I mean pushing gear selector on the transmission with rod selector detached

push selector gear to back of car towards differential? or is it towards the front??

ji jack by pushing the gear selector all the way back is not reverse? also have to adjust neutral?

thanks bob for looking disconnected rod selector pushed gear selector by hand all the way back goes into first not reverse --have to take it back to transmission shop after I spent 2 days taking out tranny 2 days putting it back in and killing myself on my back under car no lift

no all original same tranny and driveshaft

3 weeks later got tranny and driveshaft in -no reverse still just shoot me it must be linkage

good point I took the traany out and put it back in and driveshaft is 1/4 inch short should I use a pry bar tried jacking up car -still a little short

no spline to adjust driveshaft

Well I finally got the tranny in and driveshaft is about 1/4 inch too tight. Can driveshaft be adjusted from oil seal. Thanks for helping

Hello again I finally got reverse going and trying to put tranny back - but as I push the tranny in I get stock a few inches out from mating I fixed the throwout bearing and clutch fork to align but seems tranny output shaft gets stuck 3/4ths of the way in . Tried turning tranny to get spline aligned . Raised and lowered tranny and I still can't get it all the way in to mate Any ideas or tricks???? Thanks in advance

ok here's the pics there are 6 bolts holding the copper colored shroud cover over the clutch springs should I take them off

I have a car manual and it says to remove clutch from transmission that's all doesn't show how to do it I have never removed a clutch does tranny just pull out or is it attached to output shaft? will take pictures

Hello again I am trying to remove the m6 transmission form my 1949 Chrysler Royal woody and I have disconnected speedometer cable emergency brake selector and control rods and I'm not familiar on how to remove clutch from transmission . Can anyone help thanks

take door panel off use plywood template in back of door panel-- fill armrest with fiberglass around screw holes and place screws in fiberglass while it cures then take screws out and use new screws in back of plywood template good luck

I have 49 Chrysler 6 cylinder 251 ci and the rubber motor mounts are disintegrated -the ones on the engine and tranny -are there supposed to be steel washers on top and bottom of motor mount

blue plastic might be oil seal -broken piece -maybe that's why oil is shooting onto spark plug
