrats to all the winners!! Such beautiful vehicles!!!
  11. Is the AACA Bookmobile still in existence? I'm working with our region to update our Member's Guide and have to admit that I've not heard of it before. Thanks for any help
  12. Wow!!! You have an amazing talent! Thank you for sharing your work with us
  13. Slightly off topic, but I went to an "estate sale" for a man who refurbished license plates. I was thrilled to find a North Carolina 1965 plate in decent shape that was already primered for $5. My husband and I painted it to the colors in '65 and gave it to my father in law for for Christmas for his 1965 Econoline pickup.
  14. It's a beautiful area of North Carolina! I happen to love the transportation Museum
  15. I wish I could, but hopefully next year. Have a great time!
  16. Wow. That was a rather rude reply :-(
  17. Leave as early as possible!!! Seriously - because you will then be in traffic on the way back also. No trailers at all on any parkways. Doesn't matter what's towing it.
  18. Easy - DON'T DO IT!! lol Being a former LI'er, there's always traffic on LI. Try and travel at off-peak times - like 2am on Mondays and Tuesdays. On a slithly more serious note, don't go on any Parkways - they are for cars only
  19. I upgraded my HP laptop to W 10 and although I like working on my laptop, I can't see any other computers and can't print! It always asks me for a user name and password to look at any other computer in our house - which is something we NEVER set up I'm very frustrated
  20. Since I drive my truck daily having an easy-on easy-off mount was the best solution:-). I will give him your regards also!! And we will be in Charlotte again this year and will judge too :-) Thanks!!!
  21. MAP = Mileage Award Program Here's a link to the page: http://www.aaca.org/mileageaward.html The Mileage Award Program has been established to recognize AACA members who drive an AACA-approved vehicle throughout the calendar year. Participation is voluntary and tracking mileage is the owner's responsibility; although subject to review. It is intended that all activity and mileage will be governed by the vehicle's owner. Any time a vehicle is driven - anywhere for any reason - the mileage counts towards the award level. Miles where the vehicle is towed (emergency or non-emergency) do not count towards the total driving miles.
  22. Along with time with family... I got a NOS radio for the Burb
  23. My dear husband mounted my HPOF and Red Bird on this black license plate. I had them originally on the grille, however, I could never find a license plate to fit in the bumper that I liked and fit the style of the truck, so we came up with this! Also, the extra bolt was put in so when I'm at a show, I can install my MAP award.. I'm quite please with the look and fit and thought I'd share
