  1. Winston, Ed and all, See you in Springfield - leaving in a caravan of Buicks from the KC area soon. Rock On gord
  2. Chris, The port on the back passenger side top is attached to a rubber hose and subsequently attached to a steel pipe that goes to the front/under side of the Choke Heat Tube connection of the exhaust manifold. There is a clip on the valve cover that holds the pipe. There are two connections for the choke heat tube to work correctly - one from the choke to the back/top of the exhaust manifold (usually has a braided white cloth covering) and one from the carburetor to front/bottom of the exhaust manifold. The choke heat tube is actually a through passage in the exhaust manifold and these pipes are connected to the ends of that passage. I believe this set up is the same for Rochester and Carter carburetors, I have a Rochester. I am not sure what the hole that you point out is, mine does not seem to have that hole. Hope this helps and Rock On gord

  7. Chris If you still have the old switches I can rebuild them for you. I advertise in the Riview I rebuild 1st gen Riviera door jamb switches. I replace the sliding contact with a beryllium copper much longer lasting slide on all switches and typically can get almost any core to working order - replacing other parts on the switch I also have a few complete switches if you are interested and don't have cores. Contact me if you decide to go this way.
  8. Ed I agree. Of all that I have seen CARS is the best, and they are very involved with our Association. Rock On gord
  9. Susan and I plan on being there. My Riv unfortunately does not like puddles so it will be in the garage (barring a miracle). I will be driving a 32 year old car, but not the Riviera. Rock On gord
  10. I know it isn't my house, but I think the adage "The More The Merrier" works in this instance. Rock On gord
  11. Susan and I are in too - prominently shown on the calendar. Like Ed I need an address for my GPS too, please send PM. It may be a good idea to stop by Jackson as a big crew sometime before dark that evening. Rock On gord
  12. Ed et al. Susan and I are in. We do have some weekends accounted for already. The Louisburg show in May, the AACA and the BCA in June, and St Charles are all on the list. We will venture to Jackson Drive on some Saturdays, and the Long Branch on Fridays. Most Sundays are open for us, if that would work for others. BTW at Jackson you can all park together but you got to get there pretty early and somebody will have to save some spots. The local Buick guys all kind of congregate at the west end of the parking lot. Several Grand Nationals, some GSs, a few 50's, my Riviera and sometimes there are other Rivieras too. Rock On gord
  13. Kendall, I got a kit from TechnologyLK (linked to site). The kit was called "Cerium Oxide High Grade Polishing Powder - 8 Oz and Felt Polishing Wheel Kit". I did not use it on side glass. I used it on the windshield of my 1963 Falcon. I had pretty deep Scratches from a windshield wiper arm gone amuck, and using this kit I pretty much was able to eliminate the problem. It takes a while and is quite messy. It sounds like it may be helpful with your problem. I hope this helps. Rock On gord
  14. Rich I have an 1965 triple Black Riviera and my headliner and visors are the silver with the speckles in it, and it is original. Rock On gord
  15. I will have my 65 Riviera in Springfield too, a triple black one I call Black Beauty. It will be great to see a whole mess of 50 year old beauties all on the same show field. Rock On gord
  16. Pat, I took over for Paul, and I am also an ROA member. I use the same supplier he used for years for the plunger contact now. Anyone interested PM me or call me, my number is in the Riview. Basically, I take your core and rebuild it with new parts if the core is good enough (and most of the ones I have received and rebuilt have been good enough to rebuild). All you have to do is send me the cores with a check for $15/per switch. I will rebuild them and ship them back to you. Return Shipping is free in the USA, and I charge actual shipping to other global locations. I also welcome any switch parts or cores in bad shape if you want to send them my way - I can usually salvage parts to use in the rebuilding process. I look at it as kind of a pay it forward process. Rock On gord
  17. Thanks Tom. For anyone in need send a PM to me to make arrangements for 1st Gen Door Jamb Switch refurbish. They will be as good as new for $15 each, and will work as they did when delivered from the factory. Contact me via PM and I will give you mailing and payment instructions. Return shipping in the US is included, all you have to do is send the rebuild-able cores to me with a check for $15 per switch you want rebuilt. I replace any parts that are not up to snuff, as well as I always replace the copper plunger contact with a much stronger and longer lasting beryllium copper plunger contact. If they ever not function after they have been refurbished - just contact me and I will repair them again. Rock On gord

    EMERGENCY!

Kaber, my wife and I watch TCM for the same reason. You get to see cars from all ages, all the way from the beginning or cars being manufactured through the early 70's. We saw what I believe was a white '63 about half way through "The Out of Towners" movie. It was in two shots, and as in your spotting, it was parked on the side of the road for just a few split seconds. The move was a 1970 release of a Neil Simon written movie with Jack Lemon as the male lead. Rock On gord
  19. Ed that is cool. There is a website on the KS DMV site where you can check if it is used or not if you haven't registered it yet, to see if you can use it or not. I am guessing it is not a used number. Let me know if you need the web address. Rock On gord
  20. Ed, Susan and I are going. I think you should go and I am with Lamar, you really need to re-up with the BCA. You should be able to pass the background investigation. We will be at the ROA meet in St. Charles too. Rock On gord
  21. Thanks Ed. There were only a few frame suppliers that GM used, Parish and the other I remember was AO Smith were a couple suppliers for a lot of years. Parish was and still is a division of Dana Corp, (the automotive parts supplier). Rock On gord
