    Thanks for posting "a picture from the past". I attended the Auction they had in the 1970's to dispose of some Parts.

    I should still have the Sale bill someplace, and maybe even of a picture taken then. It was advertised then as being the oldest continuous operating FORD dealer in the U.S.

    According to the Ford-Dealer related magazine FORD DEALER & SERVICE FIELD, dated JUNE  1934,  H. A. Geeting Auto Co. had been in business 20 Years at the time (or 1914).

    Shown are ABOUT SIXTY SEVEN (67) NEW Thermostats - most in original boxes, and most of them are WESTERN AUTO. There are a few for the Radiator Hose , but most are insert type for the engine. Most are unidentifiable and only stamped with The Western Auto Number; with a few identified by their BRIDGEPORT or HARRISON Numbers.

    FS: VINTAGE WINDSHIELD DEFROSTERS.

    These GLASS Defrosters are held in place by Rubber Suction Cups, and have perimeter rubber seals to hold the heat in. (Probably 6 Volt operated).

     

    -The Top defroster is 13 3/8" long by 5" wide and made by FULTON. This style uses an External switch of some sort.  Looks like it is NEW.

    $15.00

    -Defroster on the bottom  measures 16 1/4" long by 8 1/4 " wide by unknown manufacturer. The attached Off-on switch is marked "SIGNAL".

    MISSING ONE OF THE SUCTION CUPS, BUT LOOKS GOOD OTHERWISE. Price: $10.00

    FS: VINTAGE BUMPER BOLTS

    Original Stainless-Steel Clad Bolts For Sale. Most have ROUND HEADS but some have OVAL HEADS. MOST ARE KNICK-FREE.

    -The NOS ROUND HEADED bolts  are shown in the upper-right corner: Have ONE 1 1/2" long and THREE 1" long bolts with a 1" diameter head; SIX 1" long 7/8" diameter heads; and TEN 1" long plus ONE 7/8" long bolts with a 3/4" diameter head.  TOTAL: 21 BOLTS.

    - The lower- right corner shows USED ROUND HEAD bolts. Did not count them but they weigh 4 1/2 pounds of various sizes, Some have the original Castellated nuts. Most are Knick-free while some are ALMOST knick-free.

    - Those in the lower-left corner have ROUND HEADS, but are "SPECIAL" in that there are NO THREADS ON THEIR ROUND SHANKS. (Looks like they just SLIP into a bumper hole). There are 1 Pound of these.

    - Upper-left corner shows OVAL HEAD bolts IN GOOD CONDITION of various sizes--- 1 1/2 pound of these.

    Total weight for all the above is 7 1/2 Pounds.

    This approximate 164-Piece collection comes with of the Original Chevrolet Parts Tags which identify the part. ALL ARE NOS and  consist of carburetor jets, pins, vanes, levers, screws, washers, needles, screens, gaskets, plugs, ball checks, and a cone. They cover the years of 1925-1940.

    FS: 1939 PACKARD SALES PORTFOLIO.

    Two pictures show several plates from a 24 1/2" x 14 1/2" 1939 Packard Body Type Portfolio. This Spirol-Bound Book had been dismantled with SOME PLATES MISSING. The plates that are left are in beautiful color and suitable for framing. The Body Types covered are: "NEW SIX"; "ONE TWENTY"; and "SUPER EIGHT". "WHAT IS LEFT" are: a SIX Business Coupe Plate; EIGHT "ONE-TWENTY" Plates; and FOUR "SUPER EIGHT" Plates.

    ( "I believe the Portfolio is "MISSING" Four of the "SIX" Plates; and ONE "SUPER EIGHT" Plate.). The Front and Rear Imitation Leather bound covers and Tabbed Divider plates are there. Everything is in Good Condition .

    Is it possible to ID Ford T assembly plant?

    I do not know about identifying a Model T from a Body marking, but the only method I have found is by researching past information from Ford Dealers which I have been fortunate enough to come across. Of course with several thousand Total Dealers spread across these States and with millions of cars having been sold, it would be impossible to research all possibilities.

    But I am gathering, from what I have, such Model T statistics as MOTOR NUMBERS, BODY STYLE, DELIVERED PRICE, ORDER DATE, etc.for both NEW an USED units as sold by two small-town Ford Dealers - one from Indiana and  the  other from here in Central Ohio.

    So far I have over 700 units listed. This information could primarily help those in only these areas. But it might help those owners whose cars have been moved to different areas.

    Typically, Ford Motor Co. had so-called BRANCH OFFICES scattered across the nation - with the main office and factory located in Dearborn. Some of the Branches also assembled and shipped new units to the Ford Dealers that were assigned to their territory. For the most part, each of those Branches tried to keep New Unit Ford sales isolated to their area. But since Ford was after all the sales he could come by, probably boundaries were frequently crossed in order to close a sale. If so, the selling-Branch probably shipped the unit to the Dealer who received credit for the sale. Also keep in mind that Dealers would go out of their territory to another Dealer if that Dealer had a certain Model on hand that was needed by the first dealer in order to complete a sale.There were over 30 Branch Offices in the late 20's, but not all assembled and shipped new Units.

    Several Branch locations served the PA. area, so it depends where you live. The Buffalo, N.Y. Branch assembled units for mainly the Central- Northern and  North- Western parts of N.Y. , as well as for portions of North-Central and Western PA.. Edgewater, N.Y. served areas in Northern N.Y. , some parts of Eastern PA., plus probably some other close-by areas. I also think that the Chester PA., and perhaps the Alexandria, VA. Branches may have shipped some new Model T's to areas of Western PA.

    MODEL T NEW/USED CAR SALES RECORDS.

    Are there enough T owners out there that would be interested in knowing where their car would have been sold when new?

    If enough interest, would someone then be willing to take on the task of sorting out and listing the information - such as motor numbers and delivered prices - contained in records that came out of several old Ford Dealerships? These records I would gladly furnish free of charge.

    I have had most of these for about 40 years, after finding them in Dealers' attics; but I am "cleaning house", and hate to throw them away if I can find a good home for them.

    These records ARE NOT THE BRANCH OFFICE OR DEARBORN FACTORY NEW CAR SHIPPING INVOICES,  but are simply that what was recorded by the Dealer at the time of sale. Some used the Ford-designated "New Car Order" forms, while others recorded the information on their Register Receipts or other paper. I would also include records listing the USED Model T's sold where the dealer had listed the motor number, The NEW-CAR records cover the years of 1922-27. I would guess there are over 100 pieces of paper involved.

    Let me know if anyone is interested in following through on this project.

    1920'S FORD BRANCH LETTERS ON STOLEN LINCOLN CARS.

    Ran across many Ford Branch letters to its dealers from the mid 20's where a lot of them mentioned in detail what particular Lincoln automobile had recently been stolen. They often had a long list of Lincolns stolen earlier as well. But those stolen recently were described in detail such as: the color; the model; appointments; its key number; special equipment; etc.  But for some reason most of those stolen were painted "COBALT BLUE".

    Was Cobalt Blue a more popular color , and hence resulted in more sales in those days? Or was perhaps the crooks more interested in that color?  Anyone venture to guess why Cobalt Blue Lincolns were reported stolen more than any other color?

    From the tone of these Branch Letters, it would appear that Ford Motor Co. made a concerted effort to alert all its Dealers of stolen Lincolns, and to be on the lookout for them.

    Anyone?
