  1. get oversize rings--steel do compression check to check valves
  2. sometimes the rings are made of hardened material and rip the cylinder wall I was told to use steel rings not molybidium --also check timing may not be firing at right time leading to incomplete combustion
  3. clutch was stuck to flexpate thanks every body for helping adjusted it spins freely now
  4. thanks john but ran ground right to bolt from bell housing to bolt to attach starter checked with ohmmeter 0.00 from ground resistance starter bolt to ground on battery I .m getting an 875 cca battery tommorow see if it works
  5. there is no relay to starter took field wire off voltage regulator and heard a little crank
  6. tranny is in but no reverse turned flexplate after starter out turned easily battery putting out 575 cca and 5.88 volts checked at napa said battery good but I think it is the battery over 3 years old
  7. if I push down on clutch should be no stress on tranny just motor but flex plate turns freely what about generator???
  8. reverse went-- that that have anything to do with starter?
  9. if flex plate turns motor should be ok and press on clutch to make sure not in gear can overdrive lock everything up???
  10. flex plate moves easily rocked car about 2 feet forward and back no problem it's go to be something simple tried jumping negative (positive ground) to strarter trigger and one click no start also put ground directly to ground on solenoid one click negative to bolt in starter turns the motor great but no bendix
  11. motor flex plate turns freely I always had 12 volt battery cables for years and started right up is 1 click from solenoid a voltage problem thanks
  12. Hello again I have a 49 chrysler 251 ci 6 cylinder spitfire and trouble starting -bought battery and starter to ace armature and they both bench tested fine . Then put back in engine and only one click no start bought new battery cables still no start jumped positive to solenoid get one click - so anyone have any great ideas? could it be voltage regulator? thanks in advance

  14. Hello it seems if I jack my car up reverse works and when I take the jack out -no reverse when it is lowered anybody have pics or can tell me how to adjust selector rod to 1st and reverse???? thanks
  15. need another spring on bottom holes and retainer pins that go thru backplate
  16. Help !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! cant get reverse to work car has never been on road== tranny gone through and said it was ok $4000.00 ?selector rod ??? place in neutral adjust ?? Help me all other gears work = 10 weight sae nd motor oil for tranny fluid

  19. Hello again -- my 49 Chrysler royal suddenly has no juice to starter motor --I took starter out and it was tested and was good. I get no noise when I turn the ignition key to he starter position -like no power to ignition to starter, Does anyone have a diagram of the ignition switch. Can I jump a wire from power source to ign wire on solenoid??? Thanks for helping !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  20. solved the problem the lower wheel cylinder piston was stuck in the outward position pushing the right brake out at the bottom --after I pushed it in (and it released brake fluid in my eye) hub and brake linings were ok - and new top wheel cylinder was closer to the brake shoe and didn t leak (so far) thanks rusty and keiser u r a lifesaver
