  1. So how many cars are registered for next week's meet? Joel and I looking forward to being the in mountains and seeing some friends! Annie
  2. I've been interested in cars and trucks longer then I can remember! While my dad liked them, he didn't know much about them, other then which was the coolest one to have. Then he'd sell it and move on to the next one. I'm told he had a Chevelle and a Mach 1 Mustang! My mom could care less about cars! No one in my family can work on their own cars or shows them. I don't know where I got the bug from, but I've enjoyed the ride so far, and hope to enjoy it for many more years. I run into people all the time who are shocked that I've got my trucks! Even more shocked that I know something about them... and enjoy having a conversation with me since I can talk the talk So it really doesn't matter if you were raised with cars or raised without cars. If you like them, you liked them! There are few I don't like - as a matter of fact, lately I tend to gravitate towards the ugly "who would ever keep that car in such good shape" vehicles. I'm still in search of my elusive station wagon
  3. This is one of our members Dan Fuccella teaching kids how to be an AACA judge! Haggerty provided the hats, t-shirts, lanyards and Dan provided his knowledge.
  4. Enjoy!!! https://goo.gl/photos/kTrUaMwUajxw1ZMx5
  5. So great to see everyone today! !! Photos will be posted shortly... or a touch longer lol I'm pooped! Thanks to everyone who came out - the rain was a little worrisome in the morning, but it cleared up and we had a really nice turnout.
  6. We will have all AACA classes including DPC (Driver's Participation Class) and HPOF (Historical Preservation of Original Features)
  7. Needless to say... I'm excited that our car show weekend is here! Can't wait to get out there and have some fun!
  8. I felt the same way - they were too clean and the way they were holding the tools looked "staged" I know many women worked hard, so not to belittle that, but these photos weren't taken while they were working on the line. Heck, the painter didn't even have paint on her brush lol
  9. Bump - 1 week left to register!!! Get your's in today! Along with beautiful trophies, we will have amazing goodie bags, raffles, plenty of places to eat in the mall and great company from our club

  11. Great photos guys!!! Thanks! @Mark McAlpine I was sad to miss the show, but sometimes you have to choose Maybe you can make it to our NE Region Spring meet May 6th!
  12. Looks like it was a beautiful day!! Thanks for the photos @Robert Street!! A tough class for sure - what award did you win?! Here's what my husband and I did yesterday. We have been raising money for St Baldrick's for nine years now and each year, my husband shaves his head in solidarity
  13. Have fun this weekend everyone!! Please post photos for those of us who can't make it
  14. Hello friends! If you're looking for a great show.... here we are! The Triangle Chapter is hosting the NC Region Spring Meet in Raleigh on May 6. In addition, we will also have an Open car Show - since we all have friends who like to modify their vehicles, this is for them! The show is open to all vehicles 25 years and older. (It's the first time I'll have both of my trucks at one show so I'm pretty excited!! ) We will have all AACA Classes in the Region meet and in the Open show, will will have 1st place in each decade, with additional trophies for Best Ford, GM and Other in the 1950's, 60's and 70's class. And wait til you see our trophies!! They are original and gorgeous and we've put a lot of time into designing and building them too The show will be held at Triangle Town Center mall, so there's plenty of places to eat, and trailer parking. We'll have 50/50 Raffles and also some great prizes to raffle off. Hope to see you all there!
  15. Welcome! It doesn't look like anyone has posted the Judging Guidelines for 2017: http://www.aaca.org/images/judge/2017_AACA_Judging_Guidelines.pdf Details of HOPF Certification are on page 4-13 (page 88 in the PDF file) and it details the class. Then look at Page 81 - it is the HPOF Evaluation form and go through all of the modifications you've done to your car to determine if it is eligible for HPOF Certification. From what you've described, you've done too many changes to get the HPOF Chip unless you bring it all back to stock and/or with factory options for the specific year of the vehicle. I've been showing my daily driven Suburban in HPOF and have had some repairs made which has dropped me out of Original HPOF to HPOF and if I keep having problems, will not be able to have it evaluated in this class. I love going to the shows and enjoy judging, so it'll be what it will be in the future
  16. Are you interested in selling it? I will pass the info to a friend who might love to have it!!
  17. I'm OK with imperfect paint. It will be my DD but that kinda rust is no good IMHO.
  18. So I've been tossing around the idea of selling my Burb and getting something smaller.... like a station wagon. This red Vista Cruiser is a few miles from my house, so today, my husband and I went to get a closer look at it and sadly, it needs more work then I'm willing to do right now She's straight as an arrow down the sides, but the rust around the windows is really bad It's been sitting at a repair shop for a few months and was told the owner wants $7500 for it. I didn't go talk to him - he was down that block at his own store. Then, while going to the auto parts store to pick up an ignition module for the Burb, I saw the white Vista Cruiser at someone's house! We stopped to ask about it, but no one was home and as you can see from the photos... she's in even worse shape then the white one. But I thought I'd share my adventures in car searching
  19. Thanks Marty!! And it was great talking with you and Dale
  20. I took Eric's Tyres Tyres Tyres CJE - it was great, very informative with notes printed out for each person. Would have been a good start. :-/
