  1. What I meant about fluid direction is....does the transmission's hot fluid enter the '56 radiator's internal transmission cooler on the lower left (drivers side) or lower right side? OR does it even matter, though I think this would be the wrong time to discover that an unintentional reverse flush just sent a ton of gunk back to the tranny.
  2. i already know this is a dumb question, but does it matter which side the trans cooler hoses are hooked to the radiator. I know that the trans has a specific outlet to the radiator and a specific inlet from the radiator. I am concerned that if there is a specific inlet/outlet at the radiator...and I hook it up wrong, I would be pushing gunk and stuff into the transmission via reverse flush. I am only interested in the 1956 Buick Radiator only. Thanks.
  3. Unfortunately, I just saw this post about the Torque Tube Eliminator. A friend of mine set his up with C-10 long trailing arms after putting in a '61 full size Buick pumpkin. It bolted right up and has the same axle spline as the '56. So, everything stayed, axles, housing, brakes rear sway bar, etc. Both the Torque Tube Eliminator or C-10 set up will get the desired results. The only drawback is a lot of steel hanging down.
  4. My original question was basically, "Has anyone hooked up a 401 to 2004-R" If you have, I have a few questions. If you haven't..no need to answer this. Currently have a 401 SP400 in my '56. I have a 700R4 going in next week, but toying with switching to the 2004-R. Just curious if anyone has gone the 2004 route.
  5. Has anyone on this site hooked their 401 up to a 2004R transmission. Nailhead set up only. Thanks
  6. Check the resistor to the coil. If it's 65 some odd years old, it's a cheap replacement anyway.
  7. Anyone install a blower motor that'll blow you out of the cabin? If you haven't installed one, I'll understand why there was no response. Thanks.
  8. The picture is somewhat generic. The side vents require rectangular hose. Outlet/inlet is rectangular. All other ports are circular and that hose is readily available over the counter stuff.
  9. The pieces are rectangular, not round that was later beaten rectangular.
  10. Anyone have, or know where I can get, the small rectangular hose that attaches to the two chrome side vents located on far sides of dash. Everything else is round, but I need the rectangular hose(s) only. For 1956 Special. Thanks.
  11. Thanks everyone for all the input. However, my original question was, and still is, 'has anyone put a 401 with 700R tranny in a '56 Buick.' Just want to know if they did and are they happy with it. Thanks.
  12. Has anyone stuffed their '56 with a 401/700R4 combo? I know they've done it with a 322, but curious about the 401/700R4 combo. I already have a '65 dual quad 401/400 combo in her, but want to cut down on the rpms. The rear end is a 3:31 Jaguar IRS. I have the adaptor for the combo. Thanks
  13. Thanks for the input. Really appreciated.
  14. Here's the resistor. It's a Delco-Remy 1933547 1.25 ohms. This is the one attached to the plenium and is for the heater blower motor. Tried to cross reference with no luck. It's listed as obsolete. No kidding? There are two small ceramic chunks inside the coiled wire. I
  15. My '56 has two engine well resistors. One is a pretty standard looking resistor for the coil. The other is a larger version and it is for the heater blower motor. On the back side there is a wire coil and within that coil is a white substance (like a chunk of coral) that is broken in two or three spots. My question: Can I replace that resistor with a standard size resistor, or do I need to find an exact duplicate? Thanks.
  16. Never mind. Set up coming from New Mexico.
  17. Need the whole works from pedal rod to the carb. Thanks.
  18. I need '56 Special throttle assembly. Pedal rod, brackets, mounts, etc. It mounts to the driver side head. Thanks. ghaskett@hctc.com
  19. Anyone have luck finding replacement body mount bushings in the after market vs some of the Buick sites. Thanks!
  20. Thanks RE: Shiftworks. I already have other issues covered. The heap already has dual quad 401, Turbo 400 and complete Jaguar IRS in her. I have a 700R4 and adapter for it and was concerned about the shifter, that's all.
  21. Has anyone hooked up a 700R4 to a '56 Buick? If so, what did you do about the column shift when you had to go from 2 speed to 4 speed shift points. Thanks.
  22. I don't have torque tube issues. Open driveline now. Just wondering if anyone has put a Gear Vendors in a 122" wheelbase '56.
  23. It looks like I'll need the Jaws of Life for this job. Is my assumption far off?
