Looking for info on how the wires were originally ran. The original wires are taped together with electrical tape and are a mess so I am redoing them. I have a dual filament bulb so their are two wires. Did they lay loose in the wire holders? Was there a sleeve over them? Were they bound every so many inches? I have peeled back some electrical tape and see what Looks like a 3/8" fabric tape binding. Any help would be appreciated.

Before you re-solder. The 1/16" protrusion, bend the wire strands outward from the center, this will help in re-soldering..
Will do,Thanks again

The electrical insert out of the bulb holder. The insert consists of the bake-lite, two springs and two sleeves(inside the springs), does not come apart. Check the little springs to make sure they are not rusted away or collapsed, should be able to check the spring action by pulling on the wire, or pushing the soldered end. If the springs are not working it could result in not making contact with the bulb. To replace the wire, use a soldering iron on the soldered end(the end which makes contact with bulb) when melted pull the wire out the back. Then strip insulation off the end of new wire appriox 1/8", slip it in place of the old wire, the stripped end should stick thru the sleeve about 1/16", then solder. Hope this helps..
@pont35cpe THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I did not realize that it was soldered on the bulb end. I got it apart and only mildly burned myself.

@pont35cpe I called Kurt and he did not have anything available.
I have everything apart and was wondering how you joined what looks like modern wiring to the bakelite (or whatever it is) spring assembly. It does not appear that
it disassembles.
Thank you,
Allen

Thanks, I'll get with Kurt. One of the filaments on my bulb was out. The wiring is in bad shape as well. Needs addressed for sure.

That is the same. `41 Pontiacs use those also. The electrical part is the harder piece to find, I rewired mine, a lot of times the springs in that connector have rotted away and they`re useless. Kurt Kelsey(sells NOS Pontiac parts)he may have these.
I guess I need to pull mine apart to see what all is going on in there.

Would this work? It is for a Buick of the same year:
I was hoping for a new replacement with the inner pieces as well.

Nice Columbia there, at least the drums kept it off the ground!
Thank you. They did keep it off the ground. The drums themselves were full of dirt and sand and what used to be brake shoe linings. But the rest of it was saved. Will have to buy a few pieces but she should come back to life.
