  1. Scott, at the risk of going off topic, I well remember your father. A real gentleman. He , along with John Caperton, Tom Smith and John Stinger and others acted as my mentors when I first started touring. A great bunch of men, well remembered. Zeke
  2. I sometimes buy repair kits from dealers on eBay if the rest of the unit is still good. Zeke
  3. Personally, the issue is not how they look on the outside but the handles protruding into the inside. Those handles are always in the way.
  4. It gives me no pleasure to say this but the young woman in the photo may be a “Century “ in her own right. Zeke
  5. What you are planning will have very little benefit. External contracting brakes have somewhat limited stopping power because they are external. Adding force to them will only make them lock up easier and once the wheels start scooting, the game is over. Open your hand, palm up. That area is about the same as the tire surface touching the pavement. While your idea will give you more pressure applied to the brakes, it won’t increase your stopping power. Zeke
  6. In my career as a rural carrier I was fortunate in that I wasn’t issued an LLV so I can’t address brake issues on them. As far as my route vehicle, if the rest of the brake system was up to par, rear brakes would last one year while the front pads lasted about six months. I always carried a spare set of pads and rotor and tools in case I had to change pads on the side of the road or in someone’s driveway. Once or twice I “borrowed” an empty garage space when it was raining. Zeke
  7. I have the exact same charger. Mine belonged to my grandfather and has been around as long as I can remember. Sorry, no paperwork. Zeke
  8. Isn’t that a 1958 Buick in the far background? Zeke
  9. Thanks. A neighbor showed me a very similar one that he had recently purchased. I’m not sure if it was brass as it was painted black.
  10. Is the round face brass lamp in this photo automobile or carriage? Zeke
  11. Don: For a reference, this is the faceplate on my 1923 Speedster. I’m not sure, but I believe it is an original. Zeke
  12. Several years ago I had a locksmith key an Omega lock for me and he even bent a straight key to do it. He wanted the challenge. Still in business. Zeke
  13. I used the retaining ring from a gas cap for my radiator cap. That looks similar to what you show in the above photo. Zeke
  14. This is what my 1922 owners manual says. Sorry I’m not able to help more. Zeke
  15. I’m surprised that old Henry didn’t send his HR guy Harry Bennett to take care of things. Who needs to sneak around when Harry is available? Zeke
  16. Having just been to my wife’s 50th year high school reunion, I find nothing odd about this back end. Trying my best to be sensitive. Zeke
