  1. Dave, the NC DMV is now beyond impossible. I had quite an ongoing event with the NC DMV ........ not because of a violation on my part, but because the DMV folks in Raleigh did not understand their own policies. All is well now, but it was a struggle to supply all the needed GENERAL MOTORS information, to defend my position.
  2. Paul, I lived in Ellijay, GA, brought my 1951 Chevy to GA from Ohio. The '51 had a clear, clean Ohio title, had historic plates, as well. I transferred the car to a GA registration, the Ohio title was given back to me, after the DMV COPIED the necessary numbers off the Ohio title. I actually brought my '51 to the Ellijay DMV ..... the DMV had no interest if I had a '51 Chevy outside or a Sherman Tank. Today, I still have that Ohio title, but to sell it ....... to falsely represent the title as ANOTHER 1951 Chevy is a felony, in many states. Not something I would do.
  3. Don't know about using brake fluid on the leather diaphragms, but auto tranny fluid does work.
  4. Antique Auto Battery would not honor a battery replacement, on a "DELCO" labeled battery, under one year old. I use a Battery Tender, but they contend I did not care for the "dead battery". No warranty replacement from Antique Auto Battery.
  5. Factory would not instruct a dealer to reset mileage to zero, under any circumstances.
  6. "i refuse to risk my life - my equipment - or a customer’s vehicle because they can’t wait until Spring when safe driving conditions allow for safe transport." Well Jim, what can I tell you ? No risks here Jim ..... As you know, I did not contact you.
  7. Matt, my work life was with GM and Chevrolet. The FACTUAL reason the battery feed wire is not connected ..... is to disarm a LIVE battery feed terminal, at the plug connector, IF a live 12 volt feed is not required, by the customer. This practice has been in effect, going back to 1975, for certain. Under normal travel trailer hook ups, the TRALIER BATTERY would supply the 12 volt requirements for the trailer, while the red, LIVE wire would serve as the charge line for the TRAILER BATTERY, when trailer is being towed.
  8. Yes, seriously, dep5. On this Interstate, by Asheville, NC, at the intersection of I 40 and I 26, the single left lane goes to the west, the right lane heads north. I was in the correct lane, heading west. The doofus jumped into the right lane, the northbound lane, passed me incorrectly by using the right northbound lane ...... then cut in front of me to head west, thereby cause a huge wreck. So no, dep5, I was not just "crusing " in an incorrect lane ..... I was following the correct path, in the correct lane. Clear now ?
  9. Paul, I made contact and received a reply from Mike West. He is not interested at this time. Thanks for the lead Paul, we'll keep looking. "Hi Robert, Thank you for the email. Im not running again until after snow and salt is gone. Id also need a load back east. Im not interested at this time. Mike"
  10. Thanks Paul, I tried my BATSMOTORSPORTS contact, but discovered the wife you tried to contact was ill, which led to her open heart surgery.
  11. Nothing reassuring in that photo to me. Rear of Tundra is low, front of trailer is low ....... more weight load is being placed on the front axle tires of the trailer. A distribution hitch is needed to drive safely.
  12. V.L., Here is where we disagree. To tow anything behind your vehicle, at speeds above 55 or 60, is a hazard to you, and to anyone who is in your area of influence. Just this past summer, a smart ass guy, who was driving a U HAUL Truck, with a loaded UHAUL Trailer, decided I was going too slow, at my 60 mph. He passed me on the right, at 70 mph or above, cut back in front of me, blew out a trailer tire, hit and seriously wrecked himself, his trailer, his car on the trailer ..... and three other vehicles. At 60 MPH, I zigged and zagged to avoid all the carnage and fortunately I did. I was in court, as a witness for the prosecution. Drive defensively V.L., drive 55 to 60, with trailer in tow.
  13. I need to try here, no replies at TRAILER FORUM. ENCLOSED transport needed for a beautiful running and stopping 1951 Chevrolet from HENDERSONVILLE, NC ( 15 miles south of Asheville ) to TWO RIVERS, WISCONSIN ( 100 miles north of Milwaukee ). 850 miles. FLEXIBLE DATES. Buyer is willing to drive to Milwaukee, if necessary, to pick up the CHEVY. PLEASE REPLY if you are or know a CURRENT TRANSPORTER and able to assist. Advise on loaded rate / mile. Thank you.
  14. These dealer issued license plate frames have been a burr in my saddle for a long time. Not only are we advertising for the dealer for free ....... we have also opened ourselves up to the "cop pull overs", with a potential citation as a "reward".
  15. Ain't that the truth ....... then trying to carefully chew your arm off in the A.M., so not to wake the Princess you bring home in the wee hours. She looked so much better the night before ....... without the 5 o'clock shadow.
  16. Did anyone notice the DEEP shine on all the black cars that passed on the auction block last week ? Wondering how ALL of them looked sooooo good ?
  17. Whatever year they may represent, they are nice items to own.
  18. Why would you think it would be different this year ????? Barrett Jackson is the same, event after event, year after year. The car hobby historically has not been a money maker for the seller ..... but some big bucks were spent at B.J., just the same.
  19. Based on the variety of vehicles you have shown, you Dad has a very wide interest. I'm certain he would be very proud of you, V.L., for the efforts you have applied and the success you have achieved ..... during a difficult time in his life AND your life, as well. Please P.M. me with whatever CORVAIR parts you are willing to sell.
  20. Beautiful car Matt ! Keep in mind, the guys who criticize the most are the same guys who can't afford to buy breakfast .
