Does anyone know what the physical differences are between a series one and a series two 1936 Chrysler Airstream Coupes? I'm looking for windshield glass for my C7 and note that the part numbers for the two series are different....and I don't know what I have or how to tell. Any help would be appreciated

Seeker I feel for you.... Honestly. It is a different world today and, fortunately for you, you started on the collector journey before I did. You at least we're able to experience the profitable days of this hobby. Unfortunately we will have to rely on our grandchildren to pump air back into the hobby before we can expect the road to relief. Ain't going to happen so plan that your investments are likely going to end up in your estate. If the market revives(and it will), it could work out to be the most savvy estate plan you have. Consult with your estate consular and then sleep easy. However if you have difficulty with this and you just want to divest, we can pick up again on the email conversation we had six months ago. I have a set of Cadillac 15x7 chrome wire wheels. They have a 5-4 3/4 bolt pattern and are in excellent shape. They are off my '48 Cadillac. $400 + freight takes them. Also have a set of Cadillac 60-70s hub caps.... $200

Might be interested in the chrome horns and any side moldings or chromed pieces you might have for the '36 chyrsler. Did you finally sell yours? Do you happen to have any interior gauges or trim? Also looking for exterior chrome windshield wiper base trim. If you can, please provide me with a listing of what you have for I will not be coming to Hershey

Thank you for your reply. My initial solution was to correct what I had with a 3/16" that would extend from the two pivot posts (shown as the second alternative in the 1936 Plymouth reference as NOS articles. the 1936 Plymouth Dodge Chrysler DeSoto Hood HINGE ENDS NOS MoPar Chryco PAIR F & R shown at the second site referemced is what I have now, although they have been altered to accommodate some stripped bolt holes in the cowling. Long story short, the solution shown in the first reference utilizing heavier rod stock might have been workable but adapting the existing NOS hinge members to the 3/16" diameter stock did not produce an acceptable result. It would appear that the original NOS hinge member will only work if the center chrome strip connecting to two top hood members is pristine. Unfortunately mine is not...being jimmied and split at both ends. Because of the unique hood hinge design of the C7 hood, this issue has presented a real mind-teaser. Any thoughts? I assume that you are still receiving action on your C7 but my note is to ask a question. Can you share any information as to the fittings that secure your hood in place between the top of the radiator shell and the windshield cowling? The hood on my C7 has fittings that have obviously been modified and changed by previous owners and long story short, the hood is only secured by the side clamping lever rods and not in the center. When one lifts the hood side panel to access the engine, the hood slides away over the top. I have been trying to find descriptions of the original method of attachment in the parts manuals I have been able to purchase but so far, it has been a lost cause. Can you share any photographic description of the method used to secure your hood in place on its centerline? Williegeno

I need a 1936 Chrysler Airstream tail light lense.... Will consider buying a pair of complete tail lights if necessary. Does anyone know of an aftermarket lense that will fit into the SS tail light cage? Let me know... Williegeno

My coupe has them and I may end up eliminating the vent window assemblies although I hate to do that because they are one of the truly unique systems of the C7. So unique it seems that even the manufacturer didn't take the time to properly document them. I trust that you received my response and assume your non reply indicates that we are now in the past tense on the issue. I honestly hoped that would not be the case for although I always enjoy the Mecum, I also hate the drive at this time of year. The winter weather in the north has driven all the snowbirds down here and I-75 and I-4 traffic reminds me of the 4th of July weekend drives north that I used to make in Michigan. Auburnseeker: Any advice on the unique side window arrangements on C7 coupes? I'm speaking of the interacting vent and side window panels. The vent window when locked goes up and down with the full window glass....when it is unlocked, it remains stationary while the full pane goes up and down. I'm thinking that I may have some parts missing but have been unable to find an assembly drawing of the set up in any of the manuals I have. Any suggestions? Williegeno
