  2. None of GM's worst can even compare with the some of the abominations from Ford, Chrysler, or American Motors.
  3. I would be so at his door. Please tell us his name.
  4. It's a 37. Like mine. If the wheelbase is 120", it's a 120 (8cylinder). If 115", a 115 (6cylinder).
  5. Somewhere I heard that Enzo modeled his Ferrari 12 after the Packard.
  6. I futzed with the battery on my Packard for months only to find the voltage regulator was a POS. Got a new one and a new size 0 negative cable from tractor supply and all is running like new. It idles, charges and runs altogether better.
  7. I found 1 gauge at Tractor Supply: http://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/traveller-post-terminal-battery-cable-1-gauge-48-in-black?cm_vc=-10005
  8. Edsel Ford kept the custom coachbuilders alive during the 30's. "Semi" customs were available for Lincolns from Derham, Judkins, Locke, Willoughby, LeBaron (Dietrich), Brunn, Murphy, Derham, Rollston, Waterhouse and others. They were built in the "white" and sent to Lincoln to be trimmed by Lincoln's own upholstery shop. This jives with Edsel's well documented patronization of the arts throughout Detroit. One has to remember that unlike Packard and Cadillac, Ford Motor Company had only 2 stock holders, Henry and Edsel. They answered to no one and proceeded to lose about $500 on every L or K model Lincoln, just to lend a little prestige to the lowly Ford. The story of how Henry lost the first Ford Motor Company to Henry Leland who then renamed it "Cadillac" is ironic when considering that Henry bought the Lincoln Motor Company from him some 20 years later in 1922 for pennies on the dollar. The picture of Henry and Edsel at the Lincoln Motor Company signing the deal is great. One son looks like the cat that ate the canary, the other totally dejected. http://myautoworld.com/ford/history/company-history/ford-buys-lincoln/ford-buys-lincoln.html http://www.coachbuilt.com http://willoughbycoach.com/StoryDomain_Lincoln.htm
  9. I replaced the voltage regulator on my packard. Better Charging. Better Idling. Better Driving. Now I have an extra.
  10. Any help finding a nice example will be appreciated.
  11. A good body shop will straighten the bumper on the car before it goes to the plater.
  12. Well, the Packard has the name. But the Buick has that fastback strait eight. I'd take the Buick.

  17. Killer deal showed up an hour ago for a trunk. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1920s-1930s-Packard-trunk-Motor-Car-Company-of-Detroit-/141114051096?pt=Vintage_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item20db0d8a18&vxp=mtr I'm going to wish I bought it.
  18. Bill When I owned that beautiful car, I had the pleasure of dealing with Tom Powels in Reseda, CA. He supplied lots of parts for the engine rebuild and could dig up just about anything if you stuck around and BSd enough. His son Leland (really) is still very active and can spend the rest of his life selling Tom's stuff. Do a google and you'll find a lot about Tom and Leland, early Lincoln collectors.
