  1. I'm thinking about converting it back to manual steering.. But now it has dual exhaust and power brakes..I would have hated to pull everything only to discover that the manual box won't fit cause of either the exhaust or brakes.
  2. Is it possible to have dual exhaust and power brakes but manual steering on a 56 special?
  3. I should probably clarify what I mean by won't take grease.. One is super hard but the other just leaks right past the fitting.. Tried a new fitting
  4. I don't think I can do the torch thing there's not much space and rubber to close..I did try lifting car.. No help..I removed the fitting and there was fresh grease in there and nothing old or hard to be found..
  5. So I just lubed my chassis... Everything went fine the passenger king pin didn't want to take grease but after removing the fitting and fishing around with a drill bit I got it to behave.. However for the life of me I can't get one of the upper outer control arm zerks on the passenger side and one of the inners on the upper control arm driver side to take any grease.. Any suggestions... Is this a high wear area??
  6. Part number is the same for all three the number is new departure 909065
  7. I have three nos outer wheel bearings they are the new departure brand.. Of course made in the USA..I know these will fit a 56 Buick and maybe other years. They are 40 bucks each plus 10 shipping in cont USA.
  8. I ran an 8 gauge wire to the battery 10 gauge wire on the voltage regulator..I removed the regulator and spliced the two wires.
  9. Powergen installed so far so good
  10. Hi guys I have two generators for sale one is a beck arnley reman that I used for a couple of years no problems with it comes with no pulley 50 bucks.. The other is a Wilson reman that I also ran for a couple of years no problems with it comes with pulley 60 bucks. 25 shipping for either one in the cont USA.
  11. I have a healthy one if you need it still..pm me and we can work out the details.
  12. Lol ok thanks.. The 56 manual mentions a bracket and the clamps but shows no pictures and of course when the car was originally manual steering I never looked at how it attached had no need to.
  13. Is this all that's needed to mount the box or is there another bracket needed
  14. So I found these on eBay but I'm not sure if there's another part I would need the manual mentions a bracket.. If someone could please post a picture of how the manual box is attached eBay item number 401236440350
  15. This is the Borg Warner brand.. Once I find a good one I'm set for awhile but this is getting old and clearly unreliable...I don't remember anymore how I have it set up...I thinII used one light silver and one blue spring with maybe the biggest or second biggest bushing.
  16. I'm running the mad distributor have for a few years now.. Pricey but no problems.. Points are great but just one the voltage regulators it's getting hard to buy a decent set
  17. Maybe it's just me but I have to wonder if the guy telling the story was an insurance salesman;)
  18. Did you ever end up getting a powergen?
  19. No I don't have a use for that.. Running Running starter button...
  20. I posted this in the buy sell forum but thought I'd try here as well.. I'm looking for the bracket and clamps needed to mount a manual steering box for a 56 special.
  21. Well after yet another voltage regulator going bad on me I've had it and just ordered a power master powergen... Hopefully it's worth it.. I'll keep everyone posted
  22. I'm looking for the bracket and clamps needed to attach the manual steering box.
  23. So here's the whole story... The box that was on there leaked bad.. But the steering was fine in both directions..I took a spare box and took it apart cleaned it and resealed it..I reused the valve that was on the original box I figured it worked so use it... The original leaking box I didn't go through cause it had a ton of play.. Now it's leak free and feels great turning right but no assit turning left...
  24. Can someone please post pics of how the manual steering box on a 56 attaches to the frame.
  25. That's what we were wondering.. We reused the old valve assembly from the box that was on there thinking it was working fine before so stick with what was working....
