  1. Good find, I looked at a buick at model T haven,I think he still has it. I know a guy to do the wood spoke wheels. He's fast and reasonable
  2. That's correct, the 25 standard six was the cheap model. Had no front brakes. I finished bending up the rear motor mount today. When I get back from Ct. I will be posting some detailed pictures
  3. I am using the original brakes, wood spoke wheels and stock hubs and bearings. The trans I'm using has an emergency brake on it. The Studebaker brakes are external shoes and the shoes and drums are in decent shape. I have rebuilt all the stock mechanical linkage and everything seems fine. Its pretty flat around here,so the brakes should be fine. ( famous last words)

  5. update -- had to rebuild my 6 cyl engine, today I got to set it back in the frame! I'm thinking I can use the truck trans as I had to change the front mount so the engine is about 3 in. higherI'm going to check fitment before I finish mounting the motor.Progress has slowed due to Christmas and trying to get my house ready to sell. Plus I'm going to Ct. end of next week.

  7. I have a 4x3 blasting cabinet in my present shop.! I have found that it leaks and the sand is everywere. When I build my new shop the cabinets are going in a small shed by themselves.That way I can keep dust off the projects

  10. I promise to post pics of the wheels tomorrow! I need to let you guys know about Stutzmans wheel shop. I sent them my 25 Studebaker wheels about 7 weeks ago. He said he would call when they were done. He called me 5 weeks later and told me they were finished and my bill was $980.00 I sent him a bank check the next day! About 6 days later I got the wheels back and the workmanship is amazing. The next day I got an envelope from Stutzman in the mail. In the envelope was a note telling me he had charged me too much and a check for $100. He said he made a mistake when he added the bill!!I was shocked at this mans honesty. I would have never known he charged too much. After reading many restoration horror stories its great to deal with this type of person. I would highly recommend Stutzmans wheel shop,,Baltic Ohio if you need wood spoke wheels rebuilt
  11. Anyone have a three speed floor. shift trans from a 41 to 48 m-5 pick-up.
  12. We are buying a new house, 5 acres I'm planning on having a 30 x50 shop built . It will be steel. This is hurricane country so it needs to strong.

  14. I am looking for a three speed trans for about a 46 champion pick-up. it must be a floor shift style. I don't want one with OD.
  15. I have two Studebaker champion 6 cyl engines . One will be my temp engine . I striped one down and found a broken dist. drive shaft and a bad bearing. Striped motor #2 yesterday and it looks good! I'm putting in rings and bearings and I'll be good to go. The first motor had stuck valves, The second doesn't. Now I need to find a 46 three speed trans with a floor shift. (out of a pick-up)I also varnished the wheels and they look great. Pics to follow
  16. They fab the spokes,you have to send them your best old spokes as a sample. I don't believe they have stock spokes.
  17. I got a call from Stutzmans yesterday. My wheels will be done Tuesday !! That's great and it was less than $1000. I pulled the OD trans and found a large mouse nest in the clutch ,looks like a new clutch and pressure plate is in order. I'm planning on dropping the oil pan to look for critters. I'm also looking for a three speed trans with a floor shift out of a truck. That will save me the trouble of fabing a floor shift.

  19. I got my 25 standard six at Model T haven in Kansas, He had another chassis with wheels there. I'm not sure if he still has it. It was a standard six about 25 - 27.He has a website and may be of some help.
  20. going to give 6 volts a shot. If connections are tight and batt is in good shape I think it will be fine!! I'd like to keep it closer to stock.
  21. Pulled the head and intake from the temp engine,I may have lucked out the pistons are tight and not much ridge. Just a couple of stuck valves. I'm planning on putting it back together and try to fire it .Also I'm getting a two bolt starter on Monday.
  22. The wheels were sent to Stutzmans on Friday. I started to mount the temp engine,had to build my own mounts! I'm now using a three speed trans. As soon as I find a two bolt Studebaker starter I will try to get the motor fired. I'm making sure I check radiator clearance,I don't want to screw up as I've done in the past. Monday I will complete the front mount then we'll see what happens.
  23. Looked at my casting number today, it appears to be an E or an F
  24. That is good news, the older the better. Thanks for the info. When I got it I was told it was a 27. I will try to remember to check the casting dates tomorrow .
  25. Wheels are apart ,sandblasted, and halfway painted, (primed) will finish painting next week ! Then starts fitting the motor. I got a second motor from Kansas this one has a three speed out of a car, hopefuthis won't hit the crossmember. I think maybe a week and a half.
