I will do that. It would not surprise me if wheel bearings needed at least to be repacked and adjusted. Easy enough to check them out. There is no squeek that I noted on my short drive. The tires are old as well, but in pretty good shape. Hoping they will round out fully when I get it back on the road a bit. Thanks! -

Yep, looks like tie rod ends which is simple, but not cheap of course. $98/ea at Boos. And so it goes with classics... -
I definitely have a little travel left and right in the front end. The steering wheel does not have much play but my front left wants to wander a bit. Suggestions for starting locations? I really don't want to do kingpins if I can avoid it.

I kind of miss getting the pictures a week later, not remembering what I took.

Thanks so much for your guidance on this one. Finally warm enough here to get the car out of the garage. Tried this yesterday and it freed right up. Shifts smoothly in all gears. Awesome! Believe it or not, when I was running it briefly down my back road to test it out, I was in the process of turning around and some guy in a pickup was waiting while I did so. As soon as I backed up, he darted in front of me and spun gravel at me. Man was I pissed!!! Couldn't do anything about it though. Hope I see him again sometime. What kind of idiot does stuff like that to a classic car?

V-12 heads, polished or painted? 47 Conti Cab
TakinitEZ replied to TakinitEZ's topic in Lincoln & Zephyr
Mine have never been retouched, so maybe I can find the answer myself after getting rid of some of the top layer of crud. They look "greyish" to me now, but I need to clean them up and see what I see. Thanks guys. -

I do actually really like the green. BTW, I have the air canister but no filter. Good source? -
Which is correct on a v-12 Continental, polished or painted heads? And despite what's correct, which do you prefer?
-
Will do. Thanks again!

Love the look of that '41 Coupe! If you decide not to use the 2x, I may take it off your hands. -
Anyone have a picture of a proper firewall?

Thank you very much! -
I'll give that a try. Will that work in reverse too? That way I could go back and forth...no plates yet.

I'm missing what I assume to be a heater core on my firewall. There is a single round duct opening with nothing connected to it and a few lonely brackets. Can anyone share a pic of a proper firewall? 47 Cab.
